The prices are high even though for a…

The prices are high even though for a repeated abd regular customer like me I suspect agoda doesn't work with Best discounts for regular customers now there is no.cash backs also Another issue is no hotels recognize agoda they only recognize booking.com So proving the booking itself a big task My most recent booking with Cocoon hotel in Pune has got issue as I had to explain many things even after sharing booking voucher (cocoon hotel have one idiotic and rude person in reception name " Atul" ) such idiots doesn't always care for Agoda customers

I got charged extra but they refunded me

Not the best platform. The booking was easy but I had some problems with wrong payment details. I had to contact the support afterwards to get a refund. They advertised a wrong price. Their website showed a price of 116 including all taxes. This included the city tax according to the website. But when I reached the property, they said the Agoda has not paid the city tax and I had to pay it in person again. I then contacted support who after a long conversation, agreed to refund me. Waiting on the refund now.

If there's any discrepancy, do NOT give out your money

update: after 2 months going back and forth with customer service, they finally reimbursed it. Good that they did, bad that there was so much delay. host charged 208 instead of the 180 shown on my confirmation, a difference of 28 dollars. After 3 months of attempting to get in contact for the reimbursement that was promised by the customer support, I have yet to receive any payment

Agoda cancelled my confirmed New Year booking in Dubai without offering proper support.

Agoda cancelled my confirmed New Year booking in Dubai without offering proper support at first. Customer service initially responded with generic replies, ignoring my specific concerns. However, the issue was eventually resolved, and I appreciate Agoda’s quick response time. In the future, I would kindly ask for more personalised and thoughtful communication.

Go to the hotel FIRST

Go to the hotel first! If u can, check that the room Agoda is advertising is actually available. I stayed in Seminyak and you have to understand, in Bali the communication between Agoda and the hotels isn't great. It's not anyone's fault it's just the nature of the beast. What that means for you, is that it's a total roll of the dice if u get the right room. In my situation I got lucky because the hotel staff actually gave me a free upgrade. But I really had to push for it. At least there is some communication between Agoda and the hotel.

Good booking platform, but poor customer service and strict non-refundable policy

I recently made a booking with Agoda for the Travelodge Valencia Aeropuerto. The booking process itself was smooth, and I was initially happy with the platform. However, I encountered a significant issue when I needed to cancel my reservation due to a change in my travel plans. First, the customer service experience was very frustrating. I struggled for a long time trying to reach an actual agent instead of interacting with the automated bot, which made the process unnecessarily difficult and time-consuming. Once I finally got through, I explained that my intention was to rebook at the same hotel for different dates. Unfortunately, my request for any form of goodwill gesture (such as a voucher or discount) was denied due to their strict policy. Despite explaining that I am an AgodaVIP Platinum member and would continue to book through Agoda in the future, I was informed that there was no possibility for any flexibility due to their system restrictions and the non-refundable nature of the booking. While I understand the need for non-refundable policies, I believe that Agoda should consider showing more flexibility, especially for loyal customers who want to continue using their services. My overall experience left me feeling frustrated, especially considering that I was willing to continue booking through their platform. Due to this experience, I do not plan to use Agoda in the future. The lack of flexibility and the difficulty in reaching a real person made this experience far from satisfactory, and I will be more cautious when choosing a booking platform in the future. Hopefully, this review will help future customers of agoda.com be aware of the potential challenges when booking non-refundable reservations with Agoda."

They can not be contacted (easily)! (here is a hint!)

We did not receive a confirmation. I thought: perhaps I made a mistake in my email address. Let's contact them. There is no way to contact them on the website. There is a chatbot, but you need the information in the confirmation mail to get this working. The website say in many places that they are very easy to contact, and that their system is even better than calling..... I send them a mail via customerservice in the address Then I received an automatic reply, saying that the mailbox is not maintained. :-( Then I tried their facebook page. Almost the same initial response: we are not available. Miracle: I received an email with a phone number! Dial plus one for the USA, then 9292704046. At the same time, the chat on Facebook responded, saying that they could see in their reservation system that a person of their team received my mail (!) and will be working on it. So I called them (option 5 for other subjects) and the lady on the phone very kindly and very professionally helped me!

Easy to book, hotel ratings questionable 🤨

I booked two different hotels with Agoda for a trip to Thailand. The one hotel, in Patong was beautiful. The hotel in Phi Phi Don was very dirty, smelly and unpleasant. I cannot believe the reviews online were real. They didn’t match my experience of this hotel. Booking process was easy, the app is very useful. I would be dubious of their hotel ratings in future though.

Cashback reward not honoured

Their cashback reward offer appears ot be just a bait to solicit bookings. When it was time to request the cashback reward, I received q dead link on 2 occasions. My repeated inquiries through what they call "customer service" remain unanswered. Meanwhile it went on. They blamed it on a technical issue and offered the two corresponding amounts as AgodaCash. I accepted the offer and received two e-mails stating that these amounts were credited as AgodaCash. However, my AgodaCash is still at $00. It was finally settled, but it took a long time and a lot of correspondence.

No booking recorded when we arrived!

When we arrived at our hotel the hotel had no record of our booking. Luckily I had the confirmation and they had a spare room for us. This had a knock on effect with breakfast as this wasn’t recorded either. Thankfully the hotel staff were happy to ring and work this out whilst we left luggage and continued with our weekend. I am concerned about my other booking I have as I can see many other people have had this experience.

False before prices. -Platinum member

[Edit: Things have gotten better at Agoda. Alot? Some. I will add one extra star to my review] As a Platinum member, I have to say: always check other places before booking with Agoda. I must admit they’re often cheaper than the biggest companies, but Google Travel almost always helps me save more than Agoda. The before price at Agoda is a huge scam. Sorry Agoda, but this is false info. I’ve never had any issues with my bookings. However, if you need to reach customer service, you might as well cancel the entire trip. Book wisely.

Dont book reddoorz or Oyo via agoda.

My advice is to book only hotels at agoda if they are directly provided by agoda . If you see other labels like reddoorz or oyo you dont always get the hotel room at arrival . Or you can be transferred to another cheaper hotel. In both cases you are not notified before . those cheap other organisations dont help you. I had problems to complain online to agoda with their chatbox and old email adres did not work . But pissed of consumers website has correct adresses . Now after 1 week most of my future problems are solved by agoda . But i had 5 days in a verry bad hotel provided by reddoorz and being angry to that situation ruined my holiday . For other part , agoda has often the best offer. They belong to same organisation as booking.com and priceline and kayak but each can have sometimes also sharper rates. So stay surfing.

I am a traveler

I am a traveler. I have tried 'Booking', 'Hotwire', 'Kayak', 'Expedia' and 'Agoda' . Trust me, they have ALL gone down hill. Booking and Hotwire have completely lost the plot and I have now dumped them without remorse. Expedia is for the Tesla crowd and their deep pockets. Agoda is still for the working stiff, but they are slipping. On a recent stay in Thailand, they advertised a hotel at 387 baht, but refused to allow an online pay. I get to the hotel and they are asking 600 baht. Now, let's talk here. That's only about 18 USD. No complaints. But, where the complaint is, Agoda doesn't have a filter function that allows for the customer to filter out hotels who do not accept credit card payments. If you are an entrepreneur, you do accounting with your credit card purchases. This is essential for taxation. Agoda, please add this feature and stop with the bait and switch while you're at it.

Non honest currency conversion policy

Prices and different options are good, though they change if you access from different ways. For instance, ig you access from Tripadvisor they are slightly cheaper. I consider though that is not acceptable the currency policy. The 5% extra charge should be clearly stated when booking and paying. It is not just enough to show it in the fine print somewhere else. It is a nasty surprise when you get the final charge. It is very misleading and tricky because the way it is defined and carried out. At the end of the day you pay in the currency of your bank, no matter the currency shown and selected.
