I paid for protection on a cell phone 2…
I paid for protection on a cell phone 2 and a half years ago. I had an accident with my phone and had 3 years coverage on my phone with Allstate square trade, so I tried to make a claim after 2.5 years. They said I needed to upload a receipt before they would cover anything. I dont remember any obvious requests for a receipt when I purchased the plan. I managed to find the email I got from the Walmart.com purchase I made for the phone and service. Uploaded it only to have them tell me it was not sufficient. I have sent them every email I received from Walmart after purchasing the phone and plan. I have spent countless hours trying to make a claim. It truly feels like I am dealing with a scam artest when I deal with this department. It feels like It is designed to make people give up and not finish filling a claim. At one point I was offered a prorated refund of my origonal payment of $53 for the plan. My refund would have been three dollars and change.
I had this service a few years ago on an angle grinder for 2 years coverage. After 3 months the tool quit working. I contacted them trying to make a claim. They said the manufacturer had a 1 year warranty on the tool and they would not cover anything untill that one year factory warranty expired. Ok, so I contacted the manufacturer. They did not honer their warranty even with the receipt. I didn't even try to make a claim after the year went by. I had already purchased another tool. Im sure they occasionally pay out claims but good luck!

Did not honor computer warranty after…
Did not honor computer warranty after several calls, claims, and chats. Voided the warranty after refusing to fulfill claim. Computer had no accidental damage, only electrical issues from normal use/hardware failures. Was only able to speak to an agent after dealing with an AI call agent and demanding a human. Human agent failed to understand the situation and told me only that AllState would not honor the warranty. Do not trust them.

Hello Sean Smith,
We’re truly sorry for the frustration and inconvenience you’ve experienced during your recent claim.
SquareTrade offers two types of plans: Standard and Accidental. Our Standard plan covers mechanical and electrical malfunctions, while the Accidental plan includes accidental drops or liquid contact. In this case, the item was covered under our Standard Protection plan, which does not protect against physical damage. While SquareTrade does our best to assist all of our consumers, we can only approve claims within the specifications of the coverage purchased.
We’d really appreciate the chance to take a closer look at your case and see how we can better support you. If you’re willing, please reach out to us at [email protected] with “Trustpilot Review” in the subject line. Including details like your protection plan ID or contact information will help us locate your file quickly. One of our specialists will review your claim with care and follow up directly.
Thank you,
AB
