What people say

I’m an entrepreneur and peace advocate…

I’m an entrepreneur and peace advocate and appreciate being able to participate in mining Bitcoin without having to fix the machines or run them - Compass has had top notch customer support - especially my go to Bitcoin guy John Degnan - I mean even his name is cool (reminds of iconic Wes Anderson character Dignan from Bottle Rocket) but the whole team has been quick to get back to me and to help fix or repair my machines

Such a disappointing experience

My miner has been offline for over a year. When I ask about it, weeks go by before I get a response. I have checked in consistently during this time and have had very general responses stating my machine is being fixed. How has it taken a year to get fixed? The machine was expensive and now with the halving, it is such a loss. I am so disappointed with my experience with Compass. I have gone to a different company to continue mining and have all but lost hope for the machine I have with them. They recently said they would request a temporary miner for me (though they are still waiting on a response)- why wasn't that brought up a year ago as an option?

The miners are almost always offline

The miners are almost always offline. Bought 6 miners that went online about a year after the scheduled date, they mined for about 1 year (constantly on and off, almost never had all 6 online). My $50k investment turned $16k (just thank to Bitcoin price going up) and now with the halving coming up the miners are obsolete. Don’t get scammed

Compassmining is a shady company...

Compassmining is a shady company with criminally liable practices. I hope my story can serve as a warning and strong deterrent to anyone wishing to give them business. I have been dealing with issues ever since I bought miners totaling over 30,000 usd from them. I will try to list all of the shady things they have done. I will probably miss a few since there's been so many. 1. My miners went offline a few months after purchase. Customer service could do nothing for me no matter how many tickets I opened up. I was offline for 10 months. The energy rates went up twice during that period. 2. They advertise energy contracts per year, but in reality they increase rates whenever they see fit. So my monthly bill went up twice before I ever started hashing again. 3. They told me that one of my miners went from a Texas facility to Oklahoma and that it was being cleaned. It mined for 20 days and then went offline again. When I asked what happened, they said the Oklahoma operation was being shut down and my miner would be sent for cleaning again, even though it had just been cleaned. Many more months went by without hashing anything. 4. They want me to believe improbabilities like all 3 of my s19j pro miners failed beyond repair, precisely and conveniently just after their warranty was up. There's so many things wrong with this. Up until that point they had no idea where my miners were, but all of a sudden they found them and knew they were beyond repair...okay. Also, s19jpro are known to be good working miners with a very low failure rates, but they want me to believe all 3 of my new miners failed, even though they only mined for a few months before going offline. 5. They "kindly" replaced my new, now dead, miners with who knows what miners. Don't know how old or in what condition. They also stopped taking phone calls and now only answer through tickets, sporadically. 6. Some monthly Invoices do not add up correctly. Someone in customer service finally decided to investigate further...and my invoices went up even more lol. 7. When I asked for my miners to be shipped to me, I told them to remove the monthly invoices for April since they should not be mining for much longer. Each miner's invoice is roughly 180ish dollars, so 540 dollars should have been removed from my invoices. Only 378 dollars was removed. There's always something shady with them. This has been years in the making. I have tried to be patient and understand that every company has issues, but now I sincerely believe that there are shady practices going on with this company. From the many complaints and bad reviews across different sites, there's just too much evidence. I have finally given up and they have made an enemy out of a once loyal customer. I have all the emails, from all the issues and now I will spread my terrible experience as far and wide as I can. Do not do business with this company, you will regret it.

5 months of down time

5 months of down time, since Nov 2023, and still just lip service from Compass. I can't even request they ship it back to me, location is "somewhere" in Texas. Terrible management, horrible customer service; really expensive ASIC, I will never break even on this investment. Run, don't walk, away!

Colby was informative and transparent.

Colby was informative and gave up to date information. He was fair and truthful and I respected his opinion. He helped guide me through some critical decisions with transparency. Thank you Colby!

50% downtime!!

I bought a miner from Compass 2-3 years ago. The number of outages have been excessive. Looking at my payouts over the past 12 months, the miner was offline for at least 50% of the year. HALF!! They had one job - keep my miner mining. BTC miners have a limited shelf life as we approach halvlngs and more powerful miners come to market. Compass have completely failed me.

Lack of transparency

Unfortunately a very bad experience, a frustrating lack of transparency. I bought a miner operating in Ontario, frankly overpriced, over promises like "yes it costs more than twice the market price, Sir, but hey, we're here, we will ship it mount it maintain it etc." Let's hold that thought for a second. The miner remains up for somewhat year with constant downs - one maybe can expect that with all the crackdown on these mining businesses, sustainability, droughts, etc. - when suddenly just before the contract expires the miner goes down inexorably for no reason. I'm told, after a few persistent messages, that the miner had performance problems and needs to be reconfigured: well, do it then, it's still under contract, isn't it? "Ah no, it takes about $500 for those things to be done" I think about it, a little pissed off, finally I tell them: yeah ok, go ahead, do the reconfiguration and bill it to me. In the meantime their sales dept shows up to propose a mining contract renewal with a purchase new miners, cause it's better performance, etc. I refuse and keep my miner on the same conditions. Why invest more if you are not already such a reliable partner? Bottomline, the miner never comes back up, it's been almost a year since the contract was renewed, I had to open new tickets to figure out "where the hell is my miner, are you fixing it finally or did it fall into the hands of some Canadian bear?". I have no answers until I ask them to ship it to my home and terminate the contract. Then I finally get an answer: they make me sign a withdrawal agreement from the contract and that they will ship the miner to me. Again for the usual $500 USD. They also add "oh, and you have to pay the electricity bills until the shipping happens". Well that's going to be easy, the miner has been down for almost a year.. Anyways, I'm exhausted, I pay, and now it's two months that I've been waiting. Did the miner ever existed in the first place? I don't know. Is someone in background buying some old miner in China to have it shipped to me? Anything is possible, frankly. One thing I'm sure of: they won't see my money again. And you should be careful as well.

Great 3 months of mining

I have started with Compass about three months ago and so far I'm very happy with the service. Miners were delivered even before expected dates and have been mining since with minimum downtime. Support had been in touch with me few time and generally responds within few days. As it stands now 5 stars well deserved. Fingers crossed it will stay at this level of service.

We look forward to continuing to meet and exceed your expectations. Your 5-star review is truly valued, and we're grateful for your trust in Compass Mining. Happy mining!

Don't Do It! Avg 20% uptime. Just buy BTC.

3+ years in Avg 20% uptime across all five of our units. Compass Home page cites glowing reviews and guarantees, none of that for us. Zero phone calls answered or returned. Many service tickets "we are sorry" with many lame excuses but no credits for this down time, only two of five units still working. In the red big time on this very poor investment. Sorry we got involved. No response to requests for "guarantee" help, now they want me to replace units that are irreparable after they've not even worked for one full year. They should be embarrassed to keep marketing machines as if everything it okay. Place is a clown show. Some "service" tickets still going on over a year with months between correspondence. Unbelievable really. Just buy BTC.

My bitcoin miner has been "under…

Update: After initially leaving a 1-star review, the Compass Mining team reached out and assigned me a temporary unit for the duration of my unit being under repair. Thank you Compass Team. My bitcoin miner has been "under repair" for 1 year now. At this point, Compass no longer responds to my messages in the ticket I started with them when I ask for a status update on the repair. Additionally, I have tried starting other tickets to get an update and they just tell me they are "merging" it with the existing ticket and don't give me an update on the repair. I wanted to support this company because their mission to bring bitcoin mining mainstream is good, but the customer support leaves a lot to be desired.

AVOID - nearly 50% downtime

I've had a miner with them for a couple of years. According to my Braiins payout chart, it was offline for (I estimate) 50% of the past 12 months. HALF!! A BTC miner has an extremely limited shelf life as the power of competing machines goes up. Compas had ONE JOB - keep my machine up and mining. I can accept a day or two... or a week ... of downtime a year, but SIX MONTHS?? Absolute and utter fail. EDIT: I spoke with a friend of mine who has half a dozen miners with them. His experience is similar to mine. Apparently (I can't confirm this) the issue is that the Compass sales team have been selling more miners than they have rack space for. They're happy to take your money to sell you a machine, but there's no guarantees that they'll actually have it online! Also, they have this 'credit' system which is farcical. If I understand it correctly, this is how it works. Let's say that your miner is offline in March because there's no rack space. Compass will still charge you for March, however they'll issue you a credit to cover it, so you pay with the credit. There's no 'compensation' as such for them not hosting - they just won't charge you hosting for that month. Meanwhile, your miner is gathering dust and aging. To repeat myself, I can't over-emphasise what a disappointment this company has been. They've just shown greed and, honestly, contempt for me as a customer.

The miner has been operating with…

The miner has been operating with Compass since January 9th in Ontario. During this time, it has been running at full capacity, except for a few hours due to a storm. It was also out of service for a few hours last weekend, but it was quickly resolved with an email. The support is very good at any time and day of the week. I am satisfied with the facility service.

Very bad service

Very bad service. I ordered 1 S19xp hosted. but it keep offline due to their facility issue. for 1 year, it only run like 2 months. I requested the contract terminated. and request them to return the miner, they told me it will take 6-9 weeks for them to ship my miner out. What a ridiculous company. Totally big loss.

So far my experience is being great

So far my experience is being great, in particular due the support provided by Colby in sales. Miners delivered on time/ahead of schedule. Expect to continue like this.

Legal action to be taken!

I have been scammed and I have receipts. If someone would like to join me and assist with a class action please let me know. Worker Name: oh2fdxf Facility: OH2 (Ohio 2) Miner: S19 XP Cost of Purchase: $14k USD Background: purchased in May 22, miner became operational in January 23, Miner broken March 23 and has been broken until the 12 month warranty ran out. Now they are saying that it is our of warranty and I need to cover repairs. This was done purposefully to avoid repairing miners. Anyone able to assist with legal action, I am setting up a website called compassminingscam.com where a platform will be created for all people to share how they have been scammed by Compass Mining. We will compile all information and commence legal action. Customer service: non responsive or incompetent new customers be aware: once they have your money that is the last time you will see it. Remember than any positive reviews are fake!

Poor customer service & lack of communication & transparency- Compass is failing at their mission to enable bitcoin mining for all as a result

My miner has been down for 7 months due to a relocation from Texas hosted facility where they needed to ship my miner (at that time my Antminer S19j Pro had been mining for ~ a year after initial 3-4 months of delay in deploying when new) to a maintenance facility and then ship to new hosted facility. I only got the initial news and when I followed up after 3 months they finally responded but with no new update. That was 4 months ago and no response when I requested an update 2 wks ago. There is no transparency on their process for relocations and my perception is they are prioritizing new business instead of keeping their commitments to existing customers. I can not recommend Compass because if your hosted facility have issues, you will also go through what I and many others are going through.

Poor Communication & Radio Silence

I've had over 9 months of downtime for two S19 XP's that broke down at Texas 4 last year. I paid roughly $32k for both. In my dashboard it says 3/3 Miners Deployed, but I only have 1 S19j Pro hashing at Texas 3. I don't know what to do because their support keeps stating apologizes for the delay of the repair and relocation process for the two miners, and I feel helpless. I’m not getting updated on a regular basis of the status of these 2 broken down miners, which should have been covered by warranty, and I am posting this negative review for any help. I don't know what else to do. I would appreciate if they could communicate with me whether this is a lost cause or not at this point.

High prices and horrible support.

Let's ignore the prices and focus on the support problems with two examples: 1.) The relocation of units from Texas 4 takes more than HALF A YEAR now and is still not resolved. An absolutely horrible experience without the possibility to chose the data center the unit is being relocated to. 2.) A brand new S19k went offline. Instead of properly monitoring the deployed units, identifying problems and fixing them right away it took Compass Mining ONE WEEK to diagnose the problem without an estimate on the repair itself. Their support team obviously has no power over anything. It's the worst support I have encountered so far.
