Buyer beware
I have had the software for a year and while I didn't experience any issues with the program itself I did have a big issue with customer service. When my alleged auto renewal came to me I indicated I did not want to renew the subscription however they say differently. So before the actual renewal date I sent an email to support indicating I did not want to renew. They first offered a discount of about $20 to renew which I declined and asked that my cancellation be processed. They did everything they could to stop this process including telling me the address associated with my credit card was incorrect. They asked for insignificant irrelevant information to prove my association to the credit card as if some random person was going to ask for a $95 refund tied to MY credit card. As such I was forced to do a bank dispute that is currently pending. Be very careful with this company and make sure you do not check the auto renewal button as getting a refund is a process they make very difficult. The reply by the company is even later than I thought it could be. So the mailbox that monitors renewals is not monitored. That sounds like a professional company I should trust my data with? With regard to the refund process your agent kept insisting the address on the credit card was not matching the address I gave. That is categorically untrue. The questions asked were irrelevant and nonsense. Like I am some random person asking to refund MY credit card. Wow

We understand that account verification requests can feel cumbersome, however these steps are required to protect customer data. Because a refund request results in the associated Carbonite backup being removed from our servers, we must verify that we are working with the account owner or an authorized individual before making changes to the account. Additionally, if the cancellation request was sent by replying directly to a renewal notification email, that mailbox is not monitored for support requests and generates an automated reply with instructions on how to contact Support. Carbonite is Great!
Carbonite works great! I can quickly and easily retrieve a file accidentally deleted, which has happened a few times this year. A few years ago when my computer crashed, Carbonite saved the day with a full restore - the representative was really helpful.

Very long-time user
I have used Carbonite for over 20 years now. It is an invaluable resource when transferring to a new or updated computer which happens more often than we would like. I have had two computers get destroyed and have had several upgrade replacements in the last 20 years. It has also proven itself a critical resource when you accidentally delete a file or portions of a file. The ability to recover previous versions of documents can be a life saver when this happens. It is comforting to know that your files are protected (with the visual icons). I have done research on other backup services and consider the icon identification an important asset. When you have a large volume to protect (as I do) it is very useful to be able to unprotect folders and groups to manage your archive space.

Don't Play With Fire!
I believe in keeping backups - both in-house and online - because stuff happens. I can't count the number of times I've gone into my Carbonite account to restore a file I accidentally overwrote. Anyone who isn't keeping data backed up remotely is playing with fire, literally and figuratively.

Excellent backup and recovery software
The software works as advertised, and at a reasonable price for protecting your computer and files. I was subscribed for several years and then finally had a software event that ultimately required recovery. Carbonite worked perfectly to restore my files. It’s like an insurance policy…you pay and pay and then the day finally comes when you need it. It was a lifesaver.

I have used Carbonite for years but…
I have used Carbonite for years but except for 1 computer upgrade I have not needed Carbonite. S, why is it worthwhile? I have had comfort knowing it was backing up my data and I knew my data was safe. Small price to pay for a critical app that removes years of otherwise angst.

Never in the Dark
Carbonite keeps me informed of the status of my backups on both of my computers, and informs me if any are out of date. Also, the customer service is great....when you call, you actually get a person on the other end of the line and they guide your right through it. Could not be happier and will never let Carbonite out of my computing life.
