The first lesson did never happen

The first lesson did never happen I have paid and the lesson was scheduled 3 times. But so far no lesson has been given. I want to cancel the lesson from this teacher Elka Dencheva and transfer the money to another teacher  How can I claim your 100% performance guarantee ?

Read the small print

This company has received multiple complaints for several years on multiple sites concerning its failure to adhere to its own terms and conditions which, until 15.07.26, were consistently worded as follows: 15.07.26 If a student discontinues lessons, THE TUTOR RECEIVES A PAYOUT EQUAL TO 50% OF THE AMOUNT PAID FOR THE LESSONS COMPLETED WITH THAT TUTOR. Now there is a magical 'update': 22.07.26 If a student discontinues lessons during the initial period, WE WILL REVIEW THE CASE AND, WHERE APPLICABLE, PROCESS THE TUTOR PAYOUT IN ACCORDANCE WITH OUR TERMS. What a clever way (you thought) to continue avoiding payouts, except that, despite your subtle change of small print, it was still large enough for it be noted, for screenshots to be taken and for it to be included in reports currently being compiled prior to the entire matter being reported to regulatory authorities. You’d better revert to your card tricks. Which one will it be now? This is not a genuine experience. This is illegal and defamatory. This is a review about another company. The problem you have is that, on other sites, you do not have the advantage of manipulating flagging tools – but you manipulate them with a vengeance here. That has already been reported. Over the last twelve months Tutoroo has received 213 reviews at this site. TUTOROO flagged 81 of their reviews a total of 119 times. A further 8 are still being investigated. That is a staggering rate for a company that has received so few reviews. However, Trustpilot has rejected 83% of them. By all means, keep regurgitating the same feigned concern that you have been doing for years. By all means, keep implying that you are a world-wide organisation with your references to your “teams” all of whom are specifically related to a city yet none of whom, despite the limited regions that they supposedly represent, appear capable of paying out any money until 1-star reviews appear and, despite your attempts to conceal them, remain. By all means, keep flagging me. Rest assured, however, that your company is very well flagged. UPDATE Exactly as predicted! Hi Liam, You’ve written a review for TUTOROO, and they’ve asked for more details to better understand your experience. If you provide some extra information within 3 days, it’ll help them recognize your experience and respond. If we don’t hear from you, the company may not be able to recognize your review as genuine. “They’ve asked for more details to better understand your experience” What more details do they require? [1] I refer to complaints on multiple websites. Is that not understandable? And they know those sites because – owing to the lack of flagging tools which they manipulate here – they are forced to respond. [2] I refer to ‘updating’ of Terms and Conditions and quote directly from the Trustpilot site. Is that not understandable? After all, Tutoroo itself is the company that did the updating. “If you provide some extra information” [1] The information I provide is published by Trustpilot and is available via the link on this site. [2] I suggest that Tutoroo contacts Trustpilot if the information provided by the latter is insufficient. Poor old Tutoroo has trouble understanding and it has had trouble understanding the litany of comments made about their payout methods for years. However, I do suspect that it understands very well which is why it continually tries the same old tedious tactics to avoid response. “If we don’t hear from you, the company may not be able to recognize your review as genuine.” I couldn’t care less.

Not really happy with the experience

I have taught 4 sessions, and as his personal reason, he did not continue with me. Which means I did 4 sessions for earning nothing. I have no idea where I can ask for the half pay as the TUTOROO was mentioned on the policy. To be honest, I feel that I am wasting my time. If it's possible, I might close my account.

A great find

The company is very invested in connecting Tutors and Students. It takes it's policies very seriously which is a good thing to ensure things are fair and conditions met between student and teacher. It was my first time trying the site and I am so glad I did I found exactly what I needed. They are insanely responsive to any issues as well.

I think the TUTOROO platform is a good platform

I think the TUTOROO platform is a wonderful place that connects students with teachers. It’s a safe and reliable platform for anyone who wants to learn a new language. My student, Brandon, is very kind, respectful, and hardworking. I hope I can help him improve his Chinese while making his learning journey enjoyable and rewarding. I also hope he has a great experience learning Chinese with me.

As a tutor on Tutoroo

As a tutor on Tutoroo, I’ve experienced repeated and serious issues with the support team that I think other tutors and students should know about. When students ask to adjust their payment link - for example 1 hour instead of 1.5 hours, or a single lesson instead of a 2-4 lesson package over two weeks - support takes 2 days or more to respond, or doesn’t respond at all. This pushes students into a default package that doesn’t actually match what they asked for. The team suddenly becomes responsive again the moment payment goes through. Meanwhile, support actively chases students to pay, but is completely unreachable for anything else. There’s a clear double standard: if a tutor doesn’t respond within 2-3 days, their profile gets blocked immediately, no matter the reason. But support itself can go silent for days with zero accountability. On top of that, tutor payments are badly delayed. When a student discontinues lessons, the tutor is owed 50% of the remaining balance, and the PayPal transfer is taking over a month and a half (sometimes more as I can read here), despite Tutoroo’s own terms stating “within a month.” Transfer fees are still deducted from the tutor’s side, even with this delay. Tutors are doing the actual teaching work and are the ones penalized by slow, inconsistent support and late payments, while Tutoroo collects student payments instantly. This needs to be addressed.
