He was very knowledgeable about the traditions of the villages we visited and went the extra mile to help us with what we wanted to see and experience. Thanks to China Highlights for a wonderful 2-day tour in Xian. Got to see all the iconic sites and got extremely lucky with the timing. Have been wanting to visit the Terracotta Warriors for sometime now, and was able to do so on its 50th anniversary of its discovery which spotlighted the rare colored warriors. It was wonderous and truly amazing! My guide, Winnie, made it extra special. With her vast experience and being a native of Xian, she shared many engaging stories and pointed out unique sights. My tour also featured stops at the Big and Small Wild Goose Pagodas, the Muslim Quarter, Old City Wall and Xian Museum. And somehow we even fitted in, "The Legend of the Camel Bell" show--another must-see. It gave me a good overview of Xian's importance as the entry point to the Silk Road. Thanks also to the organizing team, Liz, Lussie, and driver Suan. The entire team were friendly, responsive, well-organized and efficient.

We booked a day tour to Jiuzhaigou National Park and had a wonderful experience. Our tour guide, 陈程, was fantastic and very knowledgeable. She explained the background and history of the area throughout the journey and helped us took lots of photos. Our driver, 刘师傅, was professional and ensured a safe journey. He even dropped us right in front of the entrance of Jiuzhaigou National Park, saving us extra walking, and sent us to the train station on time. We truly appreciate their excellent service. My wife and I took a tour in China in June of this year. Carol Wang of China Highlights helped planning and implementing a private tour for just two of us. We were a couple of 79-years-olds (now 80) with a desire to take long afternoon naps every day. So, Carol tailor-made an itinerary for the tour for us. Our experience was great! We feel refreshed every day. We now think we are not too old to travel, and we have already planned for another trip next March with China Highlights. Our tour starts May 27 and ends on June 15, 2025. During the tour, we enjoyed a Yangtze River Cruise and stayed in Chongqing, Chengdu, and Kunming for several days. We appreciated very much the local tour guides, including Mr. Peter Pan at Chongqing, Ms. Sammi at Chengdu, and Ms. Selena Xue at Kunming. All the guides are fluent in English and Mandarin. They were knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. I feel the hotels were far better than the 4-star hotels I experienced in the US. The hotel staffs gave friendly and efficient service and did not accept tips. The breakfasts served in the hotels each day were feasts that are better than anything I had experienced.

We spent 2 weeks in China in September 2025 - half in Beijing, half in Shanghai. On some days we wanted tailormade support (guide and transport for 2). China Highlights provided that - exactly what we wanted, reliably, on time, and at very reasonable cost. He goes out of his way to take us to sites that interest to us but not in the itinerary. Very helpful to recommend restaurants and places to shop. Ken has excellent knowledge about the history and culture of Xi’an and its many attractions, flexibly adjusted our schedule to the wether and added additional activity to address our specific interests (e.g. calligraphy). His English is very good and so were his lunch suggestions.

We thank Leon for planning our trip to Chongqing, Yangtze cruise and tour of Wuhan,Nanjing,Hangzhou,Macao. Our guide in DAZU shared her love of the area as well as her knowledge of the history and made this part of the trip most memorable. The Yangtze cruise was a little disappointing because of the low water level of the river and made trips to and from the ship quite tedious. We were not impressed by the quality of the hotel in particular in Wuhan. We particularly enjoyed the city of Nanjing because of the wonderful guide who was most impressive with her knowledge and her attentiveness in seeing us settled in our train seats for our next journey. We were disappointed with the private transport service since in several cities we were crammed into a small vehicle, 4 passengers and a guide and suitcases .it was frankly dangerous when suitcases were stacked in the backseat and 2 of us were also squeezed at the back! We think that this can be improved. The guides in general were very helpful and knowledgeable. This was our second tour with China highlights. Our first tour was definitely five stars!

Excellent Service and Amazing Guide, But Room for Improvement I recently booked a trip through China Highlights, and I want to start by saying that the service was great, and my guide Ada (and the driver) for the Silk Road part was absolutely the best! She was friendly, attentive, and made my experience memorable. My travel advisor Camilla was also very friendly, always quick to answer and adjust my itinerary whenever needed and helping me with all my questions. She did everything in her power to make my trip better and as comfortable as possible. However, I did find some areas where the planning could be improved. The initial itinerary wasn’t always aligned with my preferences. After providing feedback, the advisor worked hard to make adjustments, which I appreciated. In the future, I believe the advising process could be enhanced by asking more detailed questions upfront about the client’s wishes, travel style, and interests. This would help tailor the itinerary more effectively rather than just selecting highlights and sightseeing spots. I also felt that the itinerary and the advice provided lacked some detail. Including more information, pictures, and truthful descriptions of the places would help manage expectations better. Sometimes I was surprised by what I encountered because the information I received was either minimal or based on generic tourist descriptions. It’s important to know exactly what to expect at each location. Additionally, I recommend checking the travel pace—make sure it aligns with your preferences. For me, the schedule was a bit too slow, and I felt I had too much free time in places with limited activities. Lastly, I missed a bit more variety in the itinerary. I’d have loved to see a better mix of culture, local life, food, countryside, historical sites, and nature—more than just the typical highlights. In summary, China Highlights offers good service and excellent guides, but paying more attention to personalized planning, detailed information, and diverse experiences could make their trips even better. The coordinator Virginia Fu is very professional and helpful. Unfortunately, the male guides in Beijing and Shanghai are not as meticulous and attentive as the female guide in Xian. 刘艳(Lily) was our guide in Xian and she was good. The guide 褚力帆(Martin) in Shanghai is not as professional and the driver was also not working with the guide as a team. They provided a 7 seater car in Shanghai for 3 tourists but the boot was too small to fit 3 luggages. The backrest in the 3rd row couldn't be lock and it comprises the safety of the passenger sitting in the 3rd row.

When we decided to visit Jiangxi China, we approached a number of agents and finally settled with China Highlights. Carol Wang listened and planned an itinerary according to our request. Communications with her were smooth and easy and she was always available to answer any further queries that we had. There were adjustments made along the way and finally came up with an itinerary we liked. The driver that we had for the 12 day trip was excellent. We felt safe in his hands. Kevin our guide for the 12 days was good. He knows his history and was flexible with the itinerary. Just finished my 9-day guided tour in China and here are my thoughts. First and foremost, the tour was organized very well. Each our our guides from Beijing to Zhangjiajie to Chengdu were all absolutely wonderful. They certainly did more than necessary to make sure my partner and I were taken care of. So, why is this a 3-star review? My main problem is with chandler wang. China/Asia highlights has always been very meticulous in their planning and this wasn't any different. The problem was that after the email exchanges, he gave me a number on Whatsapp to stay in touch and he just simply never responded. So, what's the problem if he doesn't respond? The problem is that he is my main contact in case anything changes or if I run into a problem. For example, when I arrived at one of the airports, my guide was about 5-7 minutes late. There is no way for me to contact the guide to communicate this since I wouldn't know who it is, and my only contact with the company doesn't respond in case of emergencies. This is one those things that could turn out very bad (luckily everything went well).

I most enjoyed our service by the tour guides. All three of them, Alvin, Eleven and Sloven provided excellent service. They know the place and history well, they listen tentatively to customers’ requests. Eleven is the one with the highest energy of all the tour guides I have met. This trip Huangshan-Hangzhou- Shanghai is a 5-day trip so the planning is not as well as my previous experiences with China Highlights. Two out of the three hotels we stayed were not up to our usual standards and I hope China Highlights should arrange better hotels. Overall, the trip is OK but not excellent as we have expected or experience before.

Leon & the team planned our trip to Chongqing-Yangtze-Zhangjiajie really well! Knowing that we don’t speak the native mandarin tongue too much & not to mention unable to read, him & our local tour guides arranged provided clear instructions & directions to navigate ourselves around easily. The places & itineraries were well planned that fits our need. Especially loves the Zhangjiajie national forest park where Cindy was proactive to suggest alternative locations when it was too misty to see the scenery. All in all great experience !
