After donating my vehicle
After donating my vehicle, I never heard anything from them again until now! I never received (as promised) a tax (rebate?) form. I checked the Spam folder and found it. Thanks.
Thank you for reaching out and I’m sorry for any confusion. A preliminary tax receipt was emailed to you on September 5, 2025, at 8:59 AM Central Time. It’s not uncommon for these to get filtered into junk or spam, so please check there. For your convenience, I also emailed you a new copy today. Vehicles for Veterans has proudly donated close to 200 million dollars to charities across the country. You are welcome to contact any of our benefiting charities directly and they can personally confirm the impact your donation helps make. Our primary benefiting organizations include: Homes for Our Troops Hope for the Warriors Fisher House Foundation Operation Homefront K9s for Warriors The Gary Sinise Foundation FourBlock Foundation Operation Second Chance Veterans Airlift Command We are typically among the largest private donors to many of these partners and every vehicle donated helps fund the programs and services they provide to veterans and their families. Given this information and confirmation that your receipt was sent, we would appreciate if you could revise your review to reflect these facts. We take transparency and accountability very seriously and are proud of the difference our donors help create. Thank you again for your generous support and for your service.

Knowing that my donation was going to…
Knowing that my donation was going to help our Veterans. We can't do enough for them. My husband served in Vietnam during 1968-1969 then returned home to pass away from cancer due to Agent Orange exposure.
I donated two motorcycles
I donated two motorcycles. Communication was terrible and I had to rearrange my entire work schedule because the people picking them up did not communicate nor even care if I knew anything at all about them coming. The time I was given was a joke and they never showed up. I called V for Vets, spoke to some guy who said “I don’t know, call the trucking company”. Then, I keep getting email and texts stating “something’s wrong with the title” for one of the bikes, incidentally a bike worth about $6k. The email said “someone will contact you” but I haven’t heard a thing. So this smells like a scam, I donated a very nice bike worth a decent amount of money to help a vet. What I got for that was extra work, worry and not even a donation I can use on my taxes. Apparently there’s a title problem but I haven’t heard a word, which makes me think that someone is just using that bike as if I gifted it to them instead of a vet. The second bike apparently “sold for $900” but I got a letter in the mail that said “we can’t give a receipt unless you write your SSN on this paper and return it to us.” Seriously, can anything sound more like a scam? Why was I never told any of these things when I first inquired? All in all, I wish I would’ve just sold the bikes myself or given them away to a friend. It wasn’t worth the trouble, didn’t help any vet, didn’t give a tax donation, was super frustrating, smacked of a scam the whole time, and remains unresolved. They say no good deed goes unpunished, well that’s true with these morons and I’ll never do anything like that ever again. Ever. Never. Yes, it’s that fly by night. Ridiculous. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Jeff, We’re sorry to hear about your experience and want to clarify a few things so there’s no confusion. The request for your Social Security Number is not from us- it’s a requirement from the IRS (the government), not Vehicles for Veterans. The IRS requires a donor’s SSN for any vehicle that sells for more than $500 if you plan to itemize your taxes and claim a deduction above that amount. You don’t need to provide it if you’re not itemizing or don’t wish to claim the tax benefit. Regarding your donations, I can confirm both motorcycles were processed through our normal auction and title-handling system, and we’re actively working through the title issue you mentioned to ensure everything is properly transferred and closed out. We truly appreciate your generosity in donating two motorcycles to support veterans, and I apologize that the pickup process and communication were frustrating. That’s not the experience we want donors to have, and I’ll be sharing your feedback with our logistics team. Thank you again for your patience and for supporting our mission to help veterans.

It was very easy to set up the pickup of the non-running car. In addition, Vehicles For Veterans took care of the title release and provided us with the sale price at auction.
