Add move checks, it's to difficult if we mouse slip, and why not free, it's good but resources are not free
Thank you for this feedback. So that available moves will be displayed when you select pieces in games, make sure to enable the option "Show Legal Moves" in Board settings. On our website, you can access these settings by clicking the gear icon to the top right of the chess board while on the Play page. On our app, you can access this setting in the menu: More > Settings > Board. On the Chess.com app, you can also enable the setting "Confirm each move" in the menu: More > Settings > Play > Live Chess. We're working to implement the "Confirm each move" setting for Live Chess games on our website as well!

I don't know about engine users - chess.com is apparently trying very hard to ban actual cheaters. There are A LOT of cheaters who are banned every day. But, for example, sandbagging in tournaments is just normalized on chess.com; I don't see them banned as much as engine cheaters. And I have to talk you out of buying subscriptions on chess.com. A lot of premium features are just filled with BUGS and don't work, like studying your own openings, where you see almost all of your games as draws, and you don't see the real statistics. This is wild for such a huge company and these subscription prices. And the "support" is an AI chatbot that only gaslights you into thinking that everything is working. I am not even talking about the fact that all these features are just right there, free on another popular chess website.
Thank you for this feedback. We have automatic detection systems in place to identify and ban sandbaggers, as well as cheaters. These accounts are immediately banned from Chess.com! We completely understand how important the concern is with sandbagging, especially when it comes to tournaments. With that in mind, our team is exploring potential restrictions or criteria we can add to tournaments to prevent newer accounts with un-established ratings from participating. It should be possible to view your win-loss-draw stats for all your games using the Explorer or Openings tools on Chess.com. So that we may investigate the issue in more detail, please contact our Support team or submit a bug report at: www.chess.com/support
Thank you for your 5-star review! We greatly appreciate your support for Chess.com.
Many complain that the site is full of cheaters but I did not have that problem. The problem I had was that my Son who had just started learning chess and become very excited for it was banned, accused of cheating and the only way he could continue to use chess.com was to admit that he had done something wrong which he had not done. It seems as he was a much stronger player then me his Father and liked playing against and beating his Father and in these games he consistently achieves very high accuracy(verified on other platform) without cheating he was banned. Chess.com are exceptionally arrogant when they make these accusations but evidently their system does not work for some types of players.
We never wish to close accounts on Chess.com, and we only do so when a violation of our policies has been detected. However, if you believe your son's account was closed in error, you can choose the Appeal option in the email notice sent after the account's closure. Click on: "Get Back to Chess", then "Submit an Appeal". If you have not received a notice, please visit: www.chess.com/support
Stay away from this place. Internet chess died a long time ago with a big assist with the launch of this site. If you plan to play on this platform you literally have to cheat to win in about 25% of your matches just to have a somewhat accurate ELO. This is due to the immense amount of cheaters they do very little about. I did an experiment one time with an account I created there. I play 100 games against 100 different users. I used a bot to play all my games and was never reprimanded or had my account deleted. I ran every game through an engine detector afterward and found that 18% of games used a form of cheating using engines. Only 8 accounts were removed even after reporting and nothing happened to mine. So if you play here just be ready to play against cheaters in about 25% of all matches.
I am a dedicated chess player, but the current state of fair play on Lichess and Chess.com is disheartening. After conducting in-depth statistical analysis of thousands of games using AI tools to distinguish human patterns from engine-assisted play, the results are alarming. In my experience—and corroborated by data—approximately 30% of opponents in the 1000-1300 rating range use external assistance. This isn't always about "bots throughout the game," but rather the more insidious form of "selective cheating" (on/off cheating). Players behave like amateurs in the first half of the game, making numerous mistakes, only to then display over 95% accuracy when they find themselves in a losing position. This "magical turnaround" phenomenon is destroying the competitive integrity of the platform. What frustrates me most is the lack of action. Profiles with over 1,500 games and clear, recurring robotic patterns (0 errors, 0 failures, ultra-low ACPL in complex endgames) remain active despite multiple complaints. Lichess and Chess.com seem to prioritize avoiding false positives instead of cleaning up a contaminated environment. I'm losing interest in playing because the effort of honest study is being negated by people using calculators. Lichess and Chess.com need to update their "selective cheating" detection algorithms and be more transparent with the results of complaints. Until then, it's not a fair game for those of us who play fair.
Thank you for this detailed feedback. We care deeply about stopping cheating in games, and we've dedicated more resources and personnel to detecting it than any other organization in the world! We're also never complacent about cheating, constantly expanding our detection methods. You can find out more at: www.chess.com/cheating Our statistical models determine the prevalence of cheating to be at a much lower level in the 1100-1300 rating range. If you'd like to share your data and research methods with our team, please send us an email at: [email protected] Your input matters to us!
Shit site tried it again even clicked new to chess and still I play noobstomper killablenoobs and feed me more noobs for other 3 hours so im pretty sure unless you have 100000 games in chess or years spent this sites not for you! Shit support for new players just experienced players but they will tell you thats not try. Also on a side note why did it start me at 600 if im new and barely won 4 because the other players keep saying everything.
I personally had a very bad experience on this app. 1) I have been matched with a lot of pretty obvious cheaters (pretty long streaks of 93% and above precisions), completely neglected by the "anti cheat software" 2) I have been "banned" for Fair Play violation, no other information shared, despite me being a premium (and very long standing) user. This is particularly strange: I have never cheated, and I have not even one suspicious match (my precision rarely goes above 85%, sometimes lower than 70%). 3) The AI based support "Chessica" which loops, and basically tells you to go to /support to have answers... when /support is exactly the starting point. 4) Difficulties in reaching out to a human to have my premium membership refunded. Uniting point 1) and 2), and considering the other comments, I believe the "anti cheat" mechanism and policy is terribly bugged, and it does require huge rework. I believe that considering paying-customers feedback would be a good idea as well.
Stopping cheating is one of our absolute highest priorities at Chess.com. We analyze hundreds of millions of games each month using state-of-the-art detection methods, and any account found to be cheating is immediately closed: www.chess.com/article/view/chesscom-update-may-2026#FairPlay At the same time, high accuracy in a game is not proof of cheating and can be achieved by players from time to time. If your account has been restricted or closed, please check your email inbox for more information, including the option to submit an appeal request. You can submit a refund request or get further information on your account status by visiting: www.chess.com/support To submit a refund request in the Support chat, click on "Start Conversation", then "Get more help". Full of cheaters , the rules are literally broken asf iv had people use 2 or 3 queens at once , the skill based player matchup is broken. Do not even bother playing , get a chess board in real life and play
Thank you for this feedback. In the official rules of chess, it's possible for player to have two or more queens! This is the poorest chess platform , Of all the platforms I have used, this is absolutely. The worst. It is populated by people who don't know in the least playing chess, And that to put the opponent in difficulty, they try to manipulate the game to their advantage, Using the technique of eating all the pawns that are on the opponent's chessboard.Sometimes they try to get 5 or 6 queens with pedestrians, in order to win,The bad thing is that those few who seem to know that I don't play when I use computers instead, and it's not the ability to play with serious people Or to play games that can enrich the player himself.Basically we find ourselves with clumsy people who cannot play and who go left and right disturbing the game. The platform policy is somewhat poor, they do not take action towards people who do not play honestly,And they favor the easy game for people who don't have any kind of game rules. So if you are looking for a platform with serious people to play a good chess game with. This certainly does not have a platform that can help ..I signed up in August, and honestly I deleted the account because after 7 months I didn't find a single player worth playing with ..When they make reports on some profiles that have sabotaged the score or put the game on me, honest people's accounts are penalized,But not of those that have broken the rules..Basically a poor platform on multiple fronts, even just playing with the bot is like playing like a one year old,So obviously it gives absolutely no joy to play with incompetent people who sabotage the games, like a platform that defends these elements, and where they don't even respect them Basic rules of chess or sports.Truly a bad platform.

I have been waiting for a refund for about one month. My account was closed, I requested my money back several times, and I kept receiving the same automated responses saying someone would contact me in 1–3 days. So far, the issue has not been resolved. I am very disappointed with the customer service and the lack of a clear refund process.

I have screen shots of all the times they acknowledged cheaters and gave me elo points back in my inbox. They use ai and cheating programs to make you lose to get you to continue to play and pay for online tutorial features. When you refuse to pay they make you lose no matter how much you won or how good you are. When you spot cheating you can tell how significantly genius the opponent is in the beginning but when the clock is about to run out from stalling to research winning moves they become awful players. I also have screen shots of me catching the players. The owners of this program are weak. They are encels who collude to make cash. They financed and supported the greatest cheater in chess history. They also admitted to it in the Netflix documentary about they guy they help cheat then later banned and used as a scapegoat. Look at it. It's worth a watch. DO NOT PAY for this app. Use other free apps to learn to play. I just learned to play in Feb and already I figured out their scheme. These guys are encels. Weak people can't take the truth and also can't confront you. They are losers so they try to create more losers in the game. What a disgrace. These guys are Def paying for it in real life. If you need proof go look at my games. Longest1. How can a guy who was consistently winning and playing at my level lose every single game after reporting them all of a sudden? I took no lessons or paid for their service. Just old fashioned interest. These guys are losers. Don't waste your money. They also can't beat me in real life lol.
The site is really good and players as well most of the time till now but then I’m starting to get irritated cause of this. In last 2 matches whenever I offered draw the moment I click on the draw option the whole site acts as of it got crashed/hacked. And then I have to reset the site and when I’m on it, I’ve already lost. This is shit
Sorry for the difficulties with the draw offer button! So that we may investigate the issue in more detail, please contact our Support team or submit a bug report at: www.chess.com/support
Full of cheats and chess.com do nothing still.
Stopping cheating is one of our absolute highest priorities at Chess.com. We analyze hundreds of millions of games each month using state-of-the-art detection methods, and any account found to be cheating is immediately closed: www.chess.com/article/view/chesscom-update-may-2026#FairPlay
The rating system for this website is absolutely garbage. you will go on a short win streak to get your rating back up to what it was and then you will immediately play people who are clearly better then you, cheating, or smurfing and get absolutely beat to a pulp the next game. I tried picking up chess as a fun game to start playing more consistently but I hate it now and I never want to play it again. It is in no way fun to have people be winning constantly in a game and there is nothing you can do because they don't make mistakes but every move you make feels like one. This same thing goes on with the bots, it's either you beat them terribly or you get beat terribly it's not fun. Do not use this website for these reasons on top of what everyone else says its a waste of your time.
We're sorry to hear this! However, the rating system on Chess.com is built to help you track your progress and find equally-matched opponents. Here is a quick article with more information: support.chess.com/en/articles/8566476-how-do-ratings-work-on-chess-com As chess players, we all experience losing streaks as well as winning streaks. That means sometimes you'll have significant rating losses, but a winning streak and rating gain may be just around the corner! Combatting cheating is something we're never complacent about, and we're constantly researching and implementing new detection methods to stay on the cutting edge of fair play. Keeping the game as fair as possible is extremely important to us! Any account found to be cheating is immediately closed, and rating points are returned to opponents. You can read more about this here: www.chess.com/cheating
Chess.com don't worry about all the hate your website gets 200M+ users and only 1.598 people have made a review. I like the puzzles and lessons I am looking forward to buy gold/platinum someday. The streak keeps on making me come back even on weekends. Happy to support you!
Hi Vinchin, we greatly appreciate your feedback. Thank you very much for supporting Chess.com!
Honestly id put my review at negative one star if I could its so veteran friendly but hates and I cant stress this enough but it hates new players. The rating system is so bad and if you play players who are bad and you get put higher you just have to suffer through your loses to be able to have fun and enjoy it will getting absolutely destroyed. So Honestly not worth it ever would gather gamble then play this anymore.
We're sorry to hear this, and we want you to know that we're working on new and improved tutorial displays for players who are just joining. We want it to be as easy as possible for new players to navigate Chess.com and to discover the great game of chess! In your initial games, you may experience or losing streak or winning streak depending on your starting rating, but the good news is that your rating will adjust dramatically so that you can quickly reach your true playing level. If you're just discovering chess, make sure to select the option "New to Chess" when creating an account, since you could otherwise end up facing higher-rated opponents in your very first games.
