Join the women's groupRead the journalWhat is HRT?Hormone fluctuations are part of every woman’s life; from puberty to menopause, hormones spike and wane. As women enter the menopause transition in their late 30s and early 40s, estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone begin to steadily decline, creating challenging symptoms. There are over 100 symptoms associated with declining hormones in the menopause transition, some of the most common including hot flashes, mood swings, and vaginal dryness. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is a prescription treatment used to boost hormone levels, by replenishing the estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone that diminish over time. At Winona, we only use plant-based, bioidentical hormones that are identical in molecular structure to those made naturally in your body.If you’re feeling overwhelmed by menopause symptoms, you’re not alone. Winona’s board-certified physicians are available to listen to your concerns and design a personalized HRT plan just for you. Read all about HRT. What is Menopause?Throughout a woman’s life, the female hormones estrogen and progesterone are responsible for reproductive health and for supporting many of the tissues throughout the body. These hormones are produced in the ovary, when stimulated by the brain to do so. As a woman ages, the ovaries stop producing sex hormones at the same rate. This can happen as early as in the late 30s or early 40s, and women may start to notice symptoms as a result of their changing hormones. Hormonal fluctuations may begin to cause irregularities in menstrual bleeding, mood swings, hot flashes, brain fog, changes in metabolism, and changes in sleep patterns. Some women may suffer from these types of symptoms for up to 10 years, before they finally complete the menopause transition. Read all about Menopause.

Everyone’s body responds differently to hormone therapy, and it can take up to 90 days for some patients to experience the full benefits as the body adjusts to the hormones. We recommend reaching out to your doctor through the patient portal so they can review your progress and determine if any adjustments or additional guidance may help.
We’re here to support you throughout your journey, and we’d be happy to help however we can.
I’m not seeing a different with the hormones. I have different cream that’s just estrogen and I see a difference in mood with that, but not this cream. And I didn’t order the hair loss stuff so I don’t know why im paying for and sent that. I think I just want to cancel everything please. I do love the feel of the face serum but I don’t notice any changes. But seems like a great professional company.

Hormone therapy can require adjustments to find the right plan, and our doctors are always available to review your progress and discuss other options that may work better for your needs. Your Winona doctor reviewed your onboarding questionnaire and medical history, and your treatment plan was created based on that information.

I didn’t notice any difference with my prescription
I didn’t notice any difference with Winona. I don’t feel that my money was spent well. It felt like a prescription was given without enough questions to really get to know me and my needs. It’s possible that you just don’t have enough information about my situation to prescribe the most helpful supplements for me. It is expensive out of pocket and didn’t help at all.

We appreciate you sharing your experience and feedback with us, Michelle, and we are sorry to see that you have not noticed any difference yet!
It can be disappointing to start your treatment plan and hope to have immediate results, only to not see any results at all.
We do recognize the importance of a thorough understanding of each woman's unique situation and symptoms to provide the most effective treatment plan. Our onboarding process is designed to ask about your health history and symptoms, but you may share as much information as you would like with your Winona doctor anytime.
We assure you that she is invested in finding you just the right combination and dose of hormones to find you relief.
It does take around 3 months sometimes for the body to adjust to the influx of hormones and see how you will respond.
We see that you just completed your Follow Up for your Winona doctor to gauge your progress so far. Thank you!
She has left you a message in your portal regarding the symptoms you are still experiencing and she would like to make some changes to your medications.
We encourage you to work closely with your Winona doctor and communicate your needs here: https://app.bywinona.com/message
Also, please know that you may submit your receipts to your insurance company for possible reimbursement!

Once you are logged in, please navigate to the top right corner of the page and click on your name. From the drop-down menu, select "Insurance Documents" to retrieve your needed receipts or Letter of Medical Necessity.
Your documentation can then be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
Thank you for your trust in us!
Happy with the doctor but unhappy about the inability to deliver on getting my patches at a pharmacy so my insurance covers them. They need to make their pharmacy able to accept insurance for non compounded medications. Your response is irrelevant as my inquiry was only about the Dottie patch. Customer service claimed I will be charged additional money for only transferring that one part of the prescription. It looks like the company is only concerned with benefiting themselves when you do things like that as I was still paying for the others through you so please do not patronize me with a response that is so ridiculous.

We are happy to hear you had a positive experience with your Winona doctor, Natasha!
We also understand your frustration regarding the insurance coverage for non-compounded medications.
At this time, we do not bill or process insurance claims. Our pricing is self-pay only, but you can submit your receipts to your insurance company for possible reimbursement!
You may also transfer your prescription to an outside pharmacy of your choice, but due to the national estrogen patch shortage, it is becoming increasingly hard for mainstream pharmacies to find them.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and understand it may not be the outcome you were hoping for.
A member of our Patient Care team has emailed you with directions on how to submit your receipts to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
We appreciate your trust in us and are proud to support you!
How do you check if the product is causing any health issues…. Blood work… is blood work not necessary for follow up when on these meds
Reply from By Winona2026-08-03
That is a great question, Catherine, and we appreciate you asking!
Your body is more sensitive than any lab test, and it will let you know if you're on the right track!
Blood hormone levels can vary greatly from day-to-day, so blood tests are not necessarily an accurate indication of what you might need.
Bloodwork can appear "perfect" on paper, but you still may have symptoms, and your body will let you know!
In accordance with The Menopause Society and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Winona does not require any type of bloodwork or hormone testing to be prescribed or continue an HRT treatment plan.
HRT is prescribed based on symptoms and medical history. We want you to feel better, not necessarily "fix" your lab values.
HRT is not an exact science though, and it may take up to 3 months to start to see positive changes. Don't give up too soon!
If you are feeling great on your prescribed dose of HRT, then your Winona doctor knows that it is working.
However, if you still have symptoms after about 10-12 weeks, then an adjustment may be in order.
We encourage you to work closely with your Winona doctor until you find just the right combination and dose of hormones to alleviate your symptoms.
We are always happy to support you!

Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us!
So thankful for Winona! I feel like I got my life back after being dismissed by several doctors when I asked for treatment options for symptoms that were obviously perimenopause related. I was 43 (hysterectomy at 41) and going crazy with aches and pains, brain fog, hair loss, weight gain and insomnia to name a few. Then I found Winona! While it took a month or so to settle into the routine that worked for me with 50/50 cream and DHEA: it’s been life changing! Sleeping better, more energy during the day, less hair shedding, my ankles no longer sound like Rice Krispies snap, crackle & popping when I get up in the morning and I’ve finally been able to lose weight.

It's truly wonderful to know that our personalized approach has made such a positive difference in your well-being. Your journey is inspiring, and we're thrilled to be a part of it!
I appreciate the service. I’m not totally sure the cream is working as I still get hot flashes but less.
Haven’t heard back from my Dr re: continued flashes or upping dose.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're glad to hear you've noticed some improvement with your hot flashes, though we understand it can be frustrating when symptoms haven't fully resolved.
We also appreciate you letting us know about your experience regarding follow-up communication. If you're still experiencing hot flashes, we encourage you to reach out to your doctor again through the patient portal so they can review your symptoms and determine whether any adjustments to your treatment are appropriate.
Thank you again for your feedback—it helps us continue improving the care we provide.
I love how quick things are and simple but I would have liked to been clear about my meds and how I needed adjustments before they ordered me more.

We appreciate your feedback on our quick and simple process. We understand your concern about medication adjustments and will review our procedures to ensure clearer communication regarding prescription changes before refills are ordered.
