StewMac is blatantly and falsely advertising maple neck blanks as "AAA" quality when there is no figuring present. They are clearly relying on the fact that there is no official definition for each figuring grade but they know damn well that all accepted definitions is that AAA is nicely flamed. ..or at least some! When I called them out on this they gaslit me by saying that their "AAA" didn't say it was figured. Why call it "AAA" at all then? I can buy this quality of wood every day at my local lumber yard for a lot less. When I left a product review for the specific blanks on their site they refused to publish it, only saying "your review is under moderation." More like being censored. I don't know how long StewMac has been owned by this equity management firm but their service and quality has definitely been falling off. Two years ago this would've been a five star review. Equity firms always seems to ruin businesses when they get involved. All they worry about is profit margin.
Stew Mac tools are the best and worth the money. The staff is quick to help with an order or anything else you need. Orders get shipped very quick. Thanks to the entire staff at Stew Mac.
Stewmac is easy to order from and usually are delivered on time. When ever there was a problem with any item they take care of it quickly. The kits that I have ordered have all had very good materials. If you want to build a guitar from a kit this is your company.
62 Brit-Plex amp kit, comes with bad power transformer. You can not talk to someone, no phone only chat. Geoff has me reflowing all my solder joints telling me I have a bad solder somewhere. I finally ask if any parts could cause the problems that are happening, a couple weeks after asking he finally says acting like power transformer. Test here and if you don’t get reading it’s power transformer. Okay they don’t have any power transformers so he sends me to Mojotone to buy one and offers me a $100.00 refund to cover transformer. Well luckily the first transformer he tells me to get is out of stock, because it’s actually for an 18 watt amp. Okay finally get hopefully correct part # order one and it’s a $176.00 but they did give me a whopping $108.00 back to cover the cost of bad part they sold me.
The only reason I gave 1 star is because can’t do 0.
I will never make another purchase form StewMac. I would suggest that everyone make purchases through Mojotone, they actually know there stuff. StewMac is nothing but a joke from my experience with them. My StewMac purchase was through Reverb.

We're sorry your experience was not satisfactory. While we do offer phone support, typically our agents will rely on other forms of communication when assisting with amp troubleshooting in order to pass images back and forth to identify areas of concern or other items for illustration. Otherwise, in review of your interactions, our agent went through a troubleshooting process that should be expected by identifying the most likely cause for concern in these circuits and builds. This can unfortunately be a bit time consuming as all possible avenues for concern are identified and corrected so they are not possibly contributing to the overall issues present. While it did take a few rounds of review to narrow down the issue to the transformer, issues with these are rare and not typically quickly identified. Further, while we are happy to assist with replacement parts in the event of any issues, unfortunately an improper power up is likely to have caused the damage to the transformer. Our agent was happy to provide a portion of the cost for a replacement as a courtesy as this part is not currently available on our site.
Given the times that are, This organization gives me the most satisfaction at this point of my life. The prices are fair under the circumstances of the economic conditions (Canada/US trade upending, etc. Still it gives me confidence that through all of this, that this organization has lasting impacts on my interests and enthusiasms thru my Guitar and music in particular. Great experience with StewMac. Their tools are high quality, reliable, and very useful for guitar setup and repair work. The ordering process is smooth, products are well packaged, and the educational resources are very helpful. I would definitely recommend StewMac to other guitar enthusiasts and repair professionals.
I love the consistency in the products from stewmac and the high end options available! Their customer service is also super easy to work with whenever issues do arise (which hasn't been common in my experience)! Definitely my favorite luthier supply store.
