Thankfully I have never had to retrieve…
Thankfully I have never had to retrieve files from Carbonite, but it gives me great relief that I can. Carbonite takes care of the process and I don't have to worry about doing it myself, or forgetting to backup. One thing that is slightly inconvenient: I download videos from YouTube and Carbonite backs them up immediately so I can't manipulate the video file until Carbonite is done backing it up. When I remember to, I pause Carbonite before I download the videos and there is no problem, I just restart the backup of files.

Review of Carbonite Safe Basic Product…
Ever since I have Had Carbonite to back up by photo and other files on my PC, beginning about 3-4yrs. ago I have not had any problems. I am informed frequently how many files I have uploaded. It is reassuring that if something that happened to my PC, I have my files which are very important to me, backed up. The price has gone up since I first purchased at about $6.00 per year to ~8.00 a year which is pretty reasonable to have the peace of mind Carbonite provides with their product, Safe Basic.

The backup is automatic
The backup is automatic, no extra effort nor anything to remember to do on my part. It runs in the background and doesn't bog down my computer. When I needed to restore data, it was available.

It's a great backup system!
I can back as much as I want! The backup is automatic daily and I can trigger it, too. I can restore previous file versions and deleted files! It's a great system.

I want it as "insurance"
I want it as "insurance", just in case my computer goes down. But, it's expensive, and very difficult to find just a file or two if you accidentally delete them.

It does what it is supposed to do and does in the background. In addition, using an app, i can access my files on home computer from my iPad.

Always backed up automatically unless I decide not to have a file saved. Fairly simple to download a single file, a group of files or all my files.

The few times I have computer problems…Always there
The few times I have computer problems and had to rely on my Carbonite backup, it was there! Sometime I found the download directions confusing, but everything was there.

frustrated
Carbonite worked great with my first computer, but after it had problems and I purchased a 2nd computer, Carbonite failed to backup this 2nd computer (the one I always use now). I know this because Carbonite sent me emails, informing me that this 2nd computer (Gaia2) was not getting backed up. I appreciate knowing this, but how can the problem be fixed? Carbonite provided some suggestions that appear time-consuming, and I am hoping to find time soon. Until this is done, Carbonite provides no value to me.

I love Carbonite
I wouldn't want to be without Carbonite. I have used it to transfer files each time I get a new computer. When the old computer quits working, Carbonite is the only way I know to save precious information.
