What people say

The best villa ever

The best villa ever. We have rented a very nice villa in Castellabate (Cilento), Communication with Summer in Italy was very god as well as all information shared including driving instructions.

Very friendly and professional service

I made a reservation at Villa Micia, a beautiful holiday home, in Massa Lubrense. Luca helped me through the process and he was extremelly friendly and professional.

Very attentive and great interest in…

Very attentive and great interest in particular detail. They kept us up to date on any additional charges and the process of acceptance and confirmation. I would highly recommend them to other travelers.

Not the best experience…

I have made a reservation through AirBnB for a place in Amalfi, I had a team event there and the location found was matching exactly our criteria. Booking went well, I got the confirmation messages and 1 hour later I reveive an email saying that the place was tripple booked and they would offer me some other villa in return. I appreciated the offer to fix things however none of the 2 options provided matched in any way the needs that I have, not was I asked to share more in details on the needs and to feel supported in identifying a good solution. This overall experience has been very disruptive. On top of it, hours later I receive what is probably an automatic email congratulating me for my initial choise and saying that they look fwd to welcoming us. It is a bit sad and ironic given the above mentioned circumstances

Hi Ina! Thank you so much for sharing your feedback. I have to say that I am very sorry about the issue we had with your reservation but, at the same time, I am pleased to see that the safety measures that we employ to make sure an inconvenience does not turn into a tragedy have worked. "What has worked?" you may be wondering... as you mentioned, we got back to you --> one hour later <-- to report that the property had been triple booked (triple!), with an offer for an alternative (more on that later). Such a very unusual event may happen when technology fails. Availability calendars are synced via the Internet around the globe, and, as anyone might have experienced, connections from time to time do fail. When bookings are taken through many different platforms, this might become a problem since holiday homes, unlike hotel rooms, are not "one of many", but individual properties with unique amenities. That is why at our company we double-check each and every reservation with a live human being whose job is to catch a failure as soon as possible. Can you imagine if the issue with the calendar had been discovered days later, or, even worse, at check-in? That's what we call a tragedy. This is not to say that we are happy with the way things went... it's just to let you know that we tried our best to handle an issue where a calendar update repeatedly failed while three travelers were trying to book the same house for overlapping dates through different platforms at the same time. As for the alternatives offered, we selected the two available properties that most closely matched the style and amenities of the property you had originally booked, based on our knowledge of the properties we represent. Our job is exactly one of helping travelers to choose the right place for their Italian holiday, which is a concept that might sound alien to travelers used to "self-service" platforms where you have to pick and book on your own. The staff felt that it would have been "as usual" to receive feedback on the initial selection to go deep into details, so they didn't think they should explicitly mention that you were welcome to provide any input to take advantage of what for us is exactly the service we provide. Sorry about that, this will teach us not to give it for granted and be proactive about it. The automated email were triggered as the normal course of action for a reservation. The "safety net" that caught your booking is rarely used, to be honest, and so our technicians didn't feel that they needed to wait for the reservation to clear before the onboarding procedure would get started. Your kind feedback will help us to improve on that front, too. So, dear Ina, please accept our apologies for this glitch. It was a very unfortunate situation, and we tried to deal with it as best as we could. I understand you expected more of us, and, as usual, we would like to take the opportunity given by your feedback to improve for prospective travelers who maybe reading this in the future, and to send them a message: dear friends, if you feel we are not doing enough to help you, please ask! We are a human-powered company, and as much as we try to answer questions before you ask, your input will be at times necessary, and at all times welcome!

Excellent Experience

Great booking experience! Luca responds quickly and answers questions thoroughly. The booking experience was easy and efficient. We have reserved our beautiful villa far in advance, and we cannot wait to be there!

Luca and team are the best ever!!!

Luca and team are the best ever! They are super friendly and very helpful! I highly recommend them!!! We booked our stay at one of their places and my expierence has been great! Always replying my questions and going beyond every detail to accommodate our stay!

Wonderful, Stress free experience!

In the summer of 2017, my family and I booked a wonderful villa in Positano through Luca at Summer in Italy, it was a stress free experience, the villa was marvelous, exactly as shown in the pictures. Luca was helpful giving us ideas and recommendations which made our trip a memorable experience. In 2022 we are going back to Positano and the same villa! To celebrate my 80th birthday in a place we have come to love. Again, Luca was patient, kind and helpful. I wouldn’t book a villa in Italy with anyone else! Thank you Summer in Italy and Luca❤️

I have been dealing with Luca

I have been dealing with Luca, a true gentleman, very accommodating and professional! Trying to schedule an apartment rental in Covid time has been more than challenging but Luca came through for us. I would highly recommend Summer in Italy!

I reviewed "Summer in Italy" two days…

I reviewed "Summer in Italy" two days ago and based on their response, I felt I needed to submit one more review. It is always very disturbing to me when a company blames their failure on a third party. In this case (please search the prior reviews) they blamed VRBO. They attempted to distance themselves by utilizing quotes when they refer to VRBO as an agent. However they position it, they utilized VRBO as an agent and failed to upkeep/monitor their offerings through their agent. They claimed the deposit was a booking fee and blamed the user (me) for trusting the agent they retained to represent them. They claimed my comment of poor business acumen as being harsh, but their explanation truly illustrates their poor business acumen (sorry). The claim of no financial hardship is inaccurate, I booked airfare. Their lack of understanding once again illustrates their poor business acumen. Giving them a pass on (their agent) charging my card and not refunding it within 48 hours -their customer service was sub par. Given that their action resulted in my booking airfare, perhaps offering a discount at another property they represented would have been adequate. Maybe covering the transportation costs to get me from Milan to the next closest property 3 hours away would have been an offer that could have mitigated the issue. I fall back on poor business acumen once again. Customer service is an art, one that Summer in Italy patently lacks. Once again, please think twice before utilizing them for your holiday booking.

Dear Stephen, thank you for following up. I am still surprised at finding such hardship on your side, honestly. Call me dumb, tell me I don't understand customer service, but we clearly state that booking requests are confirmed with 24 hours. You put through a booking request that could not be confirmed, and I am very sorry about that, and the response was given within the stated 24 hours. No credit card payment was processed for any portion of the rental fee. We do not blame any failure on any party, to be fair, since the request was correctly processed along a flow which can result in a request being confirmed or, regrettably, declined. Your request was put through Vrbo, and I am not blaming you for trusting Vrbo. Vrbo clearly explains on their web site that they charge a service fee for putting through a request, which is not a rental deposit, and which is refunded if the booking request can not be accepted. That's all. I don't see how explaining how they work or using quotes around the word "agent" means we are keeping them at a distance. The quotes were used since Vrbo does not operate on an agency model and is technically not an agent, but the word can nonetheless be used to identify their role. I understand that you might have bought airfare before receiving a response on the status of your request, and once more I am sorry to hear about the trouble. However, and let me also apologize for my lack of understanding, I don't see how an offer for free land transportation for a booking that never actually happened could have been expected. I realize that you feel that there was an issue that should have been mitigated, however you reservation request went through the normal flow at our company, where all requests are treated individually, and where a definite answer is given with 24 hours. To prospective guests who might be wondering why we go through the trouble of checking each and every request with a live staff: in today's connected world, reservations are made by multiple "agents" around the clock, through web sites, apps, phone calls, email. Unlike hotel rooms, private holiday homes are unique dwellings which are not easily replaceable, and the technology currently available to process automated reservations is not able to completely eliminate the risk of double bookings. At our company we feel that it is far better service to promise a definite response within 24 hours rather than create double bookings. We will try to further improve our communication so that guests booking with us have no doubts that they need to wait for a live member of our team to confirm their request before finalizing their travel plans. Also, I apologize to Stephen for appearing like the one who always wants to have the last word. The Trustpilot system is such that companies are required to respond to guests' feedback -- which I think is fair and shows respect for the guest's opinions, as well as the will for participating companies to always listen and improve. Even though Stephen's experience does fall within the usual flow, his comments are being analyzed by our management as we strive to always surpass expectations.

Excellent customer service

Excellent customer service and great response times. Luca and Kristiana always answer queries promptly and do their best to provide as much information about the properties as they can.

100% positive.

My interactions with the good people at Summer in Italy have been 100% positive. I find them to be immediately responsive and exceedingly helpful, no matter what the topic. When dealing with renting a property from halfway around the world, you can't ask for anything better.

Booking made EASY on Summer…

We booked a villa in Positano on Summer In Italy. It was seamless and quick. All the information we needed to make a decision was there. We contacted the site with a few questions and received a response within hours. Fantastic Service

The most generous of gestures... Summer in Italy is simply a superb company, and here is why...

I had plans to stay at an amazing 20-person Villa on the Amalfi Coast, booked in December ’19 through Summer in Italy, for my Fiancée’s immediate family, and mine, who would have been attending our Wedding in Ravello in late Summer. The help and assistance I received in advance of the booking from Luca and his Team, was instantaneous and exceptional, and nothing was ever too much of a problem for anyone. Over the early months of this year, however, it became clear that our stay at the Villa was going to be an impossibility this year. Like so many people whose travel plans have been disrupted due to Covid-19, disappointment prevailed. I certainly was not expecting any pleasant surprises as I worked through the process of cancellation with Summer in Italy. In an extraordinary act of kindness, seldom seen in this day and age, while I was fully expecting to lose (justifiably) my initial deposit, Luca who runs and manages Summer in Italy, unprompted and unsolicited, suggested that he would turn a blind eye to the terms and conditions which I signed up to, and rather than lose the initial deposit, said he would provide me a voucher, to the value of the deposit amount, which would be valid for 3 years. I was, and still am, shocked and aghast at this unexpected level of consideration and kindness. In an age where, in my opinion, this world is overrun with selfishness and greed, particularly corporate greed, it is enlightening to find a small gem of a company, whose ethics and ethos are more aligned to the well-being and interests of their clients, than themselves. This ethos emanates from the top at Summer in Italy, but you can experience it at every level in the company. All you need do is phone them and you will see this for yourself – unparallel Italian charm, hospitality, and genuine care. In this instance, however, this remarkable gesture goes above and beyond. To explain, contractually Summer in Italy would be totally within their rights to retain my deposit, and not return a single cent. Not only has Luca decided not to do this, he also has, somehow, managed to convince the owner of the Villa concerned to be equally generous, and overlook contractual terms. And it seems he has managed to agree this with all of the owners of all of the Villas, which are promoted on the Summer in Italy Website. This would have been no small feat to get all to agree, but somehow, this have been achieved. Which is why I cannot understand any of the ‘single-star’, negative feedback comments, which I have read below. People making such complaints have no argument. They signed an agreement. Even if they had taken out travel insurance, the insurance companies would not have covered the costs of their initial deposits, because of Covid. So why expect a small company to fulfil the responsibility these very same ‘complainants’ assumed, when they signed the agreement, when even insurance companies won’t...? I am simply baffled by these comments...! The offer of the voucher by Summer in Italy is, consequently, a monumental gesture of support, nothing short of virtuous, and something only to be lauded, in my opinion. Especially on a platform like Trust Pilot, where I see that some people try to take unjustified advantage. I have never used Summer in Italy before, or contacted them prior to my initial request in December ’19, regarding my summer booking, but anytime I return to Italy from now on, I will absolutely use them without hesitation. If everyone in this world acted and behaved as honourably as Luca and his entire Team have in the circumstances, the world would be a far, far better place. Even though I have not been to Italy this year due to Covid, the experience I have had overall with Summer in Italy has been amazing, culminating in what I can only describe as an amazing act of unadulterated altruism, and I am delighted to know that such “good” people exist in this day and age. If your intention is to plan a rental holiday in Italy, I can say - hand on heart - that there is only one choice in my opinion, and that is, Luca and Summer in Italy, all of whom are entirely honourable and dependable people. A presto, Italia... 😊
