Cake was delicious and very fresh. Would recommend. However, member of staff in the store when I went to collect was incredibly rude both on the phone and in person. He clearly wanted to close the shop early despite the closing time being 7pm. I arrived at 6.15pm within the time slot given.
We bought pistachio cake in Orpington branch. My kids were all excited because the cake looked delicious and well presented. Unfortunately we all got disappointed. The cake does not taste fresh especially the bottom part, it was wet and smelled bad. The frosting just tasted chemical. We could not even taste the pistachio. We wasted £34.

Extremely disappointing experience. The Black Forest cake was not up to the mark, and there were no delivery updates or tracking information. We spent hours wondering whether the cake would arrive on time. Sadly, this was for our 10th wedding anniversary, and the poor service ended up ruining a special day. I would not recommend this service based on my experience.

I’m really disappointed with my experience. Although the cake looked cute on the outside, the inside was very dry. I had specifically requested less cream, but that request was clearly ignored as there was an extremely thick layer of cream both inside and outside the cake. Collecting the order was also frustrating. I was given an address, but nobody specified that I needed to search “Cake and Box” on Google rather than just using the address itself, which caused me to go to the wrong place that took me 20mins drive there and when i contacted them they said to write cake box on maps which made me arrive late. When I finally got there, I was told I was supposed to collect it by 12pm, and I explained the confusion. They then said the cake was ready, but when it was brought out, it was missing all the bows and the written message I had requested. I had to point this out and wait another 15–20 minutes for them to fix it. Overall, the whole experience was very disappointing. Hopefully this was just an issue with this particular store and not the same across all branches. I even contacted the branch afterwards to tell them the cake was so dry it wasnt eaten by the guests either. But nobody bothered to get back.

Well presented and nice cake, good service
Used to.think.cake and bake where good . Untill my son and son in law ordered there wedding cake from.there for the 16th.of April.this year . They paid for it to be a certain way and had to.pay extra . When the cake was cut it was completely wrong . So.the whole bottom tier no one ate . But cake and bake have offered the a 50 gift card which is a joke considering the cake cost nearly 400 pound Even.sent prof into cake and bake it.was wrong but they take no accountability. My.advice do not order a wedding cake from.there

Worst cake ever had ...We spent 57 pounds on a terrible cake ,No sponge inside only full of cream ,just wondering am i paid 57 pounds for the whipping cream??Please don't order here and ruin your memorable events.I called them and tried to chat with them before placing the order no one responded and wasted 2hours of my time before ordering it.Horrible customer service. I travelled 15 miles to collect this miserable cake.

Walked in served straight away. Ordered the cake I wanted, made while I waited, decorated lovely. This is the third cake I have got from this place. Staff are always polite, helpful and attention to detail. Will definitely buying from here again. Parking right next to store, so less chance of walking a distance and dropping the cake. Also comes in a very sturdy cake box.
13.03.2026, 9am , South Woodford E18 shop I asked for a recommendation for a chocolate cake for my wife’s birthday, but unfortunately the cake we received had no chocolate taste and no chocolate cream inside. It was extremely disappointing. We have never had such a bad cake before. It was honestly quite unpleasant, especially considering that it was supposed to be a chocolate cake. To be completely honest, even the £7 Belgian chocolate cake from Waitrose tastes ten times better and actually contains chocolate. This was a very disappointing experience, particularly for such an important occasion. Never go there again AVOID

I have been a loyal customer of Cakes and Bakes for a long time and used to consider them the best in London. Unfortunately, my recent experience was a total letdown. The quality just wasn’t there—the sponge was dry and the flavors felt muted compared to the high standard they used to set. It’s sad to see such a great spot lose its touch.
