Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many travelers frequently encountered frustrating flight delays, poor seating conditions, and a complete lack of communication from ground staff during their journeys. Consumers also reported dealing with unhelpful customer support teams, unexpected heavy fees for checked baggage, and sudden schedule changes that ruined their travel plans.
Some reviewers were happy with the friendly cabin crew, tasty meals, and overall smooth, on-time flights that successfully met their expectations. A few other people also mentioned that the check-in process went quite smoothly and baggage collection at the airport was very quick.
Booked a Hong Kong–Bangkok flight through Batik Air. The operating carrier (Thai Lion Air) changed the departure time by six hours with three weeks' notice, and there was no comparable same-day alternative. Thai Lion Air confirmed in writing that I was entitled to a full refund, but said Batik Air (as the issuing agent) had to process it.
That was over a week ago. Since then I've sent three follow-up emails, including a final notice with a clear deadline, and received nothing but automated acknowledgments — no human response, no refund, no timeline. Batik Air's website has no working refund request tool for this situation, and their WhatsApp line is a bot that can't help either.
I've now had to file complaints with the aviation regulators in both Malaysia and Thailand just to get a refund the airline itself agrees I'm owed. If you book through Batik Air, be aware that getting a refund after a schedule change can mean a lot of unanswered emails.
Batik Air PER to DPS and return(both flights significantly delayed!) no explanation whatsoever. I can understand 30 minutes or even an hour, but a 4 hour delay with no information being advised. Never again will we travel with Batik Air.
I flew Batik Air for my flight from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore and it was the worst flight I have ever taken in my life. Right off the bat, our flight was delayed by 2 hours. Even as the incoming flight had landed and the passengers had alighted the crew was nowhere to be found. They arrived after the passengers for the outgoing flight arrived. And it gets progressively worse- the AC on the flight wasn't even working and they were charging you FOR WATER.. that's low. The flight was then delayed for another two hours due to "no air clearance" and then they began distributing water to everyone when they realised we need it to survive this oven of a flight. Had to use the instructions manual as a hand fan. Even a bus ride would have been better. Worst airline to travel internationally because they ruin your entire itinerary. Never planned to spend my entire day on a flight on vacation. Huge mistake to choose this airline, it'll only waste your precious time. Not worth the money at all nor is it reliable. The flight which was supposed to take off at 1 took off after 7 and made a toaster. Had to cancel all our reservations which were chargeable. Please take consideration of your precious holiday time and steer clear of this airline if you actually wanna reach your destination. It has a history of delaying and CANCELLING flights. Beware.
My experience with Batik Airways was extremely disappointing.
Last month, I was travelling to Langkawi. I joined the boarding queue more than an hour before the scheduled departure, yet there was no final boarding call. I remained in the queue while the boarding process moved very slowly. When I finally reached the counter—about 45 minutes before departure—I was informed that I could no longer board because, according to their policy, passengers must complete boarding at least one hour before the flight.
I was shocked. I had arrived on time and had been waiting in their queue the entire time. The delay was caused by the airline’s own boarding process, yet I was denied boarding and held responsible for something completely beyond my control.
What made the experience even worse was the behaviour of the duty manager. Instead of listening to my explanation or trying to help, she spoke to me in a raised voice and treated me with a lack of respect. As an international traveller, I found this treatment deeply upsetting and unprofessional.
This was one of the most frustrating travel experiences I have had. Airlines should treat passengers fairly and respectfully, especially when delays arise from their own operational processes. To me, this airlines is simply a scam! They just wanted to cheat me and they did it. People should not avail this low class cheat airlines!
Batik Air is the worst airline. Period. I had used this airline several times now, and it never failed to disappoint.
The first time I flew on Batik Air, it left my luggage at the departing airport. No acknowledgement, no apologies, no compensation. Trying to contact them was a real challenge as they made it really difficult to reach their support. When I finally got a response through email, they stopped writing back when I asked for compensation. I later found out on Facebook there're thousands of complaints and cases similar or worse than mine. So, I gave up.
Another time, I needed to reschedule my flight due to a last minute emergency, and I was ready to pay extra for it, but their online system didn't work. I tried their chat, and their AI was useless. Eventually, I wrote an email to request for assistance, and it took them over 24 hours to respond. I had already bought a brand new ticket by then. How could an airline at this days and age not have a 24-hour support with REAL HUMAN????
Batik Air also reschedules their flights all the time. As I am writing this review, I have received 3 (or 4) flight change alerts in less than 8 hours. When I tried to cancel and ask for a refund, it was rejected because "the airline did not confirm that the flight has been rescheduled for a significant time in accordance with the airline’s policy". For your information, the flight was changed from 11.50am to 2.20pm, then to 1.20pm, and as of now, it's rescheduled to 5.25pm.
I would seriously avoid flying Batik Air at all cost.
Would go less than a 1 star if I could. Booked the more expensive better timed direct flights both ways onto to have both cancelled 2 weeks before tog etc on a terrible flight with a lay over which they knew apparently was going to be delayed but then didn’t tell us until midnight the night of. Not worth the time or budget fee just fly with the next budget airline
I got an email ten hours before departure telling me the first leg of my flight had been 'retimed,' in such a way that I would miss my connection! There was no effort to fix the situation except for a link for requesting a 'free exchange,' which did not work. The email address was unresponsive and the chat line was useless, with no way to talk to an agent. I had to go to the airport in the hope that I could reschedule. Fortunately I could. Unacceptable level of service.
Everything wrong. asked to pay for an upgrade and told.to get at gate
got to gate and had to do on check in but we transferred from another International flight. Ground staff rude and unhelpful, Gate change and no information.. Absolute shower. Will never get on one of their planes again. If Fawlty Towers ran an airline this would be it, but its not even funny.
To update post flight which was 5 hours from KL to Perth, plane was old, boarding chaotic , seats and legroom awful. And to cap it all the air hostess on being asked for a bottle of water asked for 5 bucks for it. Water on a 5 hour flight. That's outrageous. So poor.
Disgraceful airline tried to book luggage for home trip couldn’t verify our booking online then charged $420 at the counter never again contacted them when we got home they couldn’t care less very poor effort as we fly to Bali four times a year will never be with this airline again
We did not get the seats we paid for on both our flight to and from Bali. In fact, our seats were terrible. Seat selection cost $399.52. After 2 months of ignored emails, Batik Air have offered me a discount code which is insulting. Batik Air T&C's state I am entitled to a refund and they refuse to acknowledge this.
The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I have sent countless emails and WhatsApp messages requesting assistance with a refund for my return flight after Batik Air rescheduled it. Unfortunately, I have received no meaningful help at all—only automated responses with a ticket number but no actual follow-up or assistance.
I even visited the Batik Air office at the nearby airport in person, hoping to resolve the issue. However, I was informed that they could not assist with refund requests and that I would need to contact Customer Service instead. Despite my repeated attempts to reach Customer Service through multiple channels, my issue remains unresolved, and I have received no clear guidance on how to proceed with my refund request.
This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.
We booked this airline hoping it was going to be reliable and Before we even got to Thailand they had changed the departure time 4 times and whilst being in Thailand for 2 weeks they have further changed it another 3. Absolutely rubbish service and reliability
Poor Management of Batik Air Malaysia (KLIA to Trichy) We had an extremely disappointing experience with Batik Air. Our family of 17 passengers, including children and elderly members, made a group booking and checked in on time. Boarding passes were issued according to our selected seats. However, just before departure, two of our family members had their seats changed without prior notice, with the new seat numbers handwritten on their boarding passes.
When we raised the issue, the cabin crew appeared to be unaware of the seat changes and referred us to another staff member. The staff member who attended to us was unprofessional, disrespectful, and unable to provide a clear explanation or satisfactory resolution to our concerns. She initially informed us that the seats had been purchased by family members of Batik Air staff. However, when we later spoke to the passengers occupying our original seats, they informed us that they had been on the waiting list.
We fail to understand how confirmed seats that had already been allocated and reflected on our issued boarding passes could be reassigned to other passengers at the last minute without prior notification or consent. We are particularly concerned by the impression that these seats could have been made available to waiting-list passengers despite having already been assigned to confirmed passengers. This was especially disappointing given that we had made a group booking to ensure that children and elderly family members could remain seated together. Such actions caused unnecessary inconvenience, confusion, and distress to our family.
The conflicting explanations provided by staff raised serious concerns about Batik Air's poor management and poor seat allocation process.
As paying passengers who followed all procedures, we expected transparency, professionalism, and fair treatment. Unfortunately, this experience reflected poor communication, poor coordination among staff, and a lack of respect for customers.
Nobody answers our query, their customer support does not answer any emails and I do not know how to reach my final destination. Never again fly with them.
