What people say

Took the anxiety out of selling

I have used reDollar several times. They have taken the anxiety out of selling. They provided detailed written analysis and accounting of all my submitted items. They answered all my questions to my satisfaction, making me comfortable that I was getting an honest and fair price for all my items.

Honest and Thorough!

I have used redollar on a number of occasions and they have always been fast, honest and fair. On my first submission of precious metals they immediately sent me a scale to allow me to carry with me should I be out and about looking for Gold, Silver and/or Platinum. They also have made me aware when I had purchased and sent to them fake "silver" dollars -they even paid me for the fakes to use as an example! They provide the free ship label - you send they respond ASAP and money in bank less than 24 hours!

As a metal detectorist for 10 years

As a metal detectorist for 10 years, I've never sold any of my dug up finds. I typically just put the nicer items in a display case in my home. Since the price of precious metals has risen considerably I decided to sell some gold and silver rings along with other fine jewelry and coins. After doing my research I decided to go with reDollar. I used their easy online calculator and waited for a response. Within hours they made me a very favorable offer and once I accepted they emailed me a shipping label. I admit that I was apprehensive about sending gold and silver through the mail, but when the report came back I was pleased and impressed. They were professional and communicated with me during the entire process. I am currently working on my 2nd sale to them and will be passing along their info to my fellow detectorists. Thanks reDollar.

reDollar - Open and transparent process - that is rare when selling gold!

I had some gold to sell and went to a local buyer that I previously had sold silver to. After getting their quote, I decided to investigate online options. When I came across the reDollar site, what struck we was the calculator, which showed me what I could expect to receive, assuming my gold was 14K, as I believed it was. I was reassured to proceeds knowing that my shipment to them was insured, and that I could pass on their offer and my gold would be returned. I requested a shipping kit, and they informed me that I could save time by printing out the label, following their packing instructions and dropping it off at a UPS store. Using my calculation and weight (from a digital kitchen scale), my package was insured for the expected payout. Long story short, the package got to them in a couple of days, they analyzed the gold, sent me the analysis report, and made an offer. The offer was close to exactly what the estimate from the online calculator determined. It was close to 30% more than I had been offered. I used the chat feature on the website to get instructions on how to tell them my payment preference and provide the bank information. That was all done through a secure upload portal - a nice and reassuring touch. I got an email indicating that my money will hit my bank on the first business day after today. Too often, the process of selling metals or coins feels uncomfortable due to the buyer never quite being open about how they calculate what they will pay. It feels a bit sleazy, or, at the very least, opaque. That was not the case with reDollar. Their communication is quick and accurate and you know where you are in the selling process at all times. The only negative was that I left two voice messages to talk to someone but never got a call back. This was somewhat overcome by the chat feature being staffed by humans and very responsive. All in all, this was a great experience and I will definitely use them again. I have already informed friends and family members about reDollar.

Redollar is great!

5 Star business that I will definitely use again to sell my gold. Excellent customer service every step of the way, answered every question I had in a timely manner. More than fair pricing and their shipping process made me feel safe with sending my gold to them. Gave me a price same day items were received and paid me very quickly. Thank you for a great experience redollar!

IF YOURE CONSIDERING SENDING HERE READ…

IF YOURE CONSIDERING SENDING HERE READ THIS FIRST. Three reasons that I reviewed such a low rating. 1. I had items that were 100% 14k gold and they had their lab reporting as “low grade 14k 52% so that they could offer less, that’s telling my my 14k necklace was around 12k ? No. I had my items tested before they were sent off so see what they were going to do because the also advertise 90% on gold, and btw that’s just for gold jewelry not for gold scrap, they advertise scrap at 85%. All is all I probably got offered around 75% of what it was supposed to be. Some of the items were sent in that were just garbage but I also didn’t equate that into what I should have gotten. They will lie to you about your items and I truly do believe that. 2. They advertise a very quick turn around. It took me 10 days to get paid via direct deposit. You’re looking at 15+days of it’s any other way other than instant. 3.there are no options to get paid in 24 hrs other than Zelle. And the customer service team does reply quick but half of them are automated messaged that don’t actually awnser anything. Takeaway? Send your items to another company that’s rated better and has better transparency and tells the truth.

Gold purity deviation is quite common in jewelry and is not a secret. Not every piece of jewelry that bears a gold stamp contains exactly the gold purity indicated. The gold purity, especially in custom-made jewelry, antique/vintage pieces, or jewelry made in foreign countries, can often vary by a few percent. We provide detailed information on this topic on our website at https://www.redollar.com/process/testing-equipment.html to equip our customers with an in-depth understanding. Our website features a transparent gold calculator, along with various pages that clearly publish our prices. With accurate calculations, it is simple to verify that we always uphold our price promise without any exceptions. While we offer a very quick turnaround, shipping delays caused by the carrier are beyond our control. In this particular case, the customer shipped their package on 2/19, and we received and processed it on 2/24. If customers can only receive funds via cash apps and accept our offer in the evening after normal banking hours, our ability to provide instant payments is limited due to cut-off times beyond our control. Unfortunately, cash apps do not support instant payments like major banks do.

Best place to sell your unwanted jewelry

I have sold many pieces of jewelry that were inherited by relatives who passed away. Also stuff my wife just does not wear anymore. And with gold at an all time high, it makes sense to sell and put the money towards other things. I have checked with local gold buyers that claim to pay high prices only to have Redollar blow them out of the water. At this point Redollar is the only company I will use from now on. Unfortunately I am running out of jewelry to sell, lol. Great job and thanks as always.

Great company with a good turnaround time and great prices

I was nervous sending gold and silver through the mail, so I didn’t send much the first time to check it out. Everything was really easy and got paid instantly. Since then I’ve sent in stuff pretty regularly, usually around $1000 but up to $2500. I started using the ACH deposit instead of a check and it’s always in my bank account the next day. I don’t send gold or silver anywhere else now, no one is as easy and pays as well. Very happy with their service!

Total Scam

I haven't ever sold jewelry online, but had to sell a gorgeous diamond ring I inherited. No idea what it was worth, so was happy to find redollar and asked for the free mail-in appraisal kit they advertise online. Instead of sending I was surprised to get a reply from Susan Parker asking me for details about the stones and my price expectations for the ring. Replied that I had no idea what grade the stones are, or what it was worth ... but isn't appraisals what you do at redollar? She replied: "send more photos. based on your photos we will give you an estimate" so I did, even sent a quick video of the ring. Next reply, I get asked for my price expectations again ??!! and knowing diamond value varies greatly so confused not to receive the help with an appraisals as promised ... I did some quick research and sent an uneducated guess using an average of 3 comparable looking rings that I found online, Instead of sending the kit and giving an appraisal as promised, I was told and they could not meet my price expectations and as such would not be "distancing themselves" from the purchase of the ring. Very disappointed to receive no help with the appraisal, which is advertised on their site. It's false advertising.

If we are unable to meet or come close to meeting our customers' price expectations, we believe it is in the best interest of both parties to avoid unnecessary shipping costs and time incurred by accepting a piece of jewelry. Yes, we offer appraisals; however, if we cannot meet someone's price expectations due to differing price perceptions between buyer and seller, there is no point in accepting an item when there is no basis for a successful sales transaction.

Warning...DO NOT send them any melted…

Warning...DO NOT send them any melted metal and/or agree to a melt test. If their XRF machine can't determine as they claim, request your metal back and find another avenue to sell. Don't settle.. Once your metal is altered by them, they will claim half purity and take you for half it's value. Gold and silver does Not disappear when melted. At that point, it's your word against theirs. What I sent them was 100% verified, so I agreed to melt test. They got me for over $500. They are not the only one's who know metals. Recommended by a Police detective?? LOL, like the one's caught on video in a corrupt act? I FAAFO, but you do you. Edit: They will investigate themselves, find no wrongdoing and reply to this review defensively. Edit #2: High tech as using Aqua Regia solution and Sodium Metabisulfite? Yea, I know a little also. There is some science in it, but not what you're shoveling. Again folks, use at your own risk. A "melt test" is just a legal loophole to short you.

This is what happened: The customer sent melted material that was classified as VERY low-grade, potentially gold-filled material with little to no monetary value. Our laboratory sent the following message to the customer via email: “…shows indications of being gold-filled or VERY low-karat gold. Melting would be necessary. Only agree if you understand the risk of receiving a disappointing assay.” The customer responded, “Yes, I agree to the melt request.” Our lab reached out a second time, sending this message: "Please note that there is a very high risk that the items are gold-filled/plated (or have low gold content). Do you really want us to proceed with the melt test?” The customer responded: “Yes, I did agree.” Our lab then proceeded with the melt test and confirmed what was already assumed: the submitted melted materials contained only a small amount of pure gold, which led to the customer's disappointment. We did everything possible to make the customer aware of the risk of receiving a low gold assay. We strongly recommend that private individuals do not buy melted materials for resale. Only a high-tech lab has the means to accurately handle melted materials; private individuals will NOT be able to perform an accurate test. Very often, melted materials are made to deceive buyers, and it then falls on us to present the unpleasant truth that the material purchased has little to no monetary value. All our test results are 100% accurate, and we regret that the customer incurred a loss by buying and reselling merchandise of unknown value.
