Bikes were boxed up securely by Valley Bike & Ski in Minnesota. Shipped promptly and arrived on the date specified. Shipping hit a bump on delivery - needed signatures which with our schedules made coordination a bit challenging. Bikes were shipped with no damage or problems.
It WAS INTERESTING HOW THE SIZE of my case was larger than I measured on the way out, but perfectly sized on the way back.... not saying it was bike flights problem, but I paid the $50 extra just to eliminate the issue
My pacakage arrived a day early & in great condition. I saved so much money vs going to the post office !

The bike frame was broken during shipment but awesome support from Bikeflights…
The bike frame was broken during shipment by UPS. However, Bike flights was amazing with their prompt help and immediately offered to reimburse for the broken parts. At the end, the cost of the part was minimal, so not a big deal. But I have to say that I was really happy with their honestly, responsiveness and follow-up.

Hi Matthew,
We’re sorry to hear your bike frame was damaged during shipment. We haven’t received a claim from you yet, but we’d be happy to review it and work through the process with you.
Please submit your claim as soon as possible. We ask that damage claims be filed within 7 days of delivery so we can properly investigate the shipment and work with the carrier while the relevant information and documentation are still available.
We hope to hear from you soon so we can take a closer look at what happened.

Generally speaking I thought the portion that was provided by bike flight was fine. The labels were fine the ordering was fine . The problem was with the bike shop that shipped the e-bikes . They both came damaged . And they were both taken apart almost completely which was not what I was expecting. There were two evikes it cost me $500 to put them back together and make them usable. Definitely not what I was expecting.

Hi Chuck,
Thank you for the thoughtful feedback. We’re glad to hear the BikeFlights portion of the experience—including the ordering process and labels—went smoothly.
We’re sorry to hear about the condition of the e-bikes when they arrived and the additional $500 you had to spend getting them reassembled and usable. We understand that having a bike shop completely disassemble the e-bikes was not what you expected and that the resulting damage and reassembly costs were frustrating.
While the packing and preparation of the bikes are handled by the bike shop, we certainly understand how the overall experience reflects on the entire shipping process. If you haven’t already, we’d be happy to review the shipment details and any documentation or photos of the damage to see if there’s anything further we can do to help.
Thank you again for sharing the feedback.

It took two weeks after purchase for me to actually get a shipping label, which could have been reduced to instantly if I had been given some information *before purchase*.
The order of events, as best I can remember them:
- I take my bike to my local bike shop (in CT) to be sent to Seattle (where I am moving). They tell me that they can disassemble it, package it, and give me the dimensions/weight of the box, but that I should pay for shipping through BikeFlights and send them the shipping label. Sounds good to me.
- They send me the dimensions and weight, and I go to BikeFlights. BikeFlights wants a description of the outside of the box, but I have never seen the box.
- I send email to my local bike shop (LBS hereafter) and ask them to send me photos of the box.
- Two days later, they do so.
- I go back to BikeFlights, enter the information about the outside of the box, pick a date for the pickup, and pay for shipping. At this point, BikeFlights tells me that the dimensions of my box are below the limits imposed by shippers, but that they are too close and I need to send them photos of the box with tape measures in the picture so they can verify the dimensions.
- Let me point out that there is now a clock counting down. It's a later weekday (Th or F) and I have set a pickup date for a early next week. But BikeFlights is closed over the weekend, and my LBS is closed Sunday and Monday. So I essentially have one day to get this information to BikeFlights.
- I call my LBS, tell them the story, and ask them to send the pictures. They do so. I send them to BikeFlights. Here I admit I made a mistake: I left out one picture. BikeFlights writes back asking for the missing picture. I send it.
- The next day, BikeFlights tells me that the dimensions are too large. And having taken my money, and accept a pickup date of what is now effectively the next day (given the hours of the LBS and BikeFlights), BikeFlights tells me that they will not issue a shipping label. I cancel the orde.
- I go back to LBS and tell them the story. LBS (which is now, I get the impression, reconsidering recommending BikeFlights in the future) agrees to re-pack the bike in a smaller box-- but they have other work they need to finish first.
- Four days later, LBS sends me the new dimensions with photos (with tape measure). I go to bike flights, enter the new dimensions, and buy shipping from LBS. The bike is picked up.
Total time: approximately 2 weeks. But this could have been reduced to one interaction with your web site IF YOU HAD TOLD ME DURING THE PURCHASE JOURNEY that (1) I would need to know what the outside of the box looked like, and (2) the acceptable dimensions of the box.
Next time, I'll be giving ShipBikes a try. Yeah, I need to use their box, but at least I know it will work.
I can not thank your team enough. The item shipped for less than half the price I was quoted at a UPS, and arrived in 2 days to the buyer in perfect shape. I will use again and would 100% recommend to others. I did buy my own box for shipping from a local bike shop and packaged very well, but the delivery service and speed was incredible.
This was the second time I used BF and the experience was as good as the first time. I had questions for this shipment some of which were answered by a user friendly Chat feature and then followed up promptly with a return phone call with a BF staff person. The booking process was user friendly as well and my bike arrived at its destination on schedule. This is the best way to ship bicycles!
I disagree with the UPS re-calculation of our box size. Our box measures are accurate. This is a scam to charge us more! I guess we need to document every shipment with photos. This sucks!

Hi Greg,
We understand how frustrating it is to receive a carrier adjustment when you believe the dimensions you entered were accurate. We also understand why you’d be hesitant to have to document every shipment.
When UPS applies a dimensional adjustment, we do have a process for disputing it. In this case, we provided instructions on the specific photos and measurements needed to compare the package against the measurements captured by the carrier’s scanning equipment. Unfortunately, by the time those instructions were provided, the box was already with the recipient and likely no longer available to document, so we weren’t able to pursue the dispute further.
We certainly don’t want customers to feel that an adjustment is simply something they have to accept. If you believe a carrier measurement is incorrect, documenting the package before shipment—with the full exterior dimensions and shipping label visible—is the best way to give us the evidence we need to investigate and advocate on your behalf.
We’re sorry this experience was frustrating, and we appreciate you sharing the feedback.

Thanks for the additional checks to to ensure that the box would not incur ~$1K in additional charges if found to be over the max dimensions.
This was my third time shipping with BikeFlights. As before the process was straightforward and the charges about as good as I could get.
My bike was delayed 3 days causing me to have to rent equipment.putting me out of pocket for the rental subsequently the delivery was not worth it. There was no indication on your website that I saw that ups who your company uses does not deliver on the weekend, which is surprising because in every other part of the country they seem to.I took insurance on the delivery and plan to make a claim on the rental and reimbursement of delivery charge.

Hi David,
We’re sorry your bike was delayed and understand the frustration of having to rent equipment as a result. We know that when you’re shipping a bike for a specific event or trip, timing is especially important.
We did monitor your shipment closely once you contacted us. The shipment was originally scheduled for delivery Friday, June 26, but UPS reported an uncontrollable delay in its network. We reached out to you Monday morning, June 29, to let you know we were actively monitoring the shipment and that it was out for delivery. We also followed up on your voicemail that morning, and UPS confirmed delivery to the destination that afternoon.
Unfortunately, because the shipment was scheduled for a Friday delivery, the delay pushed delivery into the weekend and then Monday. While we can’t control UPS's network or weekend delivery availability at a particular destination, we recognize that this distinction is especially important when shipping a bike for a time-sensitive trip.
We’re also happy to review the claim you mentioned. If you submit your documentation for the rental expense, our Claims team can review it against the applicable coverage and determine what may be eligible for reimbursement.
We’re sorry the delay resulted in additional expenses and appreciate you sharing your experience.
