Warning to all crowdfunders – You will likely lose everything like I did

I invested in OhmniLabs through a SAFE on Republic, trusting in the company’s mission and the promise of potential equity upside. Years later, the company was acquired by Symbotic – a successful exit by any standard – yet we, the early supporters, received absolutely nothing. No profits, no buyout, not even symbolic recognition. Just an email saying that "there were no proceeds left after debt was paid" and that our shares are now "worthless". The SAFE was converted into common stock as a legal formality, but these shares hold no financial value, and the company will be liquidated after 18–24 months with no expectation of any return. This wasn’t bad luck – this is a recurring tactic among startups: raise capital from small retail investors, then structure future deals to reward insiders and debt-holding executives, while wiping out the public. This is not just mismanagement – it’s structural abuse of crowdfunders. If you're considering investing via Republic or into a startup like OhmniLabs, know this: 👉 You carry all the risk 👉 You have no control 👉 And when the company “succeeds”, you will likely be left with nothing I am sharing this experience on additional investor forums, media outlets, and review platforms to help protect others from falling into the same trap.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Would never use this company again. Formerly used to be "seedrs". And they absolutely ripped off a load of us on an investment. And when trying to highlight the issue on their onsite forum, we all got private emails from a supposed law firm telling us to stop and they banned us from commenting, but then invited us to make further investments, ha! What are they trying to hide?? So basically they don't want whistleblowers. Honestly, put your money into stocks or Lisa's don't chase this dream, even if your investment works, like outs did and it was bought out. We all got shafted.

Absolutely 0 communication after investment.

I invested in three companies back in 2021. I haven't heard one word since! I knew it wasn't a very liquid investment, but I'm very surprised that the platform doesn't require companies to update investors on how they're doing. An annual update is not too much to ask for! I think one of the businesses is going under, because they've stopped updating their socials and blog. But how to know? Will anyone tell me? Are my other investments doing well? Close to an IPO? Close to bankruptcy? After four years I have literally no way of knowing!

Can I give this company zero stars??

Can I give this company zero stars? Their acquisition of Nextseed has been a disaster. Their customer support and investor relations is completely useless. I made five investments of $5k each for a total of $25k. Four of those investments are out of business. I understand the risk but what I don't understand is poor investor relations. I have been trying to get tax forms for two of the entities for the past year and Nextseed / Republic won't admit that the businesses are bankrupt. They are in my hometown so it's not hard to see! I've invested in several other crowdsource platforms with great investor relations support. If you want to have money taken from you by a company that then provides no support, information or help then go ahead and invest. I hope this review scares anyone away from doing business with them.

Impossible to sell on secondary market

Impossible to sell on secondary market. If only they made it clear when signing up and initially investing that they can trap your money on this platform for as long as they like. I've been trying to put my shares for sale on secondary market now for over one year and for the duration of this time the company has been inelligible for sale with no reasons given. Meaning I can't put them up for sale or know whenever it may be the case that I can again. Don't invest on here unless you want to completeley lose all control.

Lost all my money

I have invested significant amount of money via this platform (formerly Seedrs). And lost all of it. Without any clear communication from the platform and no reflection what so ever. I deleted my account and would highly recommend anyone to stay away as far as possible from this platform. Even till the end when it was clear my return on the investment would be down to zero it shows that i would be making a significant win.

Absolute scam

Stay away from this platform unless you want to lose all of your money. I just lost my whole investment because of dodgy practices by one of their businesses Bux and Republic (who rebranded from Seeders). They have been withholding information the whole time, blocking investors from selling their shares and then ensuring that a small group of investors make a tone of money for the sake of earlier investors in the business. Republic let that happen and I see as equally guilty as the dodgy management of Bux. They should be all in prison!!

Very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Republic's presale process. Initially, the presale was set for a specific time, but it was postponed by 30 minutes without much explanation. Annoying, but I was willing to wait. However, after the first delay, they postponed it again for another 30 minutes. Now, I’m in the middle of the second delay, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they push it back yet again. This lack of punctuality and poor communication is unprofessional and incredibly frustrating. If Republic values their users’ time and trust, they need to take these issues seriously and ensure they deliver on their commitments. This experience has made me question whether I can rely on them in the future.

Communication of the platform is…

Communication of the platform is horrible and unacceptable. The company I invested is acquired almost 1,5 year ago. Lot of people invested and are clueless because of a lack of communication and clearity. I would not invest via this platform again l and won’t advice others to do so too!
