We used China highlights train services, thru Man Seat 61 and Real Russia.co.uk for our train tickets from Beijing to Mongolia. Our tickets were on at our hotel on arrival, one email to Moscow and it was all sorted. I would use them again
Helpful an fast responses. However they could be a little more knowledgeable on the seating. Although we had sequencual seat numbers we ended up sitting quite far from each other as the next number started on a new row, this happened for 2 trains. Also, one ticket wasn’t available and they didn’t give an alternative, so we ended up looking up and booking that ourselves.

We cannot select the exact seats when we purchase ordinary train tickets like T trains or Z trains online. The tickets are issued by China Rail’s system automatically. So, it is possible that the seats are on 2 different rows even with sequential ticket numbers. Only G trains and D trains (bullet trains) offer a seat selection service at the moment. When one of your tickets was unavailable, we informed you at once when China Rail stopped releasing the tickets. We were sure tickets would be released again, so I asked for you to wait for us to book a ticket on the same the train. We didn’t suggest other options, because the direct train you requested was the most convenient way to complete your journey. However, you booked tickets with a change of trains yourself directly. Therefore, we canceled your booking for that journey and refunded your payment in full. If you had waited for the tickets as we suggested, we could have booked all tickets on the direct train for you.
We bought our tickets for the bullet train early but they suspended the tickets. I don’t know how a company can sell you a ticket then suspend it and finally charge me to cancel the suspended ticket. Never again. Bad customer service. No explanation or help.

Good service. Does what they advertise. Responsive if you have questions by email. No complaints. Loses 1 star from me because the price is a little high. 50 USD charge to book a ticket isn't a very good value but that being said, I was happy to have the service when other options we're working. Would use again.
We got off to a bad start which may not be SH's fault. We booked the weekly K-23 Beijing-Ulan Bator green train. That train has unique tickets which baffled the employees covering the main entrance. They simply would not let us in the station without a red or blue ticket. We had to wander around with all our luggage until we found a small entrance on the east wall near the main entrance. When our Air China flight from UB back to PEK was 13 hours late, we missed our sleeper to Enshi, but using text messages Iris got us on a China Southern flight to Wuhan. BTW, Enshi is a great place to visit, with Tuci Palace, Bourbon St like area, and the China Grand Canyon and 4 mountains walk.
I would give it a 5-star service if it was not because of the very poor US online representative. She hung up my phone before I finished my questions. Other than this, I did pickup my tickets smoothly in a train station.
Great service and communication. I'm just a bit hesitant about the exuberant price for the service. We had little trouble once in China to book other train tickets, for a fraction of the price.

The customer service was very fast-responded and he/she answered thoroughly all of my questions. Overall, I would recommend this online booking service to my friends next time if needed. However, the price was relatively high which costed me doubled price of my international train ticket (Nanning-Hanoi).

China Highlights made the process clear from our initial contact, and included helpful documents like how to navigate Chinese rail stations and what our tickets meant - really handy! We used them for two trips, once to pick up tickets from the station and once for them to be sent to our hotel - both times had no issues with collecting overall. The emails from the agents were templated but when we had questions they replied quickly and clearly. Only area for improvement would be that the date of issue of one set of tickets changed but no one told us, although we were told to expect to hear on a certain day; so we had to follow-up when we didn't receive the expected confirmation. Letting us know when this happens proactively would be better. But overall a good service.

Selecting a company to help buy the tickets is not easy to start with. Completing the application form is straight forward. Payment is a little awkward if you don't already have a PayPal account & although creating one isn't difficult, being able to pay directly with a card would help. However, this is much simpler than other companies who supply tickets. Arrangements to purchase and deliver the tickets were well explained and happened as described, although it is a little disconcerting to pay for a ticket and know that nothing will happen for a few months. Instructions for using the ticket are clear & helpful. Some are over cautious, but that is not a bad thing if you are not familiar with how things work in a foreign environment. Overall a good service and an enjoyable journey in China.
This is a good service. However, in one of their forms they asked for my name. I only put in my last name because they did not specify that they required all three names to be inserted. As a consequence they could not process my application and required an additional nine dollar fee to correct the mistake. This could have been easily avoided, and the process expedited, if they had simply indicated all three names were required.

We have very detailed instructions with regards to our bookings pertaining to passenger's full names on the form and our website when completing it. We have stated clearly that travelers' full name and passport number must be exactly same spellings and same order as they appear on your passport. Any abbreviation, omission, inversed and misspelling will cause rejection of ticket collection at the railway station. We have name sample about how to fill in the name and passport number on our website. Once a booking has been submitted, our system will confirm and issue the ticket upon availability. Please kindly note we cannot revise any information after the ticket has been issued. When we doubled checked your order, we found the mistake with your name, and then suggested you cancel the incorrect ticket and rebook correct new ticket instead. If this was not done, you would not had been able to collect your paper ticket at the train station. We had to cancel the ticket first and rebook it with the correct information.
