What people say

Ebay, never again!

I have always believed eBay's Buyer Protection would protect buyers who act in good faith. Unfortunately, my recent experience has been the opposite. I purchased an item through eBay and paid VAT at checkout. After shipment, I was unexpectedly asked by the postal service to pay additional VAT and import charges. Before taking any action, I contacted both the seller and eBay Customer Service. The seller confirmed in writing that I should refuse the parcel and that a full refund would be issued once it was returned. eBay Customer Service gave me the same advice and assured me I would remain protected under Buyer Protection. I followed those instructions exactly. Instead of receiving the promised assistance, eBay denied my Buyer Protection claim, suspended my account for alleged "abusive buyer behaviour," and has never provided any evidence or meaningful explanation for that accusation. My repeated appeals, including the seller's written confirmation, have been ignored. This is no longer just about a refund. It is about fairness, transparency, and accountability. Consumers should not be penalized for beleiving what it is promised and following the advice given by eBay's own customer service. As a result, I am escalating this matter through the appropriate consumer protection channels, including the European Consumer Centre (ECC-Net), and will pursue all available legal and regulatory remedies if necessary. I sincerely hope eBay reviews this case properly and treats its customers with the fairness and transparency they deserve.

Does not deserve 1 star

I bought from a seller and when the goods came they were faulty all the panels were squashed I sent photos the seller sent me a label for return and I had no printer and nobody I knew had a printer I asked for a QR code the seller said just go to the post office they will take it and the post office refused. I wrote back to the seller asking for him to send via post the label he simply ignored me. I asked eBay for help I may as well have been speaking to a coconut for all the help they gave me. I eventually had to go to the local library where two lovely ladies also struggled with the printing of the label it took 30 mins to finally sort it and to my expense not the seller who sends out faulty goods. as soon as I have my refund I'm deleting the eBay app it's not good for the buyers.

I sold two items on eBay

I sold two items on eBay. The buyer paid for them. eBay received the money. eBay sent the money to a nonexistent debit card. I have spent two weeks and at least 4 hours, if not more, trying to rectify this issue. I have been told to contact the bank and have complied. The bank confirmed that the debit card does not exist. I have had my phone calls to eBay cancelled twice and put on hold indefinitely once. I keep getting the runaround by eBay. Everything I have done is not enough. I have been a customer of eBay for close to twenty years and have never had to go through such a hassle. eBay made the error, and yet I have had to do the work to try to correct the mess.

Ebay really sucks!

I seriously don't know how ebay can stay in business after repeatedly abusing its sellers! After having stayed away from selling on ebay for 17 years, I tried to sell a used camera and a newly purchased mini-drone camera that I've only used once on a trip. I spent four hours or more, taking pictures, uploading them and writing the descriptions meticulously. The day after I had listed my two items I get a message from ebay informing me that my account had been permanently disabled due to violation of policy. What was my vioaltion? Well, first they wouldn't tell me due to "security reasons". Then I was informed that I cannot sell items for more than $300. So, why does the system allow me to list them in the first place, and not stop me in the process, so that I wouldn't have to waste all that time? And what is the site good for if you can't post stuff that you own? Ridiculous!!! Time is money!

eBay will help the scammers

I purchased a ranger grill (size is 45''x12'') from seller duf-2378, said package arrived with a tracking number to a complete different address signed by unknown name. I had to do my own research with FedEx to find this out, gave bank and eBay this information and told them that they need to call and talk to a live person at FedEx (only way to get the correct information) they just put in tracking number on line and it just says DELIVERED, no address or size just same town ( size delivered was 12''x4.5'') not a 45''x12''grill. yes eBay still sided with the seller and charged me, they are part of the scamming problems, will not use eBay ever again...

E-Bay's customer service is great

E-Bay's customer service is great! The AI and the human are both helpful and that is why I give 3 stars. Why I don't give 5 Stars is because the settings are misleading. For example I choose daily payout which carries a surface description of- after delivery payment is available. What actually occurs is after the item is paid for, and after the item is delivered, 3 days have to go by before funds are released. If I seen that from the start I would have likely not chosen to start selling anything on there because in my opinion it's not Fair. If I buy something from eBay, my account I paid with gets drafted and so that money goes through ACH right away. Once it's been through ACH, those are cleared funds guaranteed. So what is happening with the buyers cleared funds for my item?? I didn't know eBay was an fdic. member but to hold funds means you are acting like a bank so where is your fdic certificate?? Alot more questions than answers.

Scammers for sure

Scammers for sure. I ordered an item it says it was delivered but yet I never received it and because it was said that it was delivered eBay did not refund me my money. Although I do not have the item I wouldn't lie about not having an item.

Ebay charged me $66.00 because I canceled an auction

I have been selling antiques & collectibles on ebay auctions since 1998. My friends and I have found the treatment we receive from ebay to be reprehensible. They don't care at all that sellers are THEIR customers; we are the only ones that pay them! The most recent outrage: I had an item listed and I realized that I had made an error in the listing and that there was a flaw in the item that I had missed. I decided to cancel the auction, correct the listing, and re-list it. Because I'm an honest person!! Ebay charged me $66.00 because I canceled the auction!!! No warning, no notice that I'd be charged that. And I re-listed it - did they give me my money back? No of course not! I HATE EBAY with every ounce of my being. If they had any competition with the auctions I would be long gone. Thankfully Facebook Marketplace is becoming a good way to sell things that don't need the auction format.

Small print stops you getting Nectar Points

I have been buying multiple items on eBay linked through Nectar for some time now. I could not understand why my Nectar points were not building as fast as I thought they should. I have now discovered that there is small print to drastically reduce the number of points you gain when buying multiple items etc. If there is a credit or amendment to the final account such as a reduction in postage costs or a refund because something to do with 1 item of many or any other reason the entire invoice is removed from collecting Nectar points. I personally have lost thousands of points because of this. It is not fair eBay and Nectar should use the finalised price, possibly until after the return date to protect them, but it would at least be fair to those regularly using eBay. I look forward to a response from them.

I would actually give them 0 stars

I would actually give them 0 stars. “Customer support” are absolutely useless. Had a bad product delivered months ago, there was a bug on their system and I was unable to contact the seller. The day I received the order I sent an email to customer support to request a partial refund. After regular contact (at least weekly) for the last 6 months trying to get a refund I was told because I didn’t open a case (again, I was unable to on the site but believed a case was opened given my email communication) that I didn’t qualify for a refund. I was messed around for 6 months, sent links and passed from person to person and now they are refusing to respond to further emails as there is “nothing they can do” absolutely disgusting

Incompetent support endless loop of lies and zero accountability

Dealing with eBay Customer Service over the past month has been hands down the most frustrating customer experience of my life. I spoke with multiple representatives and every single one told me a completely different story. Rather than taking ownership to fix a glitch on a refund their main goal was clearly to rush me off the phone as fast as possible constantly telling me to 'try this and if it doesn't work call us back' I was forced into a 30 day loop of dead ends and false promises. In the end eBay failed to process what was rightfully mine and I had to go outside of their platform to PayPal just to get my refund resolved. eBay's customer support is lazy, incompetent, and completely unhelpful. I am officially deleting my account and will never buy from eBay again.

Disappointed with the Purchase

I was really looking forward to my recent eBay purchase, but it was a letdown. The item arrived much later than I expected, which put a damper on my plans. Communication from the seller was lacking as well; I reached out a couple of times to get updates, but didn't receive any replies. When it finally showed up, I noticed it wasn't exactly as described in the listing, which was pretty frustrating. The quality seemed off, and it definitely didn't match the pictures that were shown. I had hoped for a better experience, but instead, I found myself feeling pretty disappointed overall. I understand that sometimes things don't go perfectly, but this felt like a situation where attention to detail was missing. I’ve had smoother transactions on other platforms, so I don’t think I’ll be rushing back to eBay anytime soon. It’s a shame, because I’ve always heard good things about it. For now, I’ll just say that you might want to think twice before buying from certain sellers here.

Horrible support for sellers

Horrible support for sellers! Had an issue where a buyer cancelled an order due to it being listed as pick up only. Now they want to send me to collections for a negative balance. Im being punished for a buyers mistake. Several calls to customer service and no resolve.

Retired veteran WRONGED BY EBAY

Honestly, ebay isn't worthy ofevena single star. Im a retired veteran who fought to prevent things of this nature from happening to Americans. Please, I'm asking any and everyone to not use ebay for any reason as they steal money and products from hard working Americans for an unknown reason? Possibly funding terrorist? Its got to be something horrible? They took thousands of dollars from my family and I and actually refused to make it right in any way and when I complained about my money the suspended my account? WTF?

fraud on ebay - they don't care or help

They allow fraud on their website and when you try to report it they put you onto a returns service which obviously doesn’t work as the seller hasn’t shipped you anything. Then it is impossible open a ticket and get help until you have returned the non-existent item.
