Update: the case eventually got resolved and the money refunded but it took nearly a year, and as a result of the persistent inaction on the part of Alibaba my business did indeed collapse in the interim - having paid out so much for much-needed stock, never receiving said stock for the better part of a year to fulfil orders, and continually being fobbed off by the marketplace operator who "assured" the sale - it was chaos. Admittedly this happened during the beginning of COVID so everything was chaos, but we really needed communication and there wasn't any, just copy/paste fobbing off.

Trade assurance is a scam, our business has nearly collapsed because a supplier has failed to provide goods for the 2nd time (been waiting 4 months now). After supplier lied for weeks then now ignored me for weeks Alibaba just keep sending the same copy and paste message on the refund request and putting it on hold for 10 days, and just now they finally responded with something that wasn't copy/paste and it was totally false and showed that they hadn't even looked into the case.
The order came on time, the product was good, but after paying $50 for shipping (nearly a 1/4 of the total cost), I was also contacted by UPS to pay an extra $20, which was unexpected. All shipping costs should be made clear up front. This did not happen the last time I ordered through Alibaba

The website suddenly had BLOCKED OUT THE U.S. on many item listings and I was bewildered because no one could tell me why.
Since that time it has become clear that THE US TREASURY DEPARTMENT of all people, has decided to BLACKLIST THE ALIBABA WEBSITE.
Some items seem to still be visible and others simply refuse to page load with the notice = THIS PRODUCT CANNOT BE SHIPPED TO YOUR REGION.
YOU BETTER TAKE NOTICE: this will affect everything and makes all we were told regarding Donald Trump look like a lie.
The news is that Joe Biden intends to allow the current trade war with China to not only stand, but to INCREASE THE MEASURES. This is all national news at the moment. This trade matter is not red or blue, just real.
I have a prop shop. I supply props for films and videos. That requires LIFE LIKE MANNEQUINS OFTEN so I have been buying life sized silicone dolls for many situations.
The pages of those will all crash and you get this message = This product is not available for shipment to your region".
I should also note that I have active importer accounts at 2 other major China websites: DHgate & AliExpress but am now very concerned that =

I have shopped AliExpress before and out of 20 or so purchases only had an issue with 1 and was given a prompt refund and all that was most likely a covid thing.
I recently registered with Alibaba to connect with manufacturers of the products I needed.
In the US we have been conditioned to seek out manufacturers in China. I realize there are many other manufacturing markets like S Korea, The Philippines, Taiwan, Singapore, India, Bangladesh, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Mexico, etc
BUT THERE ARE NO ONLINE MARKETPLACES FOR THE SUPPLIERS TO INTERFACE WITH THE SELLERS FOR ANY OF THEM.
So today I am giving Alibaba 3 stars which is just above dead center. I do not know how much of this overall issue is their actual fault if any at all.
I do understand the absence of the American manufacturing base, but also realize there are items like these life size doll/mannequins that are simply NOT mass produced here so this leaves me stuck and also MANY OTHERS WITH SIMILAR PRODUCT SUPPLIER NEEDS.
I will be monitoring the situation and UPDATING THE RATING & REVIEW AS OFTEN AS NEEDED TO KEEP THINGS CURRENT + ACCURATE.
It is very hard to get understood on the need on ALIBABA when you do not buy the product presented and they manufacture. Even if the supplier is announced as manufacturer.
I spend a lot of time to source and discuss and finally drop the talk as this is not relevant.
Suppliers consider our market like the one in China (with China population) but it is not the case our quantities are very often little after little and what we look for is ability to deliver regularly small quantities, flexibility.
they want us to buy their product not the one we need. For example on a radio, (aviation band) I am looking for a radio with a frequency step of 8,33 they want me to take the old standard that is not anymore the standard for more than 5 years of 0.25Mhz.
If I place a RFQ some answers but never precisely targeted to my need. A lost of time.
Alibaba has to improve on controlling the pertinence of the answer and the time it take to set a deal. I can be the tester.
site is great just bad companies out there they just want to charge more for shipping fee & price..need to find better suppliers and freight forwarder to deal with:D
This was my first experience with Alibaba. The supplier of the product I wanted to purchase created an order for me, and that order was inaccessible by me when logged on either with my Alibaba account or with my Google account. Then another order got created that I could access, but that had to be cancelled. Bottom line: I cannot access the actual order that was executed, it doesn't show up in my shopping history... And Alibaba support claims they cannot transfer that "ghost order" to my account. Some improvement is in order!
buying on alibaba is hit or miss. Many sellers which are actually middle men. Quality can be very inconsistent between manufacturers. Make sure you order samples first.

I have been used Alibaba.com for several years and it worked just fine. They have changed something in web site and well as in the app and it just does not work right any more. I do not get messages without refresh.
The free hand of the dollars rate conversion to the suppliers is not a good idea. There should be a reasonable exchange rate by the Alibaba itself, the exchange rate i had been charges was 7 dollars above the market exchange rate. It is bit unfair.
Trying to get a few meters test fabric printed with my files. First supplier did fine, then stopped having the fabric I need.
3 following suppliers sent terrible quality, holes, cut off parts, sizes completely wrong, stains in the white.
I got refunded each time but still, I need this simple work done at some point, it's been MONTHS trying to find someone responsive who gets what I need .
Two of them even outright stopped replying at some point.
There are solid vendors out there but a lot of scammers as well. Most of the time you are asked to confirm the delivery and product quality long before you actually receive the product, which means their safety pledge does not mean much in practice. Be aware, it is just based on days since purchase and auto confirms whether you have received the product or not. You can file a complaint, but this downgrades your vendor rating in the system.

Delivery was in Time and quality of Delivery was very Good, only delivery cost was completly different compared to first pricing and invoice, much more expensive finally.
