I wouldn't even give them a one star. Horrible, deceitful. Move from Cincy to Milwaukee one bedroom apartment quoted at $2,000 turned out to be $4,200 plus and damaged furniture.
Held me hostage for $2200 plus when picking up my furniture from subcontractor who was horrible. Paid the thieves and then nobody would tell me when my furniture was coming, they just showed up days later and damaged my furniture over $1000 dollars and gave me a whole $200 dollars. Amerisafe never defended me as they should with the subcontractor who went out of business. Had to make many calls to them without any results to adjust the high prices and damages. Stay clear
Just don't. Nothing said is the actual outcome, but if you do, use a credit card.
Big talk, low price, but will shunt you off to another subcontractors or two, or more and won't return calls or emails after pickup
Even Capital One is unable to get my money back from their shady practice
Beware: My 86-year-old mom chose amerisafe not realizing they were brokers. She decided to try them, they were very friendly and courteous initially. Once amerisave hired the movers and got there $2,062. amerisave was completely out of the picture. Four times the moving company kept adding on extra fees. We were not told by amerisafe that the moving company was not allowed to move out of state, movers charge two fees before they even left my mom's apartment, an additional fee was charged to use a shuttle, semi, movers were not allowed to drive out of state, we had to pay a tractor trailer to drive from Georgia to Virginia. Another fee, once in Virginia the movers took over and charged us an additional fee to bring the furniture off the truck onto a small U-Haul Van and mini van to my mom's apartment all in all my mother's one and a half bedroom apartment windup costing in total $11,000. Every time I mentioned the fees they told us we would not get the furniture until we pay, they held my furniture hostage and no one from amerisave would help. None of these fees were explained to us they're in the contract and it's very small print but the movers can do whatever they want and charge you whatever they want once they have possession of your furniture amerisafe is done.
Please read the contracts before you hire them they will not tell you any of these charges in advance.
My 86-year-old mother is out of $11,0000.
This company and its employee's are complete frauds. They said they were the actual mover not a broker. WRONG, THEY LIED TO US, THEY ARE ONLY A BROKER NOT A MOVING COMPANY. The company that showed up to move us, was a completely different company. They gave us a hard and fast maximum cost for the move. WHEN THE ACTUAL MOVER ARRIVED, THE PRICE FOR THE MOVE WENT FROM $9,350.00 TO $14,000.00. They said the personal property would be taken directly from the home to our new home and it would not be off loaded into a warehouse then onto a larger truck. THEY LIED AGAIN, THE ACTUAL MOVER SAID THE ONLY WAY THEY MAKE A LONG DISTANCE MOVE IS TO TRANSFER THE ITEMS TO ANOTHER LARGER TRUCK. We gave them a $3800.00 deposit, when the other mover showed up and gave us the NEW HIGHER price, we sent them away, and cancelled the move. When we cancelled with AmeriSafe, they said they would only refund us $1,000.00. This appears to be a planned strategy to defraud americans out of money. Its a clear scam. HEADS-UP AmeriSafe is connected to a company called NATIONWIDE MOVE MANAGEMENT, LLC and NW MANAGEMENT SERVICES, LLC.
Beware! Not a moving company! These are brokers so they take their cut then send criminals to your house and won’t take your calls. Andrew promised me my stuff to arrive in 3 days. Movers show up 6 hours early then once they leave say my stuff will go truck to truck for weeks and maybe will make it to my house. But if I pay over $5000 cash which is extortion it will be at my house as promised. Amerisafe wouldn’t even pick up the phone as I’m sure they saw my phone number and don’t care because they already have your money. And now you are left to try to negotiate with criminal who have all of your belongings on a truck going to no where. Total scam. They should be arrested. Find a moving company and book directly. Don’t go through this nightmare.
This broker creates a bid that underestimates the extent of your belongings. The sizes of items don’t match their computer generated estimates and when the movers arrive, you are immediately over the predicted volume and your costs skyrocket. Neither the broker nor the moving company takes any responsibility - rather, it is all the customer’s fault for not understanding cubic volume. I have moved quite often without problems and this, quite simply, is a version of bait and switch. The contract you sign insulates the companies from accusations of fraud, but it is fraudulent behavior.
Do not use Amerisafe for your moving needs. They provide you with an estimate or final quote but when they arrive they provide you with another price. There prices are not based on the items you have but based on cubic feet of space there is on the truck. So in my case I am moving 790 square foot apartment onto a truck however the space available on the truck that estimate is for is much lower (305 cubic feet). The estimated price is not reflective of the true value of the cubic footage which is misleading and dishonest. They arrived over and hour late and made this move very expensive. It went from being estimated price of $2,075 to $2,800. That is a 20% mark up.
Damaged property on arrival. AmeriSafe Kyle avoided calls about what went wrong. Trucking company said lost and damaged property is not their fault. Things where pickup from a trailer at a warehouse. Missing TV's and shattered china. Expensive and once you pay they avoid helping to get property damage compensation
This company is a complete scam. They will lie to you to convince you to pay a deposit telling you that you can cancel at anytime (when what they actually do is make you sign a contract that says you have three days to cancel). Shame on them. And then they try to bribe you with some of your own money that they stole from you to have you change your reviews. And they definitely post FAKE reviews allll over the internet. there's a whole Facebook group about these people. Unethical lying scam artists. No one who actually uses them gets their stuff on time, they all pay more and often don't get their items or they are totally destroyed. Do not hire them unless you want to lose your well earned money and deal with people who are completely unprofessional and at times cruel.
I have been soliciting bids from several companies for an upcoming move. In the process, I have realized that all the brokers and several of the carriers (the actual movers/trucks that accept broker bids) have mixed to bad reviews. You call one and they warn you about the others and vice versa. Andrew Williams at AmeriSafe called me many times, and I told him the things I was learning about the loopholes in contracts that let the movers screw you over last minute, such as charging you: 1) for weight even though you aren’t present to verify it (though you can ask to be present or at least get weight tickets… but tickets don’t matter much if they lie), 2) for taking extra space (either at pickup or “mid-move”… as if boxes get larger, including for space that is left empty on top of a short stack of boxes or above items that can’t be stacked, but apparently that’s illegal now I’m told) so MEASURE YOUR BOXES TO KNOW CUBIC FEET, 3) for changing inventory (but I’m told that only matters if it expands the cubic feet or is a bulky item that is hard to move like a piano or leaves the driver with an inaccurate list, so finalize 5 days’ prior — you can’t sneak in an extra box!), and 4) for added services including the driver deciding they can’t make it to your house without a shuttle ($1 more per cubic foot), or for not emptying plastic drawers (although several companies said the empty drawer rule applies to heavy furniture, not light plastic furniture), etc. I contacted several companies and moved forward in more detail with three, including AmeriSafe. Two were willing to write an addendum to the Bill of Lading (which the carrier must honor) to state that I would only be charged for additional cubic feet, not weight or change in inventory unless a change in inventory affected cubic feet or added a bulky item. They also connected me directly with their carrier to confirm accessibility at both my pickup and drop off addresses to ensure I would not be charged a shuttle fee, since streets are smaller in my area but I could do a workaround with enough notice.
Andrew at AmeriSafe said he would do the same. He texted me, “I will put anything in your contract you want.” But then he sent me nothing despite me outlining these items. When I asked him again, including to work on it and get it to me so I could sign, he said, “Type it up and I will copy and paste it into the contract.” So, I wrote it up and emailed and texted it to him. Then he responded, “That is too much. I wish you the best” and dropped me cold. He didn’t honor his word. I think I dodged a bullet since I don’t want a broker that isn’t willing to put in writing the verbal and text-based promises he makes to protect a client from becoming one of the BBB or State Attorney General horror stories. Nor do I want one that is only responsive to get me to sign but otherwise ignores my request for an addendum for days and then dishonors his word before we even sign. He led me on and never followed through. Further, he said other things to try to get me to sign like how terrible the other companies were that I was considering and that his company has been around 27 years although BBB says 4. He also said they didn’t recently have any licensing change, which SafeShip pointed out to me, but FMCSA has a note that AmeriSafe did — downgraded from a carrier to just a broker.
What AmeriSafe has going for them is a good carrier — Amex Moving. But you should skip the middleman and go directly to them and avoid the lies and false promises. You won’t get as good a starting price since brokers negotiate by sending multiple jobs to the carriers and you are only a job of 1, but you also won’t get the surprise inflation as long as you do your due diligence. (Another carrier worth considering is Perfectly Fast Moving; unfortunately Google shows mostly brokers in their results so you won’t see these names otherwise.)
Amerisafe is a joke. They showed up hours late to pick up the stuff, took 7.5 hours to load it on a truck, broke a LOT of stuff for which their insurance basically would give me nothing, changed the delivery date without notice and then dumped the stuff at my new place without even offering to reassemble anything they took apart when they picked it up.
This company is a front for fraud. They kept blackmailing me for more money which I gave them. I lost all my possessions except 5 pieces of furniture, all my household items, and all my clothing. I am seeking an attorney now to litigate this for me.. they don't even operate under their amerisafe name. They used a haul truck with two men who barely spoke english. Each time they came to my apt, they demanded more cash. On the 3rd trip they finally took some boxes. I had 20 boxes but they only delivered 6. Then they began demanding more money to deliver the items to my apt in Ohio. When I asked where my clothes were, he said I told them I didn't want them. Why would someone moving from SC to OH not want her clothes?. I am also missing my sweepers and 3 wall clocks.
Amerisafe is a company that will lie to you and tell you that your belongings will be delivered by a certain date, then you sign a contract that is many pages long. Unless you hire a lawyer to read the contract, you don’t realize that they will turn your belongings over to a company, of their choosing, that may never actually deliver them. When you call them to intervene and help you, they tell you they have no responsibility and you need to contact the mover directly. They are basically a company who takes your money and then washes their hands of you. Awful, do not ever use them.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR MOVE. Amerisafe is a broker that contracts with other companies that then actually do your move. And, the company that picks up your things may not be the same company that delivers them to your new location. When you first talk to Amerisafe and get a quote, don't be fooled by what might sound like a reasonable price. When the movers come to pick up your things, they find reasons to increase the price. My cost almost doubled from $3200 to $6100. The customer service is poor from both Amerisafe and the companies they contract with to do the move. Amerisafe does not want to hear any concerns about what is not going right. I moved from FL to NY and it took a week after I had driven the entire way myself for the delivery truck to show up. And, when it did arrive, it was just the driver. He said that they were sending other men to help, but nobody ever came. So, the driver did the entire delivery himself and he was at my place for about 7-8 hours. He was difficult to communicate with due to a language barrier and would not remove any of the packing materials that he removed from the furniture after he brought it in. I had to get rid of his garbage myself. Also, he did not want to put together things that had been taken apart by the movers that picked up my things. Amerisafe advises customers to call them if anything goes wrong during the move. However, when I called to express my concerns and ask for assistance, they said they would call the movers and get back to me. Sometimes thay did not even call me back, and, when they did, they could not provide any resolution. This has been a real nightmare. If you want a good move, I deplore you not to use Amerisafe. You will be sorry if you do. I am writing this review because I don't want others to go through the terrible experience that I did.
Worst moving experience ever. This company gave so much false information. They underestimated our move by $9000 they are a third party mover so when the actual moving company shows up (and when the company shows up you cannot cancel) it was an additional $5000 to load our items. Then when they came to deliver our items it was an additional $4000. This move went from $17,000 to $26,000. It was like paying to get your stuff stolen and then held for ransom until you pay. This is the moving experience people warn you about and it just happened to us by hiring this company.
Liars, scammers, and cheaters. Run as fast and far away as you can. They don't honor their word. If you want a good move, this should be your last choice.
Thank the Good Lord that I don't plan to ever move again. And if I do, it won't be with AmeriSafe Moving Services. We packed our own and all was well with that. They moved just our home furnishings. Lots and lots of damage, scrapes, scratches and dents. Truly disappointing.
This is the worst moving experience I have ever had! I have moved 5 times, this was number 6. The quote was under by $6,000! The van driver state he only had 350 square feet for my move. We went up to 700 square feet and the price goes up an extra $6,000? I rented a 200 square foot storage space at my destination for part of my belongings. But, they got my entire shipment into the storage unit with 2/3 of the unit unused! That wasn’t the worst disappointment. Everything had been packed in brand new boxes and loaded into the first van. 90% of all the boxes unloaded were severely damaged, most crushed! I am afraid to go through my stuff to find out the extent of the damage to my items! I wish I could upload pictures to show the damage. Do Not Use Them!!! Use a reputable moving company like Bekins or North American!
February 17th we scheduled the move with 'AmeriSafe' and came to a binding estimate of $2,000- $965 paid as a deposit for this agreement. We were told a day before the move when the movers (Vanguard Lines) would arrive, February 22nd and a window of time. They kept calling and pushed it back. Eventually they got their at 7pm, where they insisted $1250 now and $1250 (totaling $3,000- $1,000 more than we agreed upon) despite sending a detailed inventory list to 'AmeriSafe' and coming to a BINDING total of $2,000. They told us they wouldn't move my things unless we agreed. As we were working against time constraints and unable to contact 'AmeriSafe' we obliged and signed this agreement under duress. I provided the moving blanket and tape, they had... nothing... (should have been my second red flag). We called AmeriSafe the next day and spoke to Kimberly Lalacci-. There was no immediate solution or hurriedness to solve the issue or provide decent customer service. 3 days later, the truck showed up. This was a completely different truck- white and not labeled (I have pictures of everything including these trucks). Once they arrive I told the guy I would pay once the job was over, he scream in my face and said 'absolutely not, you'll pay me now.' I responded with, 'I'll pay half now and half later' he responded with 'if you want your stuff moved, you'll pay everything now.' Keep in mind, this is after we were forced to sign a ~new~ agreement with this random moving company 'AmeriSafe' contracted out. We then asked if they were planning on moving things up to the apartment, which we made very clear to 'AmeriSafe' I wanted. He laughed and said no. I proceed to move my things up with my partner for 3 hours. In the end, every box was torn or destroyed and there was hundreds of $s of damages and missing clothing/ bags and important documents. I have pictures of all damages and inventory of missing items. Awful experience.
