What people say

Scam moving company using name similar to reputable company

Virtual estimate for cross country move was about $10,000, but on the day the move, while they were loading, came up with a total cost of $21,000. They also required cash on delivery. Also named the amount of tips for each worker. Used a name very similar to a reputable moving company to scam people. The trucks they used were rental trucks, taped over with a large "United Regions Van Lines" sign. BEWARE. This is definitely a questionable moving company out to scam people.

I have to say that the young men I…

I have to say that the young men I dealt with for packing and delivering were wonderful, courteous, and hard working. However, the actual delivery of my items was very disappointing. My home was under construction and so my paintings (original oils and very valuable especially to me) could not be hung immediately. In fact, I TRUSTED that all the paintings I had set aside to be wrapped and packed carefully would arrive. However, upon arrival, the packages were huge (multiple paintings with bubble wrap inside cardboard packaging.). With construction finally complete and winter over, I unwrapped the packages. MORE THAN HALF MY PAINTINGS ARE MISSING. COMPLETELY MISSING. ALL OF THE ORIGINAL OILS. I immediately reached out to the company. CRICKETS. NOT EVEN AN EMAILED APOLOGY SAYING ANYTHING. I AM HEARTSICK. The paintings were valuable financially and emotionally. I find it interesting that my less valuable prints somehow made it but all my original oils and photographs ARE GONE!! I’m sorry to say that this looks like outright thievery

Do not trust this company. Not even a little!

If I could I would put zero stars. Do not trust this company. Not even a little!!! United Region Van Lines took one of the most stressful experiences of our lives and turned it into an absolute nightmare. I want to save anyone reading this from making the same mistake we did. The sales rep quoted us $9,973 for a full Colorado-to-Massachusetts move after a video walkthrough of our entire home. He pressured us to sign on December 31st with a "year-end discount expiring today." That urgency was manufactured. The low quote was a lie. Charges piled on at every turn: items deliberately left off the list, a surprise Bowflex surcharge on moving day, a $1,213 "recalculation" the week before, and a $3,000 shuttle fee buried in the fine print. By the end, our bill was $19,808, nearly double what we were promised! When I refused to pay, the mover asked what he should take off the truck. We were moving across the country. There was nothing to leave behind. They knew that. We were forced to pay 60% in cash and money orders just to guarantee our belongings would be delivered at all. Delivery took 21 days when the contract says 0-17 days. We sat in our new home in Massachusetts for a month with no furniture, no beds, no kitchen, nothing but what fit in our SUV. No apology. No compensation. When our stuff finally arrived, boxes were crushed and multiple items were broken. Worst of all, they lost our children's growth stick, every height marked from birth to today. Gone. After weeks of a grueling claims process, they offered us $86. And they had the audacity to attach a non-disparagement agreement to that offer, requiring us to stay silent in exchange. We refused. When I called to complain on moving day, a rep told me I "shouldn't always trust people." That is who you are dealing with. STAY AWAY! This company should not be in business, they are the worst.

Beware of United Regions Van Lines

Beware of United Regions Van Lines We found United Regions Van Lines online and read reviews of their services, which were all glowing. Headlines in their web content state “Discover How United Regions Ensures a stress-free move,” and “Our meticulous packing process.” The company provided us with the most disappointing, stressful, unprofessional move we’ve ever had including breakage and lost items, and a cabinet full of items left in our home after the van left. We were offered zero assistance in resolving getting those items on our van. The company has the marks of a scam operation: build trust and bait using lofty sounding ideals and promises, and switch to bottom tier services and cost hikes. When I began questioning the ballooning estimates and expressing my frustration, customer service became belligerent and condescending. We have packed and moved ourselves over a dozen times and we did a far better job than this every every time. We had hoped to have a stress free move. United Regions Van Lines had the opposite. We strongly advise anyone considering using URVL to steer clear.

URVL is a joke company

URVL is the worst company I have ever done business with. Sales teams are deceptive, using tactics that omit information and “bait and switch” customers. My sales rep was Angel, I believe working out of headquarters office in Waukesha. Expect to pay all the additional fees in the small print of the contract. Once you are locked in to a contract, they squeeze you for every cent they can get. I was quoted appx $9k for a move from WI to OR. Was told they “always overestimate item and load size to ensure enough room on the truck”. I paid $1800 extra for guaranteed delivery date so I would have time to unpack before starting my job. They happily took my money knowing the driver was not going to make it on schedule. I had a gps tracker with my load and it sat in the WI holding location until the day it was supposed to ARRIVE in OR. I was charged $800 for tape and boxes at pickup. My bill increased to $17k when the truck was loaded. They make you pay with cash and do not accept credit cards. Once they have your stuff, they hold it hostage, and you have no choice but to pay up or get hit with additional late or holding fees. Called customer service daily only to get blown off by their service “Manager “ Phyllis. Customer service and communication were awful the entire experience. Delivery was a week late (of course the contract has a buffer of 6 business days so they don’t have to refund you extra fee for guaranteed delivery). Upon delivery, I was charged another $1800 because a shuttle was needed even though delivery was to a single family home in a typical residential neighborhood with plenty of road and parking space. The whole experience made my move a nightmare. Don’t trust Google reviews. Check Yelp, BBB, Reddit and other review websites online. There are even FB groups of people who got cheated by this company! Stay away!

Avoid Using United Region Van Lines

My recommendation would be to seek quotes and service elsewhere. For starters, I'm not coming at this from a purely novice perspective, I spent 30-years in transportation, logistics and distribution, so I know a thing or two about how things can work! It mostly comes down to planning and knowing what you have in your pipeline and matching up drivers etc. Having said that I also realize there are intricacies to the moving specialty. First and foremost, their communication is horrible, anytime I needed an update or information, I had to call them. They were late for their pick-up window, which I found out only by calling them. They were well aware that I was moving a 3800 sq ft home and would require a full-size moving van; they showed up with a box truck (singular) and then were surprised when they couldn't fit it all in. They took all day to load only to tell me they would have to come back the next day to finish. I requested they arrive at 9, they showed up at 11:00; again, took all day to load, meanwhile we had a 13-hour drive in front of us! I was told they would have my delivery date by the end of the day and that I could state that I would like delivery within a certain period of time. Needless to say; none of that was true. Yes, I could have paid extra for a specific delivery...when I contracted with them, not however at time of pick-up or even a week ahead. By law they have ~21 days to deliver your household, they took every minute of the legal requirement. Finally, delivery day, which again was delayed and not when they initially told me. Why, because they couldn't finish loading in one day! Did they secure our goods before ending that day...NO. In fact, they left about 1/4 of our goods out in the elements to get soaked. The drivers tried to claim it was rain on the drive. No, these vans are sealed and at best items would have been damp. No, we had mold, boxes were soaked all the through and 2 mattresses were completely soaked through, sorry United Regions that isn't a van leak! The driver showed up smelling like marijuana and the dispatchers completely dismissed me when I called in to report it. We moved into a new build; I asked them to mind the floors only to watch the driver who stunk of pot to purposely drag the flat of his dolly along the floor. This same driver was on the end of a couch going upstairs and ran into the wall leaving a 6x12 hole in the wall! They destroyed a plastic bin which subsequently broke framed pictures (bubble wrapped), they damaged our footboard, dresser and dining room table (they packed and wrapped). When I called there was nothing but "file a claim". I filed our claim, it cost us thousands to replace mattresses, clean all our clothes that were soaked, repair the flooring, wall, and dining room table. Their offer $75.00, no, I'm not missing a 0, they offered $75.00. I came with receipts, with bills, with pictures, everything that was required. TRUST ME, YOU CAN DO MUCH BETTER THAN WITH THIS COMPANY!

They broke more of our things than they previous 9 moves combined, including 3 international moves.

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against a Wisconsin-based moving company, United Regions Van Lines, 1515 Ellis St, Waukesha, WI 53186, regarding their inadequate estimation of my household goods, deceptive description of services provided, and grossly negligent handling of my household goods during a move conducted on August 23, 2024. During the course of the move, the company broke several valuable items, including irreplaceable personal belongings of significant sentimental and monetary value. Despite my immediate documentation and reporting of the damages, the company has failed to take responsibility or offer a fair settlement. Their mediation process has been unresponsive, dismissive, and ultimately ineffective. In fact, after submitting itemized details of the damages amounting to more than $4000 – through their chosen mediator – Moving Claims – United Regions Van Lines offered us a settlement of $96. It has now been over a year since the move, and despite repeated attempts to resolve the matter amicably, I have received no compensation or meaningful communication from the company. I believe this behavior constitutes a violation of consumer protection standards and reflects a troubling pattern of disregard for customer rights.

Disrespect for my items

Disrespect for my items. Many damaged or broken. They packed things that I did not need or want packed. Such as my garbage in my outdoor garbage can. Some items never received. Items came in more than one shipment when I was promised they would all be on the same truck. Once you speak with a salesperson they disappear and you can no longer speak to them. They raised my price by $5,000 after they had the truck loaded. When I called the company they said they would unload it all in the driveway. My closing was in two days. They had me over a barrel.

I do not recommend United Regions Van…

I do not recommend United Regions Van Lines, you can do better. The actual movers were generally effcient and polite (if a bit careless and rushed), but the sales and customer service agents are dishonest and not transparent. You will end up paying much more than the initial quote. My initial quote for a cross country move was around $12k, my sales agent (Chris) promised it would not vary much and there would be no surprises, I was also told the use of a shuttle was very rare. In the end I paid close to 50% more, some of this was due to slightly greater volume than anticipated - although even this I put this down to our use of the full packing service that clearly worked to maxmize volume with absurd amounts of packaging and half empty boxes. The remaining addional costs were random new fees that were not in the quote and never discussed, plus the insistence that a $2k shuttle was needed (at the last minute, despite them knowing the address for 3 months). I remain highly skeptical that the shuttle was needed, and suspect this is an intentional part of their strategy to low-ball the estimate and then maximize extras. By the end it felt like a scam. They will argue everything was in the contract, but this is also not true with several of the fees they tried to add. We had several damaged items as the packing was quite careless. I am yet to see whether they will honor claims, but am not holding my breath.

Thank you for your feedback. While we’re glad to hear that our movers were efficient and polite — which you acknowledged — we need to clarify several key points in your review, as it contains multiple misleading claims and omits important facts about your move. 1. Estimate vs. Final Cost You received an initial estimate of approximately $12,000, which was based on the inventory and services you provided at the time of booking. Like every customer, you were informed that this was a non-binding estimate subject to change based on actual cubic footage and additional services requested or required, including packing. Your final bill reflected: Slightly increased volume due to added items and full packing service Industry-standard packing practices, which include wrapping items for safety — not to “inflate volume” Additional services agreed to on-site, including stair carry and shuttle usage You were also given discounts totaling over $1,100, including: $776 off packing $375 off stair carry charges Those savings were applied proactively and in good faith. 2. Shuttle Fee The shuttle was required due to the geography and road access at your delivery location — specifically, a narrow, mountainous approach where a full-size moving truck could not safely or legally maneuver. This determination is made by our logistics and driver team, not the sales agent, and only when no alternative is feasible. You were notified in advance, and the shuttle fee is part of our standard published rate schedule, consistent with DOT regulations. To imply the shuttle was an intentional surprise or part of a “scam” is both inaccurate and unfounded. 3. Claims Process You noted minor damage, which — while unfortunate — can happen in any long-distance move. That is exactly why we have a claims process in place. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to submit the appropriate documentation so your concerns can be reviewed promptly. 4. Transparency and Sales Conduct You were never promised that your quote was final or guaranteed. In fact, DOT law prohibits binding estimates unless inventory is verified and frozen at the time of signing, which was not the case here. All estimate and pricing terms were clearly outlined in your contract and verbally explained by your sales agent. Final Position We delivered your belongings professionally and efficiently under contract, issued significant discounts, and followed all proper procedures regarding shuttle use, packing, and volume-based pricing. While we respect your opinion, your claim that this was a "scam" is inaccurate, and we strongly disagree with that characterization. If you have a pending claim or unresolved question, we encourage you to call our office directly so we can assist you. Sincerely, Customer Service Team United Regions Van Lines

Not recommended

While the packers did a good job of wrapping furniture, how it was handled later showed the complete lack of care or concern when several pieces arrived with severe damage. One large box with some glass and ceramic was clearly dropped and shattered 5 pieces inside. Other boxes had broken items as well. Several pieces arrived with missing parts like ladders with no base on one side, how they managed to do that I don't know. It also took the full 3 weeks for them to finally show up and deliver. Surprisingly everything did show up and most boxes and furniture were intact, the overall experience was very poor and would not recommend.

VERY DECEPTIVE, ABUSIVE, UNRELIABLE

I had a deep, grossly disappointing experience with United Region Van Lines. From start to finish, the move was riddled with issues. First, the crew arrived over two days late at 9:00 PM and stayed till 2 am in the morning. They seemed disorganized didn’t have correct equipment to move my Grand Piano (I let them use my dolly) and rushed through the packing process, resulting in several damaged items, including a cracking and scratching my grand piano amongst other items and missing boxes. Communication was another major problem. I was given inconsistent updates, and no one seemed to take ownership when I tried to get answers. The delivery was delayed by 14 days without a clear explanation, and every time I called, I was bounced between departments with no resolution. To make matters worse, the final bill included several hidden fees (for shrink wrap that I was never asked to approve or consent to) that were never discussed beforehand. When I challenged the charges, customer service was dismissive, rude and unhelpful. I chose this company based on “some” positive reviews and my initial quote ($5500, which increased to over $13,00 after the onsite evaluation) and a promise of professionalism, and the use of non brokered trucks or equipment. But my experience was anything but. I would highly avoid united regions and move yourself if necessary or look for to anyone looking for a reliable and stress-free move. .

Damage claim filed with United Regions Van Lines

At the request of United Regions Van Lines, we filed a loss claim with movingclaims.net. The damages caused by United Regions Van Lines during our move exceeded $20,000. After taking 6 hours to complete the intentionally difficult forms on movingclaims.net, we were eventually offered $96 to settle! BBB shows movingclaims.net legal name is Moving Claim Services in Weston, Florida. BBB says not to confuse this company with Moving Claim Services in Malden, Ma. The names are the same, the web sites are very similar. According to the BBB, the legal name of the Weston, Fl company is Networld Enterprises, Inc., whose principal agent is listed as Kimhi Itzhak. Florida’s Secretary of State business site says this company was formed in May 2012 and was DISSOLVED in Sept 2020!!! WHO PROCESSED MY CLAIM????? What are their ties to United Regions Van Lines, legally know as Moving Nations Deliveries, a Florida FOREIGN entity???

We went did a phone walk through…

We went did a phone walk through inventory of our home. We included all our furniture and the quote was $11000.00. We paid the $2700.00 deposit. When it was closer to the move date they called and raised the price to $17000.00 because we could not afford the inflated price we canceled within the allowed time frame. We were told they cut checks on the 15 and 30th of the month and would be refunded our deposit. Today they are claiming we did not cancel in time, which is a lie. They now refusing to refund our deposit. This company is a scam. I wish my husband would have done some research. I hired another company who moved us for $8300.00 they didn't require a deposit and I scheduled one week prior to our move. We moved 200 miles

Thank you for your feedback. We have reviewed your concerns and would like to clarify the facts based on our records and company policies. Estimate and Inventory Review Your original quote of $11,000 was based on the inventory provided during the initial phone walkthrough. Prior to the scheduled move, we conducted a standard quality assurance review and determined that the volume and services required exceeded what was initially disclosed. As is standard in the moving industry, the estimate was updated accordingly and communicated to you in advance. Cancellation Policy Our records indicate that your cancellation request was received outside of the contractually agreed cancellation window, which is why the deposit became non-refundable. These terms are outlined clearly in your signed agreement. If you have written proof of a timely cancellation that contradicts our internal documentation, we invite you to provide it for review. Refund and Payment Schedule We understand your concern regarding the refund timeline. However, refunds are issued only when cancellations are made within the designated cancellation period. If you were initially advised of a refund and it was later revoked, it would have been due to updated verification that the cancellation was not submitted within the allowable window. We’re glad to hear that your relocation was ultimately completed to your satisfaction with another provider. That said, we stand by our policies and procedures, and we remain committed to handling all customer interactions professionally and transparently. If you have documentation to support your cancellation timeline, please forward it to our customer service team so we may review it thoroughly. Sincerely, Customer Service Team United Regions Van Lines

United Regions Van Lines has a problem…

United Regions Van Lines has a problem with their estimates. My original estimate, done with a walk-through video was for approximately $10K. I paid the deposit, signed and agreed. A few weeks later I got a call wanting to review my inventory. No video this time, just going through the list verbally. When I asked why they didn't just look at the video, they said they did not have access to it - apparently this was another office. Apparently, the original estimate missed some items, so it was increased to approx. $12K. I paid an additional deposit. Today the movers arrived, looked around and decided that my estimate was way too low. I now have more than one truck full of items. New estimate $18K, maybe more if they need a second truck. I was told I could agree to the new figure or decide which of my things I wanted to leave behind. I cancelled my move and forfeited the deposit. I will also lose my pet moving fee, and air fare. The amount of money is not the issue - the unprofessional handling of the whole estimate process just left me feeling like I was being taken advantage of. I don't know who all the players were, but apparently there is zero communication between the estimator, the re-estimator, and the movers. I can understand that it is an "estimate," and that the price may be higher - thus my agreeing to the second estimate. But the final offer was almost twice the original estimate, despite doing a walk through, a video, and a verification of the inventory, AND they said it would likely be higher still as the new estimate was based on only using one truck, which they did not think would be enough space. I suspect they would have gotten it all into one truck and then I was supposed to be relieved that they did so well and saved me some money for the second truck! For reference, my home is 1200 sq. ft., 3BR but only one bed as the other two bedrooms are used as offices (desks) - rather small, and I have about 200 cu. ft. of garage stuff. I am not a novice at moving as I was in the military and moved, many, many times long distance. I read some other reviews that were not so good, but it seemed the good reviews outweighed the bad so I felt comfortable. What a mistake! Needless to say, I do not recommend this company. In response to United Regions Van Lines rebuttal, I add the following: Your rebuttal states: " the circumstances leading to the situation were a direct result of discrepancies between the inventory you initially provided and the actual volume of goods to be moved." There was no discrepancy between the inventory provided and the actual volume of goods as the inventory was never checked against my household goods. The driver came in - walked through the house and decided it was underestimated. He did not check the items against the inventory list or do any type of item count assessment - just a quick walk through looking at each room for a few seconds. This gave me the impression that he was going to raise the price no matter what he found as the assumption at that point is that I have already invested my deposit, made my plans for travel, etc., and that I was between a rock and a hard place. Sadly for him I was not, and I decided I would rather lose the $3,000+ deposit, rather than an additional $6,000 ($8,000 if you go by the initial video estimate). While you may be in compliance with the letter of the law, there is also a level of trust and confidence required for a transaction of this type. You no longer have my trust and confidence.

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent experience. We appreciate the opportunity to clarify what occurred during the moving process. Estimate Process and Inventory Review As clearly outlined in our terms and conditions, all moving estimates are based on the inventory information provided by the customer. In your case, an initial walk-through video and inventory review were conducted, and a preliminary estimate of approximately $10,000 was issued based on what you showed and stated at that time. Following that, a second review was conducted verbally to verify the inventory. At that point, discrepancies were identified between the original video and the actual list of items to be moved. Accordingly, the estimate was adjusted to approximately $12,000, with your full acknowledgment and an additional deposit collected. When the movers arrived on-site, it became clear that the actual volume of items present was significantly greater than previously represented, requiring more truck space and labor than was originally estimated. At that point, a revised estimate was provided based on the true scope of work required. We made multiple efforts—including both a video and an inventory confirmation—to accurately assess the move prior to the moving date. However, inconsistent information from your end led to unavoidable adjustments. Communication and Coordination While you mentioned concerns about communication between departments, it is important to understand that operational adjustments are a normal part of the moving industry, particularly for long-distance moves. Different teams (sales, QA, dispatch, and drivers) specialize in different parts of the process to ensure thorough review and service delivery. Our team made every good-faith effort to work with you, update your estimate appropriately based on your disclosed information, and avoid unexpected surprises on the day of the move. Final Decision We regret that you chose to cancel your move, resulting in the forfeiture of your deposit, but the circumstances leading to the situation were a direct result of discrepancies between the inventory you initially provided and the actual volume of goods to be moved. We appreciate your past moving experience, but in this instance, it is important to acknowledge that our company followed proper procedure and was prepared to honor the contract based on accurate information. If you require further clarification or assistance with documentation, please feel free to contact our office. Sincerely, Customer Service Team United Regions Van Lines

This was the worst move experience…

This was the worst move experience ever. Stated one price and demanded 2k cash after packing truck. Received over 25 days after requested date. Broke plastic boxes, damaged most furniture and lost a box with art. Glassware all broken. Insurance firm is a fraud. Impossible. Not customer service after and showed up with only one mover so we ended up helping. Be careful of this company. I tried for months but they don’t care to make things right

Thank you for your feedback. We regret that you were dissatisfied with your moving experience and appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. Pricing and Additional Charges Your final cost was based on the actual volume and services required at the time of pickup, in accordance with the terms outlined in your signed agreement. Any additional charges were presented before proceeding, not after loading. No unauthorized or surprise charges were issued—only adjustments reflecting the actual work involved. Delivery Timeline Per our contract, the delivery window is 0–17 business days from the first available delivery date, not from the pickup date. Delays, while rare, can occur due to factors such as route logistics, capacity, or weather, and are within the timeframes allowed by federal moving regulations. Damage and Claims We provide access to a third-party claims service for reporting damage or missing items. While we understand the claims process can be detailed, it follows industry standards designed to fairly evaluate and resolve claims. If assistance was needed with filing, our customer service team would have been happy to help. Labor at Delivery Occasionally, due to scheduling factors, additional labor may not be immediately available at delivery. However, it is never the customer’s obligation to assist unless they voluntarily choose to do so. We apologize if this caused inconvenience. We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. If you have not yet completed the claims process, we encourage you to do so to allow for formal review and resolution. Sincerely, Customer Service Team United Regions Van Lines

First to last detail - the absolute 💯 best!

United Regions has moved me and my belongings twice. From the first contact by phone to the delivery of my things - EVERY CONTACT PERSON was knowledgeable, polite, personable, willing to answer any questions, took time with my particular request - and made both my moves pleasurable, quick and efficient. In particular, Vlad and Russell - the two gentlemen who picked up my belongings and then delivered them - were amazingly efficient - knew exactly what needed to be done - worked quickly and competently - and made sure to text me with updates on their arrival time. I have spoken the praises of United Regions to other people - recommended United Regions to people who are moving - and will continue to do so. And an especially heartfelt "Thank you!" to Vlad and Russell who delivered my possessions on February 23, 2025!!!!
