What people say

My experience started extremely…

My experience started extremely pleasant three days ago with a kind operator by the name of Kim. She empathized with my situation and tried to get me the best price possible as my nephew who I am guardian of is in need of an emergency flight out of state to visit his dying father. When she was unable to apply any more discounts she had the wherewithal to transfer me to her manager by the name of Leori. In tears because living on a fixed income the price was 300 more than the last company I had called, this manager politely told me to be quiet and listen in the middle of our conversation. He was over the top pushing and extremely disrespectful to a woman in distress. Clearly I hung up and called the other company back and was able to book the flight with them however it was only $200 cheaper because of my delay the rate had gone up slightly. They had charged my card on Friday and on Monday morning I received a call again from Kim who informed me that if I wanted to cancel they would refund me fully as a one-time courtesy. This was a non-refundable purchase and they certainly did not have to do so. I found their generosity moving considering all that we are going through at this time. Kim transferred me to the cancellation desk where I encountered Luke. Again, pleasant, professional, and knowledgeable as he quickly got my card refunded. I would give both operators. Kim and Luke five stars. However, this company needs to evaluate their management and how they deal with people. The way Leori addressed me was not only disrespectful but very unprofessional. He wanted to argue me into buying the ticket with him. He was unable to give me any more discounts than Kim had and kept me on the phone longer than necessary only to tell me he could not help me anymore than the wonderful Kim did. I would give this company five stars for Kim and Luke but due to their manager Leori I dropped it to a four. No one should be treated as if they are less than someone else. I understand other cultures have other beliefs, but when you're dealing with someone else's culture that believes women are equal to men, you should probably approach the situation as such. This man has no idea what American women have gone through and how hard we fought to be treated fair and equal to the men we walk side by side with and lift up in our everyday lives. Yes, I was extremely offended. By the way he treated me as a woman and I felt like I stepped back into time. If we are going to outsource our work to other countries, we should probably make sure they understand this country's culture and beliefs.

Once you booked your flight

Once you booked your flight, agent will call you and explained you about restrictions and force you to pay addiotnally, in the form of luggage or upgrade and keep telling you that the tickets are not guaranteed and it is a promotion ticket, they are a scammer, all the airlines need to block them

SCAMMERS

Firstly please have a look at the 5 stars reviews. They all somehow have the name of the adviser in them...obviously these are fake reviews!!! Skytrend is a scam! They advertise cheap flights so you will buy them and then they will call you, 4 to 5 times a day in my case, to upgrade your flight as they call what you have bought a stand by ticket or out of cabin ticket! Scammers through and through! This should be completely illegal! I cancelled my credit card all together so they will never be able to get a payment out of me!

SCAM!!!

SCAM!!! Do not EVER book with Skytrend. They refused to give me the Air Canada ref number. They said I had to pay an additional $1,500 so that I could bring luggage! What? After a bit of research, airlines do not offer special prices if you don’t bring a luggage. They are using luggage to scam people! As the payment had not gone through yet, I called AMEX and cancelled my card. 5hrs later: I booked another flight with a bogus credit card. I received a confirmation of my flight. This tells me they do not bill your credit card right away so you have time to cancel your card and keep your money. Nov 10: 1. Skytrend is not registered in the BBB. 2. Skytrend has not been vetted by IATA (I sent IATA an email) and 3. I have sent an email to Tripsinsider.com to relay my story and have them removed from their suggested list.

I think it might actually be a scam

I think it might actually be a scam. I thought the phone call was weird, I've booked flights before but I never got a confirmation phone call before for a flight before at least not with the sites i use, this time i was looking for cheaper options and decided to try a different site i wasn't familiar with that has an option to compare prices, and it lead me to this one that had a very cheap option, I regret doing it. I got an email, then the call, and I was reading along as they spoke on the phone going over the policy with me. As soon as I heard from the person on the line say that I couldn't take anything with me, not even a backpack, alarm bells went off. Never in my life have I ever heard of a policy that forbids people from having bags or carry-ons on a plane(discount or not), and never have I heard of a policy that removes the option to pay extra to get a suitcase on the plane-these airlines will always take your money, even if overbooked for which they will apologize later and try to make it right-but will still take your money. Then when I looked back at the stuff I noted that the itinerary number was missing which is always together with the confirmation number, and when i re-read the bag policy it contradicts what they told me over the phone. Look, if you are looking here and wondering if you should risk it for a REALLY good price, I'd say skip this and stick to either the airlines themselves or a site you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you can trust, maybe see if you can book those routes yourself through the airlines. If you are looking here because you are worried that you got scammed: play it safe and lock the card as fast as you can, hopefully before the payment is processed, speak with your bank, lawyer or legal representative or someone adultier than you, and the airlines, to figure out a solution-do not wait, get this resolved.

bait and switch style of scamming

They pull a bait and switch style of scamming. Got contacted the next day to confirm I knew what restrictions were on my tickets. The fact that they need to do this is obvious they know how misleading they are. Standby tickets. No luggage allowed, not even for a fee, the airline can cancel and refund the tickets while we are at the airport. They offered to upgrade the tickets at a normal price which was 40% more than what I was going to pay before finding their offer. They did get very close to one of the trips after I called them out and I did upgrade that one but cancelled the other which they were reluctant on. My 2 trips were overseas for a large group of us. So no way I’d do standby and those other restrictions. Now also I am getting spammed by multiple scam emails that I wasn’t getting until I dealt with them.

Scammers

Beware! There are scam. The ticket they sell you are never issued instead they will say that tickets sold out and ask you to buy a higher tier ticket for more $$$. If you don’t want the upgraded tier then will keep the the amount you already paid as hostage. And for force to either upgrade or forgo want you paid for

Too much Stress

So I booked my tickets on October 18th to travel on the 23rd. I got a call a couple hours later from skytrend agent. He starts confirming all the details and when he reached to the policy section he said that I am not allowed any luggage at all on the plane, but he said that let me put u on hold and check with AC a few minutes later he comes back saying O they are willing to change your seats for a cost of $600 and I have 3 seats.....this way I will be able to bring 1 personal baggage and will be guaranteed a seat. When I refused because I am working with a budget he stated that you will not be able to board the plane on the 23rd the day I booked for. Air Canada will move me to another flight......He said that AC will not let me and the kids board on the other flight also unless I pay the difference. This is the 1st time in my travel history something this unprofessional came up. It was really bad customer service! I refused to give any extra money. The guy would not let me finish the call very stressful and inconvenient. I 100% felt that the agent made AIR Canada look like a horrible airline. I will be reporting this experience to the proper department and authorities as I don't understand what was the need for the threat and all the stress. I don't even know if anything was truthful since I have never experienced such a challenge.
