What people say

They protect auction houses not customers

They protect auction houses who sell counterfeits. I wrote a review detailing my experience of getting a fake necklace from an auction house on 1/13/2025. They review was not posted for a few weeks. I contacted invaluable and they told me they were reviewing the post. Fine. I asked them again in February, they told me they were *still* reviewing it. Now it's April, and I still don't see my review posted. I also have received no communication from invaluable.com regarding my review. It's very clear that Invaluable.com only posts 5-star good reviews. They didn't want people to expose their bad experience using the platform. They are protecting the auction houses at the expense of customers.

I unknowingly bid on the wrong item

I have bid and won multiple items on Invaluable. On this last item, I had requested notification when the item was up for bidding. When I received the notice on my phone, I clicked on the item, saw the painting I was interested in and saw "last call". I then clicked on the bid button and won the item. The problem was.........then a painting came up that I had no idea where it came from...........it was not the painting I thought I had bid on. I immediately informed Invaluable ........twice ......with their irritating 'chat' device and recieved a reply that it would mistake would be up to the owner or gallery. I have reached out by phone to no avail from the gallery, Coral Gables Auction. Interesting that the lot I had hoped to win....was apparently 'passed' but it does not show that on Invaluable website. All other auctions immediately post 'passed' if there is a minimum that is not reached. If not resolved, I will not be using this platform ever again. Corral Gable Auction was kind enough to settle this very easily. Invaluable was not helpful.

Up until about 4 to 6 weeks ago…

Up until about 4 to 6 weeks ago everything was great. However now I am finding that the bid status doesn’t update reliably when I go into the App. I can have increased my bid and the item doesn’t show it or I get a notification that I’ve been outbid but when I inspect in the App it hasn’t updated and may still be showing me as a high bidder. Then if I increase my bid it could take 2 or 3 attempts for it to complete successfully. Then yesterday as I went to increase a bid 20mins before auction close it refused to take my increased bid 3 times then dropped me out saying I needed to login or create an account.

It made a bidder bitter. Do it better, buddy!

What a dumb experience. Invaluable should change its name to Unvaluable. I suppose it serves its purpose, but it was much better previously, as you could see details of all lots in a viewable list. Now you have to click on the arrows to go back or forth, one click per lot. There is a lot of waste space on the page too. And it's so silent. We can watch the auctioneer in real time, but we can't hear him. I want to hear him, as it may be relevant to my bidding or not. I would also like to view a catalogue, know beforehand what my final cost will be, which seems to be my bid + 25%!!! This site could be so much better if the platform could be reconstructed to cater to the viewers wants and needs.

This site knowingly allows dishonest listings

This site is morally indefensible. I found evidence that an original 'picasso' artwork was a fake (a picture search on Google led to a previous Ebay listing of the exact same item.. same reference number and provenance.. but accurately stating that it was a copy in the style of Picasso). I brought this to the attention of the auction house who ignored my communication. So I informed Invaluable as they make 25% commissions from sold items. The response was essentially we do not care it's not our problem. They knowingly allow fakes to be sold as originals on their platform because their terms indemnify them. I'd love to see someone challenge that in court.

My honest opinion on this 25% fee that…

My honest opinion on this 25% fee that they charge every single winning bid is absolutely ridiculous and extremely unnecessary. This fee is supposedly to cover costs of use of the auction house, the space for the items on auction, advertising, the auctioneer and other things. So my question is why isn't the person who is selling these items because it is him who needs the auction house and an auctioneer and advertisements. This extra fee to every bidder, does not make any sense whatsoever. How is this stupid rule even legal??!!!!

Shady, unreliable and nit transparent !

And after of so many years being a member, I cancel my membership and strongly NOT recommend anyone, especially, a serious collector bid through this platform. They dont guarantee anything, except collect fee from you. They are not fair and neither transparent, I was watching an item for months, had highest bid during live online sales, but item went to a lower bidder at no reason and explanation. and Invaluable.com “cannot do anything neither explain”. Shocking unprofessional and unreliable. Stay away.
