I have had three consecutive appointments canceled for a simple follow up visit. Interesting enough each time the tech is having car issues. Really???? I don’t think so. I am going to look for another security company and cancel this one.

Worst customer service experience i have ever had. After over an hour on the phone to simply request I want my service cancelled immediately I was put on hold numerous times & transferred to what was supposed to be the agent to handle my request. He asked for my name & address & then i was disconnected. I cld back & the same thing happened! I do not have time or patience to deal with this kind of business, very unprofessional & inconsiderate of my need.

Salesperson misrepresented the product…
Salesperson misrepresented the product and trial period. We are not even 30 days in and being told we can't cancel our service. Our apps do not work. The garage door that we were told would be functional is not and we are being told it will not be. We are being told now that we need to purchase a warranty for the equipment at an additional cost. We requested a C02 detector that the sales rep didn't notice we had with ADT and rep stated he would send his tech back out. No one told us it was going to be an extra $107.00. It was also left out that during the build our builder had contracted ADT to have the home wired to their system and hence why our garage door opener will jo longer function remotely. I have made multiple calls over a 2 week period and just keep getting hung up on or empty promises. We want out of this contract.

Okay so I had a great tech at first he was good did a great install, but I found later he had broken one of my antique vases and it was Swarovski crystal- and I went to confront the tech about how he had broken my vase and hid it-and he proceeded to get tense and hostile at the confrontation so i decided it was in my safer interest to not pursue the issue further.

Okay experience so far, but we have had some connectivity issues with our devices and they have been going offline a lot.

We appreciate your feedback. We are concerned about the connectivity problems you've encountered and are actively looking into solutions to improve device stability.
I discovered later that the thermostate only had two programs. Even cheap thermostates have 7 day programming.
It also appears that the thermostatye has difficulty maintaining a consistent temperature.

We're sorry to hear you're dissatisfied with your thermostat's performance. We understand how frustrating it can be when a device doesn't offer the programming flexibility you expected and when it struggles to maintain a consistent temperature. I was using another service but when I saw how Vivant had a better product ,the team worked with to no end to swap alarm service and to help cancel them. The installer tech came as scheduled and replaced the alarm system. My wife likes the new style screen and the "whistle "door unit.

Closed proprietary system, painful to expand, and a cancellation process built to wear you down
The one genuine positive: the initial installation was quick and easy. That is also the only easy thing about owning this system.
Everything after that fights you. Vivint is a closed, proprietary platform. If you have any interest in home automation, understand that integrating Vivint with anything else is effectively impossible — you can't bring your own equipment in, and their equipment doesn't work anywhere else. You are locked into their hardware, at their prices, for as long as you're a customer, and nothing you already own will talk to it.
Adding devices yourself is genuinely painful. Try to install a lock and the system demands a PIN that only Vivint can issue, so every single addition means another phone call to them. Things that take five minutes on an open platform turn into a support ticket here. On top of that, the door locks have had ongoing connectivity problems.
The other big problem is the contract. It runs five years, which ties you to them very tightly. And when you try to cancel, you find out just how tight that grip is.
Here's what my cancellation attempt looked like. I contacted a chat agent, who moved me to a "specialist." That specialist asked me a long series of questions, only to tell me at the very end that cancellation can only be done over the phone. That turned out not even to be true: I later found out from Vivint's own contract that you can cancel by written letter — something the chat agent could have simply told me. They didn't. On the phone, I was passed between multiple agents who asked me the same questions over and over, then left me hanging on hold — it honestly feels intentional. They kept asking why I wanted to cancel even after I had explained it repeatedly. The entire process seems designed to make cancelling as difficult as possible. In this day and age, you should be able to simply cancel online with a few clicks — not be forced through a tedious, drawn-out phone process.
And it gets worse. I'm not even trying to break the contract early — I'm willing to sit out the full term and simply not renew. But Vivint told me I can't give notice in advance. I have to call on the exact day my contract ends. So the burden is entirely on you to remember one specific date, go through their phone maze again, and hope they actually process it — otherwise you roll on. There is no reasonable explanation for refusing advance notice other than hoping customers forget.
When I gave notice well ahead of time anyway, I was told that doing so counts as cancelling early and that I would owe an early termination fee — even though I'm paying every month through the end of the term and the service would end on exactly the same day either way. I was also told, before I had sent anything, that a written cancellation letter would get the same answer. The agent declined to put any of it in writing.
Then came the part every prospective customer should know. I asked whether calling on my contract end date means I'm finished. I was told there is a 30-day notice period and that I would receive one more prorated bill for the final month of service. So even if you do exactly what they instruct you to do, you still pay past the end of your contract. A 60-month agreement is in practice a 61-month agreement, and nobody mentions that when you sign.
On top of all this, you can get better cameras for far less than what Vivint charges. I will never sign up with them again, and I'd encourage anyone considering them to think carefully about what a five-year commitment to this company means — especially about how it ends.

Excellent service rendered.
The technician called me an hour before the appointment to let me know he was on his way. I also noticed that he placed shoe booties on his boots before coming into my house.

I will never be a Vivint customer again.
My experience with Vivint has been extremely disappointing due to recurring technical failures and poor customer support. The equipment, particularly the cameras and doorbell camera, are unreliable; I frequently experience persistent buffering that prevents me from viewing events in real time. Furthermore, the two-way audio feature on the doorbell is consistently non-functional, rendering it ineffective for communication.
When attempting to resolve these issues, the customer service process is deeply frustrating. I have encountered significant language barriers and lengthy wait times, often spending over an hour on the phone without reaching a resolution. Additionally, I caution others that purchasing new equipment often triggers an automatic, non-consensual renewal of your original contract, which is then enforced with an exorbitant early termination fee of approximately $1,000. I would advise potential customers to exercise extreme caution before committing to this service. YOU MAY REGRET IT. They are not an honest company and will take your money for a service that does not work consistently.
The salesman lied when he came to our door, I have a do not solicit sign as plain as day on my front door and the salesman said I’m not selling bug spray and I just wanna give you free camera equipment from Vivint and just pay for the monitoring service so I let him in turns out he fast talk me into signing a contract that not only charges five times the amount of your equipment but also the service fee and it’s been a nightmare, trying to cancel it
