Hardware 9/10, software 2/10.
I can't send a thing remotely and this thing keeps disconnecting.

Hardware is very good, but software still needs work and sadly using normal OrcaSlicer makes you lose some features, but still is the more reliable Slicer
It's AMAZING the Snapmaker U1 the only small downfall is the filaments the way they are positioned its not the easy way to change them and not the best way to keep the perfect humidity conditions. a part of that I've been using it more than my other Printer P2S
pretty pissed with customer service, as well as wasted expensive material on failed prints. not even using multicolor. I WIsh they had said that the Topper wouldnt be shipped until November. I have had all 4 toolheads filament detector / feeders fail * from built up filament backing up, and breaking while removing*. now im spending $200 for 4 replacement pieces of plastic, which should cost me like $2, not $200. I thought it was a good deal, and was impressed from videos I had seen Online. and spent my savings on this machine. only to be let down and wasting hours of my very little free time, trying to fix problems I have with the machine. Very dissapointed, I used my "snaps" for a discount and was unable to use them on a certain purchase and lost them. I really had high hopes for this printer and Went with it instead of bambulabs. but I am not very impressed with the money I wasted. firmware is totally bugged, I constantly get Error Codes popping up on screen, even though I auto level and manual level everytime I print. Need a better slicer interface and other special fillament support. I have 90% fails and 10% success with printing.

Bought many things that took months to get here and still don’t have my covers which I paid $$$ six months ago. Honest companies don’t charge until they are getting ready to ship. I felt this was very shady just keeping money that long without being honest up front how long it would be. I had to spend more money to make the dollar store version of a lid because you can’t get your production in order. Massive issue with tool tips exploding, already had 4 on 2 printers, again pointing to production issues. First time I brought it up they pretending like it wasn’t a known issue and told me to pay for parts. I like the products overall, but outdated business practices are huge turnoff.
REPLY: reply states estimated shipping was shown but that is false. Dates came out later in an email and just said “preorder” on the order form with no mentioned of how long.
I am happy you’ve added a shipping estimation apparently, but it’s false to say it was always there.

Dear Jason,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for being a long-time Snapmaker customer.
We're glad to hear that you like our products overall, but we're truly sorry that your recent experience has left you disappointed.
We understand your concerns regarding the preorder process for the U1 Top Cover. The estimated shipping timeline was displayed on the product page when preorders were placed, and payment was collected at the time of purchase to reserve production capacity and allocate inventory. We sincerely apologize that the extended wait has caused frustration, and we appreciate your patience while we work to fulfill all remaining orders as quickly as possible.
We're also sorry to hear about your experience with the filament leakage that damaged your toolheads. After reviewing your support case, we can confirm that our technical support team arranged complimentary replacement parts for the affected components once the issue was confirmed. We understand how frustrating repeated interruptions like this can be, and we've shared your feedback with our engineering and quality teams as we continue improving product reliability.
Your comments regarding our preorder process, product quality, and overall customer experience have been shared internally. Feedback from experienced users like you is invaluable as we continue improving both our products and our service.
Thank you again for your honest review and continued support.

Received a defective product that I've been unable to return/exchange.
Support is unresponsive and inattentive, the return policy is vague.
Other than that the device is pretty okay with a relatively shallow learning curve, but good luck if you need support.
*EDIT* It looks like opening a negative review is the best way to receive prompt support, see the vendors response below.
**EDIT** Almost a full month later without resolution, support is slow to respond

It’s printing great and I am really happy with it. The only thing I think you should do is put in the cap and so it comes together in a combo. It is a little loud and at the time I bought it the cap or top was not available so I have made my own lid and I’m sure your lid is a lot better
Great intro price for filament. Hopefully it’ll print well. Not quite free but $10 for shipping one roll of filament via USPS seems a bit much to me. Got here reasonably quick. I want to like this company and I see they offer lots of good products. I’ll certainly keep them in mind for my next purchase.
U1 - my experience and a story of missed opportunities
My experience with the U1 so far
I won't repeat the general pros and cons of tool changer printers. Instead, here's my experience with the U1 after using it for a while.
Overall, the U1 offers excellent value for the price.
Pros:
- Fast delivery.
- Good interaction with the community.
- Reliable print quality and solid build quality.
- Well-designed touchscreen UI.
- Useful features like manual bed leveling in addition to automatic heated bed leveling.
- Fluidd integration is a big plus.
- AI monitoring has improved significantly since the first firmware releases and now works reliably for me.
Cons / Issues / Missed opportunities:
1. Print Head Contact Issue
This is my biggest problem so far.
One of my print heads frequently reports a pogo pin contact error. I've already followed the official troubleshooting guide several times, including cleaning the pogo pins with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth, but the issue remains.
The print head aligns and docks perfectly every time, so the problem appears to be electrical rather than mechanical (print head PCB, carriage board or pogo pin interface).
At this point I hope Snapmaker will simply replace the affected print head instead of asking me to repeat and document the same troubleshooting steps again.
2. Hardware & Concept
The overall concept is great, but several design decisions leave obvious potential unused.
- The filament path isn't ideal for feeding directly from filament dryers or dry boxes, and the bending angles are not great for brittle materials. Lets not speak about the offered "inhouse" solution with the polymaker boxes ;)
- The lack of quick-swap nozzles is probably the biggest missed opportunity. A tool changer is almost the perfect platform for such a system. An updated hotend should be a priority.
- The optional enclosure feels incomplete without an integrated chamber heater.
- Filament loading/unloading is only semi-automatic, many actions still require the touchscreen, and there is no filament rewind.
- Native support for closed filament systems (ACE Pro, AMS, CFS, etc.) would be a huge upgrade. The community has already shown what's possible—please make it official.
- The camera frame rate is still very low.
3. Software
The software still feels unfinished in several areas.
Examples include connection drops, limited printer controls, limited filament profiles, bed boundary handling, and a mobile app that is mainly useful for monitoring. Connections are often lost after reopening the app, and overall responsiveness still feels slow.
The U1 is no longer a brand-new printer. I would like to see community improvements integrated much faster into the official software instead of remaining workarounds.
4. Accessories & Spare Parts
There is still a lot of untapped potential.
- Hardened nozzles are not included, although the default profiles already assume them.
- Many filament spools don't fit the supplied spool holders.
- Why can't hardened nozzles be purchased individually?
- The optional enclosure is expensive, not well integrated, and still doesn't include chamber heating.
- The filament voucher promotion is difficult to use because it requires a separate order with additional shipping costs.
Final Thoughts
Despite the criticism, I genuinely like the U1. The hardware is solid, the print quality is excellent, and it has all the ingredients to become one of the best tool changer printers in this price range.
What currently holds it back is the ecosystem: software maturity, upgrade strategy, spare parts availability, and several design decisions that could be improved relatively easily.
I'd really appreciate a response from the Snapmaker team, especially regarding the print head issue and whether features like quick-swap nozzles, improved filament management and a better integrated enclosure are on the roadmap.

Dear Matthias,
Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed and thoughtful review. We truly appreciate both your recognition of the U1's strengths and your constructive feedback on the areas that can be improved.
We're glad to hear that you've been satisfied with the print quality, build quality, touchscreen experience, Fluidd integration, and the improvements to AI monitoring. It's equally valuable to receive your suggestions regarding the hardware design, software experience, accessories, and ecosystem, and we've shared your feedback with the relevant product and development teams for further review.
We're sorry to hear that you're still experiencing the print head contact issue. To help our engineers investigate and resolve this as quickly as possible, we kindly ask you to submit a troubleshooting request through the following link if you haven't already:
https://snapmaker.formcrafts.com/u1-troubleshooting-request
Our technical support team will review your case in detail and work with you to identify the root cause and provide the most appropriate solution.
Regarding your suggestion about making hardened steel hotends the standard configuration, we completely understand your perspective. When designing the U1, we chose hardened steel for the extruder gears because they are subject to greater mechanical wear and have a more significant impact on long-term extrusion performance. For the hotends, we selected stainless steel because it provides excellent durability for the vast majority of users printing common materials such as PLA and PETG, while also helping keep the overall product cost reasonable. For users who frequently print abrasive or engineering-grade materials, hardened steel hotends are available as an optional upgrade.
Regarding filament compatibility, the spool holder is designed to support filament spools with an inner diameter of 52–60 mm, a maximum width of 70 mm, and a maximum weight of 1 kg. Filament spools outside these specifications may not feed optimally. We understand that broader compatibility with third-party spools would be valuable, and we've shared this feedback with our product team.
We also appreciate your suggestions regarding quick-swap nozzles, filament management, enclosure integration, spare parts availability, software enhancements, and the overall ecosystem. Feedback from experienced users like you plays an important role in helping us prioritize future improvements.
Thank you again for your honest review and continued support. We hope to provide you with an even better experience as the U1 ecosystem continues to evolve.

The Snapmaker Team
Need to update app pain in the butt to use since there's really no database for Prince some most has to be done on computer but the printer itself is all right had a lot of issues with one of the pool motors jamming and airing and having issues otherwise a pretty good unit I don't know if I would have bought it still use my other ones more just don't do multi-colored prints cuz I don't like wasting poop

The printer itself is great. It works well and there is an excellent Wiki that provides help when needed. No problems there, but I am still waiting for the hood for it. Without the hood, I cannot use materials like ABS which really require a heated chamber.
Snapmaker 回复2026-07-09
Dear Adrian,
Thank you for sharing your feedback.
We're delighted to hear that you're enjoying your U1 and that you found our Wiki helpful. It's great to know the printer has been performing well for you.
We also understand your anticipation for the Top Cover. We know many users are looking forward to using engineering materials such as ABS that benefit from an enclosed, heated printing environment.
The U1 Hood is currently in production, and we are working to deliver pre-orders as soon as possible. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding while we complete the remaining preparations.
Thank you again for your support. We look forward to providing you with the complete U1 experience soon.

Great machine prints high quality models and easy to use my only complaint is snapmakers filament ive had 2 separate incidents where the rolls caused 12 plus hour prints to be ruined due to jams caused by the filament spoils tangling up and another incident where I can not use a roll of black due to it closing the tips to a point the print fails but other than that ease 9f use is amazeing prints never disappoint and aftermarket filament plus snapmaker equals unlimited masterpieces
