What reviewers say

AI generated

Most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Consumers often find the staff helpful, with many finding the process straightforward and the templates inspiring, making their entire event coordination much easier. Reviewers appreciate that the platform is easy to use in terms of navigation and offers numerous customization options to make the website visually appealing. However, some customers noted potential issues where the website felt clunky or slow at times, and the layout could seem overwhelming or unintuitive for a few people. A small portion of people were dissatisfied with specifics like RSVP tracking not being ideal or errors appearing, such as landing pages sometimes not displaying uploaded photos correctly. Furthermore, caution is advised regarding booking accommodations, as some consumers reported booking issues where intended reservations were not honored.

What people say

Very disappointing from a guest perspective

Very disappointing from a guest perspective. Whole thing is awkward to use - and everything costs money - which you would rather go to the bride & groom. B&G ask for money gifts through the service and you pay them commission. Just share your bank details instead1 NEVER book a hotel room through their service - we stupidly did, and I was very cross with myslef. They showed a price on the screen that was less than booking direct - and when I paid it was significantly higher. When I went back and looked, under the big price was a tiny much higher cost ‘including VAT and our service charge’. I complained about it - a lot - but couldn’t get my money back to book direct. I think it is mid-selling and potentially fraudulent but who has time to fight these things!! Anyway - if attending a wedding arranged through it - do your best to avoid giving them any money as they have very dubious business practices.

Exceptional user experience

Exceptional user experience. Very grateful for the ease to build it and the formatting and layout options available. We also used the option to have our guests send money via the app which some took advantage of but most chose Venmo or Zelle to avoid the cc processing fee. The only thing outside of Joy that we used was SignUp Genius since we’re doing a four day, “do it ourselves (DIO)” wedding weekend. Would have been great to have it all in one or be able to embed more easily.

Would not use if I had a do-over

If I had a do-over, I’d just use Typeform and an e-card platform. Having built my own website on a different platform, I only wanted to use the Joy rsvp feature. However, getting the settings right so that everything else was turned off while people could still access the rsvp, was super difficult. And even with all the settings correct and hotel settings turned off, people still got pushed hotel advertising after filling in the rsvp. I would rather pay two other sites to get the card animation and rsvp with no ads. The ads feel cheap and nasty, and incredibly unprofessional. Edited for clarity on 1/8/26. Also, to add that this was marked as an 'unprompted review', but I posted the review in response to an email that was sent to me asking for a review.

Terrible Communication & Refund Process

I believe this is my first negative review, but after more than a month of trying to get a refund, I feel obligated to share my experience. On 6/16, I ordered about $195 worth of gifts for a bride and groom. I received an order confirmation, but never received a shipping update or any other communication. On 7/3, I reached out for an update and was told "some" items had been delivered and the rest would arrive in 3–5 days. That wasn't true. By 7/18, the couple had received only one $30 item. That's when I requested a refund. Only then was I told one item had been lost in transit and two others were out of stock—something no one had communicated before, even though they were in stock when I placed the order. I repeatedly requested a refund, not store credit. On 7/19, I was told a refund was being processed. By 7/26, nothing. On 7/28, I was told I'd receive $135.57 back. When I asked for a breakdown of that amount, I was told today that my refund would actually be $30. The lack of communication, constantly changing information, and month-long effort just to get a straightforward refund has been incredibly frustrating. I can't recommend purchasing through WithJoy based on this experience.

Good platform for people without web skills

Good platform. A lot of glitch and features missing but work pretty ok as RSVP, Email and Text. Make sure your guests put a +1 before their phone number or you will have to go throughs 300 contacts to change it manually.

If I ever get married again I would never used Joy again...

I chose Joy for my wedding planning mainly because of the aesthetics of the website templates. But everything after that is a nightmare. The registry was the biggest pain. We would have guests purchase gifts from Joy and after a while Joy would let us know that the gifts are out of stock. This happened to 50% of our registry. And what's worse is they only refund you with Joy credits. We can't even cash it out to purchase the gift somewhere else. We ended up using all the credits to get something else from Joy. When guests asked us about how was the item they sent us it was total embarrassment and awkwardness. We also received gifts purchased from Joy being broken. TWICE. And the entire exchange the return process is just a waste of time. This totally ruined out wedding registry and just such an unpleasant memory to be part of my wedding.

Misleading Email Communications After Creating a Non-Wedding Event

Great app for birthdays and events, but the follow-up emails are frustrating! I used this to plan a birthday party, yet I keep receiving emails from Joy referencing "your wedding event." If you support non-wedding events, please make sure your automated emails reflect that. A small fix that would make a big difference!

Not user friendly for family & friends

The WithJoy site is truly beautiful and easy to navigate. I personally did not have an exceptional experience. My gift did not arrive in time (which is fine, my fault for ordering late), so I made every attempt to return. BEWARE the website says you receive an order number via email after 4 business days of purchasing, and the order number is required for cancelling. I waited received no number, and was ultimately told I could not cancel the order because the order was already shipped. Okay. I was told I now must wait for the order to be delivered and then initiate a return. After several more days of waiting, I received the gift and requested a return via the online chatting agents. I was asked about 16 times whether I was absolutely sure if I would like to return the gift. YES as if my initial request did not clearly indicate it. Then, as a last ditch attempt at making me rethink my decision, the agent stated that she contacted the bride (my sister) and was told they are “looking for the gift and thought it was lost.” I know for a fact my sister received the gift because I ordered an identical version from a different store, but after getting in touch with my sister to confirm, she was baffled, stating she was never contacted. I’m just astonished, as contacting a bride with false accusations and igniting confusion ahead of a special day is just absurd and poor customer service. It’s also embarrassing, you show the gift’s receiver the price of the gift and the immense struggles you are facing in handling this order. Luckily, it was my sister and I’m familiar with her, but I would hate for others to experience this with a more distant relative or friend. For how expensive wedding gifts are, the process for returning and refunding should be more user-friendly and not “seamless and guaranteed” as their website promises. Overall, the site was cute and easy for purchasing, but not user friendly in the slightest. There is also no phone number contact, making any questions or concerns incredibly difficult to address. It’s been 12 days and I still have no return label.

Hotel bookong scam

I have booked a hotel as a wedding guest and need to amend, I have had about 10 different people email back all incompetent, they cannot grasp thay I need to change from 3 days to 2. Once suggested it was done but then said no refund amount. Then the next person said confirmed it was 3 day booking. I cannot amend with the hotel directly as this site uses Expedia to book. It's a joke, for hotel bookings avoid!!!

Absolute disaster

This website has been a disaster at every turn. First, 30% of our guests never received the email invitation. The agent's advice was to resend the invitation to everyone. Second, while we were in the midst of drafting additional event descriptions, the website sent out "reminder" emails to all guests with the draft information without our knowledge or consent. Third, when sending invitations to additional wedding events, we did it with a live agent to make sure the original wedding invitation would not be overridden, but it was overridden anyway. That means we can now only see who is RSVPed to the welcome dinner but not the wedding itself. The agent's advise is to get every guest to re-RSVP to the wedding. There are a multitude of other features that I wont even get into: for example, the website will still send out event reminders and updates to all guests, even the ones who RSVP no. I wish we had not chosen this site as its been an absolute nightmare. Go with a paid website like the knot or zola because you truly get what you pay for.

Not sure I’ll be sticking with it

Not sure I’ll be sticking with it. Limited design options. And limited capacity for a multilingual event.
