Booked a cabin and less than 15 mins later cancelled because I realized I book the wrong cabin. Hipcamp charged an 8% fee. No exceptions. Feels unreasonable to not at least an hour -24 hour grace period. Will never book here and will make it my mission to tell everyone I know.

Hi Jenny,
Thanks for sharing your experience with us and with the broader Hipcamp community. We appreciate hearing from you!
The Hipcamp service fee is applied to all bookings and is proportional to the cost of booking. It is non-refundable in the case of cancelations, barring extenuating circumstances. It ranges between 9% and 18%, with higher booking totals having lower service fees. There is a minimum $3 service fee per booking.
As a gesture of goodwill, our team are happy to apply the Hipcamp Service Fee for your booking to your account as a Hipcash credit. Just reach out to our team via https://hipca.mp/support and request your booking be reviewed by Ellyn (that's me!), and we'll have that sorted for you ASAP.
We stayed at the the Cabin with hottub in St.Briavells in the wye valley. It was a beautiful setting and with 2 very welcoming hosts. The setting was peaceful and extremely comfortable. A wonderful Anniversary weekend away. I highly recommend the cabin. Plenty of lovely walks along the Offas Dyke path and some nice pubs. Also Tintern Abby well worth a visit.
I love you Hipcamp 💜❤️❌😍

I found it difficult to navigate.
New search dates & areas would regularly revert to old searches. This happened multiple times even after restarting the app.
The filters can be difficult to navigate too.
I misspelled my name initially and am not able to find a way to change the spelling.
It just isn’t a particularly easy to use app.

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to share this feedback with us and with the broader Hipcamp community. We really appreciate hearing from you!
We'd love if you could get in touch with our Support team via https://hipca.mp/support with screenshots of the issues you've been experiencing when searching on the app. This will allow our team to escalate this to the Engineers for assessment and troubleshooting.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
We've had 2 Hipcamps cancelled on us by the site owners before we've arrived. Hipcamp is a good tool, but the owners of the RV site location can and will cancel your reservation if it no longer is convenient for them and it creates a HUGE problem if you're on a long trip and there are no other options available.

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to share this feedback with us. We're so sorry to hear that you've had these experiences!
We encourage Hosts to Host all confirmed bookings, and to avoid cancellations unless there are extenuating circumstances. Guests who have been cancelled on are encouraged to contact Hipcamp Support via https://hipca.mp/support for assistance - we're always happy to help you get rebooked into alternative accommodation, and will reach out to the Host to learn more about the cancellation and what steps we can take to avoid further cancellations in the future.
Arrived at the property and it was dirty, smelly (dead Christmas tree in corner of living room) I politely told the host we were unprepared for a stay here (my allergies can’t handle the must and mould) and requested a refund. She told us to leave property immediately even though we had booked three nights at over $400. We did as she asked but she has denied any refund at all and hipcamp has done nothing other than offer $82 to use on our next hipcamp trip. Why would we use hipcamp again??? No accountability and camper is the one that pays- will never use again nor recommend to anyone.
Edited to add- Hipcamp really stepped up and resolved my complaint. It took a bit of persistence on my part but I knew the way I had been treated was wrong…and they have agreed. Thank you

Hi Allison,
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. I'm so sorry to hear this!
Please respond to your Support ticket with a request that the situation be escalated to Ellyn (that's me!) for review. Looking forward to being able to help resolve this for you!
Our second stay here and we were not disappointed. Terrific views and walks and lots of space. A great site and one we will use again and again. The owners just seem to go the extra mile for their customers and it was great to chat with Lucie first thing in the morning (with our breakfast order!)
Strongly recommend if you want a friendly no frills campsite.
Reviews reviews reviews…most important. And if you love a place that’s not available, email the owner, you just never know what might be available. Be really nice and personable like most of the hosts. We fell into this app and it has literally made our monthlong summer road-trip. Without it, it’s pretty much the masses…
location not accurate until you book
phone number not available until you book - can't reach host
email is NOT efficient way to make a booking
have to spend $$ to get info
booked 2 nites by accident - by the time I had reception and heard from host VIA EMAIL, I had to book first night elsewhere and didn't notice. Changed it to 1 within MINUTES but hipcamp won't refund.
Only way to reach hipcamp is via email, another delay and fail
also got really sick and could not use second night
good idea but lot of issues, I'm out $230 right now
update:
Now out only $100 but also huge stress and lots of time. How exactly am I supposed to 'escalate to Ellyn'?? added a new ticket with this, we'll see

Hi Cayenne,
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us and with the broader Hipcamp community. We appreciate your feedback!
For context: exact, pinpoint address/location details and Host phone numbers are not available until a confirmed booking is in place; this is for privacy and security reasons. Once a booking has been confirmed, you are provided with the Host's phone number and the exact location of their property, along with a link to Google/Apple Maps navigation. If you have questions for your Host prior to booking, we ask that you use the "Contact Host" function/Hipcamp Messages.
For assistance with your recent booking, please reach out to Hipcamp Support with your booking number and ask that your Support request be escalated to Ellyn (that's me!) for assessment and refund options. Looking forward to hearing from you!
It was a great camping experience.
A lovely view - the sea at the right side, open fields in the left.
It is just like on the website. There are toilets and showers, a wassing area and that's it. So you know what you're coming for - the rest.
We had bad weather and maybe it would be good to have just a little space where you can be apart foe the rain for a long time.
Otherwise very lovely and nice people who are coming around every day.
They have very nice meat that you can order.
It was worth the visit!
I became a host on June 1 and we
had our first guests on the 2nd. The hip camp program and people have been very supportive. I love being a host through hipcamp.

Hi Nancy,
Thanks for your kind words! We're so pleased to hear you're enjoying your Hosting experience. Here's to many more successful bookings in the future!
True! Cheep but there's nothing there for kids to do, no shade, no actvities or plsygrounds... literally a field surrounded by fence. We ended up not stayind at all and re booked something15 min away .

Hi Laura,
Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us and with the broader Hipcamp community. We're sorry to hear that this experience didn't meet your expectations!
Hi Laura,
In order to leave a review on the property you booked at, please click one of the buttons on the original email we sent you:
Yes I would
Hmm... maybe
No, I don’t think so
You can also click through from the text we sent you or from the on-site banner when you are logged in to hipcamp.com.
This will bring you to the window on the Hipcamp website where you can leave both a public and a private review. If you'd like your experience to be sent to a Hipcamp Support team member for review, you can also opt to flag your review. This will enable our team to identify the property you're referring to, and work with the Host to improve the accuracy of their listing.
I hope this helps!
Hi Shelley,

I can see that our team have been in contact with you since your initial Support request, and that you requested a call yesterday from the agent handling your Support request. Unfortunately, the agent handling your Support request had finished their shift when this request came in. I can assure you that they will hop on a call with you as soon as they are back in the office. We look forward to assisting further with this situation, and ask that you understand that individual agents cannot be logged into work to respond to call requests 24/7 - they're only human, after all!
