I have really enjoyed being part of Monday night, Southend Play Netball league and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get back into the sport or simply add something active and social to their week.
One of the best things about adult netball is having the opportunity to play regularly in an organised league. It gives you something to look forward to each week and brings together people who all enjoy the same sport. Whether you played netball years ago or have continued playing as an adult, there is something really enjoyable about getting back on court, competing as a team and having that sense of camaraderie.
The leagues provide a good opportunity to meet new people, spend time with friends and enjoy some healthy competition. Matches can be competitive, but that is part of what makes them enjoyable. There is always a real sense of achievement when your team plays well, pulls together or manages to get a good result.
I also really appreciate having adult netball available locally. It can sometimes be difficult as an adult to find organised team sport that fits around work and everyday life, so having structured leagues makes it much easier to stay involved in something you enjoy.
Playing regularly has given me the chance to stay active, continue enjoying a sport I have played for years and be part of a team environment again. It is a very different experience from simply going to the gym because there is the added social side, teamwork and competitive element.
Overall, I have had lots of memorable evenings playing netball and I am really pleased that opportunities like these exist for adults who still want to get out on court. A great way to keep playing, stay active and enjoy being part of a team.
I joined the Southend league about 9 months ago after having 40 (yikes!) years break from playing having left school. With the help of Play Netball (and two existing players) I was allocated to two teams and am now playing twice a wk. I have met some really lovely supportive players and I am now the proud owner of a netball post and ball in my back garden for daily practice!
It’s a lot of fun and it’s great to exercise weekly too. I’m really pleased I joined and would recommend anyone to do the same
We absolutely love Play Netball in Woking! It’s a great setup, really well organised, and the teams are always friendly and fun. The umpires are super helpful too — especially when we first started, they were really supportive, giving us tips and explaining what was and wasn’t allowed, which was particularly useful for those of us who hadn’t played in a while.
It’s such a fun, welcoming atmosphere and a great way to get back into netball. We love it and would highly recommend Play Netball to anyone looking to play! 🏐😊
I found Pay Netball Isle of Wight at the grand old age of 41 not having played for years!! I was so nervous that first night, hit the deck within minutes and wondered what I was doing there. But half way through the second quarter a switch flipped and I remembered a part of myself long forgotten. Not only has Play Netball brought me back to the game I used to love, it has brought me a community of wonderful people and has given me the confidence to pursue other competitive opportunities. And six years later…I am fit enough and daft enough to return to league netball. I have a lot to be thankful to you for x
I was nervous at first to join the Play Netball. However I had nothing to worry about, the whole process from enquiry to getting in a team was so smooth. You get to meet new people, play a bit of netball. The coaches are very patient with you as we had no clue about the rules to start off with.
If your looking for a friendly mix of games and some exercise, I would recommend signing up to play netball, you won’t be disappointed.
I've been playing in both the Tuesday and Sunday Colchester Netball Leagues for almost 10 years now, and I honestly can't believe how quickly that time has flown!
Over the years I've met some incredible women, built lasting friendships, and watched so many players grow in confidence and skill. Seeing people improve season after season is genuinely one of my favourite things about the league.
The atmosphere is always welcoming, supportive and encouraging, whether you're completely new to netball or have been playing for years. The umpires are fantastic too. They're knowledgeable, approachable, and always happy to offer advice and guidance to help players develop. A special shout out to Anne, whose wonderfully dry wit never fails to make me laugh!
The league has created a brilliant community of supportive, talented women, and I feel incredibly grateful to have been part of it for the past decade.
If you're thinking about joining but feel nervous, don't be. You'll be made to feel welcome from your very first game
Back to netball caters for everyone all levels welcome , lovely friendly atmosphere, don’t worry if you haven’t played for a while or just starting out , as you get better you can work your way up , it’s so much fun , I have now got so many new friends through netball, our team has get togethers which are so much fun, tournaments too 🥳great exercise and social highly recommend it , I got back in to netball when I was 30 , but then dropped out due to family commitments , then found back to netball in my late 30 s, it was perfect , I’m now 54 still going , and play 3 times a week , keeps me sane, if you loved at school come back and give it go you won’t regret it 😊
I play in the Monday night Crawley league, I'm not great - but thankfully the league caters for all and do you know what - it's fun! I'd recommend to anyone to give it a shot!
I’ve had a great time with play netball, went in on my own and matched with an amazing team put together by play netball. The umpires were so lovely when we started out, and were always willing to help us out and give us tips/help/reminders of the game as we were getting into it. Almost done whole year with the team and just loving it.
It's lot of fun and good for most abilities. A lot of the time our games start/finish a bit late/early and the intervals are longer than supposed to be which cuts down the game time when each quarter is only 8 minutes already. They cancel quite late notice because of the weather sometimes or sometimes don't cancel at all even when the courts are already really wet which risks injury and we don't get a good game despite still paying in full and not being able to play full out.
My team and I have loved playing in this league on Monday nights at Bracknell.
The league has consistently given clear and timely communication with payments, season fixtures, and social challenges to win prizes!
It is such a friendly atmosphere, with all the umpires doing amazing to make sure we stay as safe as we can.
Would highly recommend and encourage enjoying this league for some fun and exercise with your friends.

I like playing the Thursday league at st Bart’s with neturally gifted it’s lots of fun and the umpires are always happy to give advise and explain the rules to you. I didn’t rate 5 starts as the game times aren’t always split equally
I play in the Thursday Newbury league and it’s great, so much fun. I love meeting everyone and getting fit at the same time. League is run well and the empires are great.
I have been playing in the Monday night Bracknell league for 7 years and Thursday Bracknell league for 3 years.
The league is well organised, good communication between teams and Play Netball.
I love my teams and playing with them means so much to me. I get to be ‘Me’ once I step on court and I just love the competition. Lots of fun, laughs and I’ve made some great friends within the netball community.
