I needed to cancel our fare from Guilin…
I needed to cancel our fare from Guilin to Guangzhou and buy new tickets from Guilin to Hong Kong same day. The staff from China Highlights were very helpful and advised what I should do late night when we realized we needed to rebook for next morning. When canceling a train ticket, you are subject to 20% cancellation fee and you will not get back the service fee, which seems a little high; 22% of total fare. However, the service was excellent.

The service is great! Booked my train tickets online and they were waiting for me at my hotel. I inputted our names the wrong way around (should be Last Name, First Name), but that was quickly corrected my Sharon. On my mobile phone the website didn't let me select the "delivery to hotel" option though, so I had to order it from my laptop instead, hence the missing 5th star. I will definitely use China Highlights again!
Good service. Some issues with e-mail and cancelling.
First time worked really well. Second time there were some mixups with changing the date of tickets. Some of our e-Mails got lost in CHTTS's inbox. We followed their FAQ and cancelled our tickets at the train station and got new ones. All good but the cancel information was not propagated to their system and sorting our refund took a bit of waiting and effort and some e-mailing around. Now everything is in order though and their staff was very helpful and apologetic during the whole process. All in all I recommend their service for booking tickets ahead online. Though you should know that you can buy train tickets cheaper (but cash only) for any train and any date at any china train station.

No tickets at the time we wanted
We couldn't get tickets for the departure time we booked 3 months in advance. We had to choose new departure times, that there really bad. Better wait 1 month before your journey and book with trip.com to get the tickets at the time you want.
Very pleased with China Highlights...
Overall I was very pleased with China Highlights. I opted to have my train tickets delivered to each hotel I stayed at in Hong Kong and China, each were delivered and waiting for me on arrival. Another thing I found extremely helpful was the information and Chinese phrases they provide you along with your ticket, for example they provided an explanation of the ticket itself explaining what your train number was, boarding section, carriage number and seat number etc. (Sounds simple but it can be difficult when you can’t read Chinese). They also provided Chinese phrases you could use to show your hotel to collect your ticket, one to show taxi drivers to take to your station and phrases to show train personnel. The reason I am giving 4 Stars and not 5 is because I did have a problem with one of my tickets (my passport number was wrong). I will admit China Highlights were very quick in their response to my email where I raised the issue and they did manage to rectify it but it made things a little more difficult when I got to the train station. In the grand scheme of things this was just a little snag in an otherwise excellent service provided by China Highlights. I would highly recommend and if I ever return to China I will be sure to use them again.

Online reservation was easy and allowed…
Online reservation was easy and allowed choosing of seats. There was a charge of $6 for each ticket but worth it. This is our first time doing so. We picked up our train ticket at Kowloon West Hong Kong and was charged $20 (Hong Kong dollars) for each ticket. No charge if tickets were picked up in China. Recommend online reservation over buying ticket in person. It might be fully sold by the time you were there in person.
Worked well
Just to be clear, collection from any train station in China does not mean metro or subway train systems. We saw a couple trying to redeem vouchers at a metro in shanghai. Seems obvious, but not to everyone. Customer information at the station was average and they told us to arrive 1.5 hours before the train left. Turns out you sit for boarding until 15 mins before the train leaves. Obtaining tickets was easy. Go to the shortest queue when doing so.

It was a good experience to travel by fast train with our grandson. We all 3 enjoyed a lot. all facilities like hot water, cold water, toilets etc were excellent. Getting paper ticket, porter service were also good. Cleaning was not so good.
