What people say

Well first of all you guys took my…

Well first of all you guys took my insurance information and then made me an appointment for a video call that I never did get and my insurance company told me that if you guys charge me for something that you guys did not do then they will call the Inspector General

Scam company

I went onto their site to try to get a refill on migraine meds (sumatriptan) nothing that is a controlled substance because I couldn’t get into my pcp before leaving for vacation. They decided to not prescribe me the same medication I’ve been prescribed for, for 23 years and give me four pills of that medication that ate a quarter of the strength that I need. I contacted customer support, which is clearly AI. The email they sent did not answer any of my concerns or questions, it was a generic response and it even said I owed more money. This company is a scam!! Don’t waste your money or time. I’ll be filing a dispute tomorrow.

I did not receive a telehealth…

I did not receive a telehealth consultation. There was no live interaction or meaningful medical evaluation — only automated messaging directing me to obtain lab work and take over-the-counter medication. Additionally, I was informed prior to using the service that my expected cost would be approximately $75, and I was not provided a written estimate or consent to a higher charge. Now they are trying to charge via Health Insurance $140. At the time of service, I was physically located in Alaska, while the provider appears to be located in Florida and on the visit summary 'CLAIMS' I had an office visit.

No Phone Contact / Doc Date Issue

Two major issues- first, the telephone number for this business plays an automated info message only. You will never be able to speak with a live helixvm employee - correspondence is only by email. Second, if you’re seeking a doctor’s note, there could be an issue with the date. All doctor’s notes and patient documents are reviewed and then posted online for the patient by the company’s East Coast office. If you live on the West Coast and have an appointment after approx. 8 PM (PST), the doctor’s excuse and appointment dates will be off by one day (dated for the following day) which may create problems at the school or workplace where the absence occurred and the helixvm staff will not correct the dates. If the business fixed these two issues, I would give them five stars, but until they do, I’d suggest being cautious when using this business.

Deceptive

I signed up and paid twice for weight loss treatment. I went and got an EKG and several expensive blood tests to get a Phentermine prescription; I had taken it before and it worked well. After all of this cost, they tell me that I am 10 lbs too light to receive the prescription. What?!? Why don’t you make that known ahead of time? I never would have signed up with you. I am out thousands of dollars and still overweight….horrible business practices.

Incorrect RX for the symptoms

You complete a questionnare and tell them exactly what is wrong with symptoms. But they prescribe you something that is not even relevant to your symptoms or what is wrong. It's comparable to prescribing you something for a UTI when you have a cough. So, you take the medicine, then your symptoms are not cleared up, but it is costing you over $150 after insurance for nothing. If they cannot accurately diagnose the problem or prescribe the correct medication, then they need to reevaluate their business practices.

$1,000 for a Telehealth Appointment

I had a virtual visit with HelixVM that resulted in a $1,000 charge for what was a very brief and basic telehealth appointment. The visit consisted of completing an asynchronous questionnaire, after which I was prescribed cough medication. Several days later, I received an email notifying me of a $1,000 bill. My insurance processed the claim and covered approximately 80%, leaving me responsible for $197 which is an amount that is still completely disproportionate to the level of care provided. Despite multiple email requests to HelixVM’s Patient Servicing Team, I was never provided with an itemized bill or coded statement explaining how this charge was determined. Without CPT codes or a detailed breakdown, there is no transparency into what was billed or why the cost was so high. Patients typically choose telehealth services for their convenience and affordability, with most visits costing between $25-$75. Clear, itemized billing and upfront pricing should be standard practice. Based on this experience, I would caution others against using HelixVM and recommend seeking telehealth services through providers that offer transparent pricing and reasonable charges.

False advertising …

I have tried many over-the-counter medications, including Benadryl, for my insomnia. When I searched for how to obtain sleeping medications, I came across a large advertisement stating, “If you need sleeping meds like Ambien or Lunesta, make an appointment with one of our providers." So, I did just that. They took my insurance information, and a few hours later, I saw a doctor who prescribed me Benadryl like antihistamine. When I asked why I wasn't prescribed a sleep med, customer service explained that they don't prescribe any medication for new patients. This feels like a misleading advertisement designed to trap customers, only to deny them the medications they advertisede.

The readiness of the medical staff

The readiness of the medical staff How quickly my medication was sent with no issues The way the updates were sent every time there was a change in anything no confusion on the insurance or the video visits Great doctors on staff also no issues there at all willing to really listen to what I needed and didn't need.thank you again

Stay away

I simply needed a refill on a medication I have been taking for 25 years. They called in the wrong dosage and when I informed them they tried to charge me for another visit to correct it so I found a different dr, then they charged my insurance company 1000 dollars for a medication refill!!!! Absolutely insane stay away!!!

Lots of bought and paid for 5 star…

Lots of bought and paid for 5 star reviews on here now. Last time I left a review they were ALL 1 STAR! In my opinion none of these 5 star reviews are real. Read my review from over a year ago. This is a scam company. They try to bill your insurance for 5,000 for 1 "asynchronous" in other words you fill out a form online and the doctor reviews the form and sends in a prescription. You don't even have a real visit. They tried to bill my insurance 5k for that service. 1 prescription. When my insurance obviously declined to pay that they declined to pay any of it and told me that this is a scam company. Then, helix tried to bill me for 500 dollars and tell me that i'm getting a discount because it's cash pay, ha ha, they are a scam, please, please don't use them.
