Amy was the absolute best- we planned a wedding in Puerto Vallarta in about 6 months and she went above and beyond to make everything so special and so easy for our family to be there. It was beautiful and all the options were made so simple. Amy was available and so quick to respond anytime I had questions and I would 100% recommend destination wedding to my friends!
From the beginning the experience was less than desired. I travel a lot. Have taken many cruises as well as trips out of the country and this trip fell way below my expectations.
I originally asked for a swim up room in the family category. Amy Cate told me it was not available for my dates. I then screen shot her the room I wanted available on a travel website. So I get the excuse that they play by different rules. Then I have to send her a link to the resorts website to show her that the room I wanted is available for my dates. It was at this point that I no longer wanted to work with her.
Unfortunately since this was for a wedding I felt as though I had no other choice. The day of the wedding she contacted the bride about an issue with my son's room instead of handling it herself. Because of this I did not feel comfortable expressing my concerns while at the facility, as I did not need her doing anything else to ruin the brides special day.
As I stated in my email to Amy after returning home from the wedding, the place was far from a luxury resort. The room had an awful smell when we got there. It smelled like mildew. Our trundle bed was not prepared and after several attempts to call, I finally went to the front desk to ask that it be pulled down for us. ( I found out the guests in the adults only side had a butler that they could text, we did not have this option) We had a meet up and dinner that night. When we arrived back to the room ready for bed, there was no bedding on the trundle bed. My husband ended up laying on it using a towel as a blanket. I was sick that night throwing up from eating the room temperature food at the buffet that day. I had to get up the next day and go to my daughter's wedding feeling terrible and exhausted. I really wanted to leave that next morning and go home , but could not as it was the wedding day. I got through the wedding but was scared to eat much that day and didn't even have wedding cake.
The next day I picked at some food and would have loved to have some indoor activities because it was so hot and I still didn't feel good, but they didn't have anything I could find. Everywhere I went was so hot , I was miserable. I took a hand fan into the restaurants to try to keep from sweating.
After another day of misery we decided to pay to change our flights and leave a day early. When we told the front desk they never even asked why.
Once I got home I explained my experience to Amy and asked for a refund since we left early. She seemed sympathetic and said she would see about it. In the mean time I had left an honest review of her service and it got back to her. She then emailed me letting me know she got confronted by her VP about the feedback and then was no longer helpful in getting and refund. I would think a reputable company would try to at least get a refund for the night not stayed (if not more) for the terrible experience. Anyway, since then I have taken other measures to get some money back only to be met with more lies from the resort and your company. This has truly been the worst travel experiences of my life, not to mention leaving a scar on what should have been a special day for me and my daughter.
In addition, when I reached out to Amy after returning to talk about a refund, she then went and told my daughter about it causing her to get upset again. This should never have happened.
I would never recommend working with this company and whatever you do, do not book a stay at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres in Cancun. It is a total tourist trap!

I had the best planner there is Elise Roeschlein. She was there from beginning to end. She made my wedding so much easier. She help with all the phone call and questions and last minute things like flight changes, room changes etc….

I am currently in the process of planning my wedding through Destination Weddings and overall, my experience has been great! Patsy Pesa is my travel advisor and she has been a tremendous help with everything in this process such as helping me to understand how this all works or what I can expect financially, managing logistics, facilitating communication with the resorts that I’m interested in, and answering any questions or providing guidance to make me feel at ease while planning and getting things set up. Patsy has done a great job organizing everything and has saved me so much time and stress! Any future brides that always have a million things going on and not a lot of time to plan the perfect wedding should definitely consider using this service (not to mention it’s free)! Mindi did a great job helping me plan my destination wedding. In the beginning, she gave me plenty of resorts to choose from based on potential destinations. She was very understanding and patient with my husband and I. When it was time to invite guests to our wedding, she promptly responded to all their questions and concerns. I highly recommend using Mindi as your planner.

Worked with Amy Cate! She really was so helpful especially for someone who had no idea what she wanted to do. She is so knowledgeable and really helped us find a place fit our vibe and our budget without me having to go down the rabbit hole of research. There were several times throughout the wedding planning process where I was extremely overwhelmed and she was always there for me! Even just as someone to vent to. When we first decided on a destination wedding we thought we could do everything on our own. I started to get overwhelmed with all the resorts and decided we needed help. We signed up at destination weddings to get that help. Patsy was assigned as our specialist and made everything stress free as soon as we started talking. We had a welcome call with her she went over everything and instantly made us at ease. She kept the communication open with emails and phone calls despite being a 4 hour time difference. She helps us through the process with pros and cons of each resort and found exactly the atmosphere we wanted. In December of 2024, we booked a our Same Sex wedding through Destination weddings. We decided this company, as my niece who was married in 2021 also chose this company as they made us feel comfortable, welcomed and celebrated. When we initially booked, we discovered that we actually got the same travel planner as her, Ms. Amy Boyce. Through alot of decision making and changes, Amy was there every step. She also helped people several times with transfer vouchers, understanding room requirements, etc.We originally had 34 total people. We decided to book at the Majestic Elegance Punta Cana, as she was familiar with very much. Being that the rapport was good, we trusted Amy with all the details. Turning to last week, we celebrated our same sex wedding, with family who have never traveled internationally before in one of the most beautiful places. Without Any, this would have a been a huge struggle to handle by ourselves with international requirements, passport guidelines, transfers, insurances,etc. There were some hiccups along the way, but we're fixed.
My only downfall with DW, not Amy herself, was there was a promo established approx in January 2026 where if you met a certain number of qualified bookings, you received a Free party boat package. Unfortunately after several attempts, DW did not allow me to enjoy this as I already had booked ..in December of 2024. Although I understand limitations, this would have been a great addition. I did end up booking one myself.
DW does want you to enjoy YOUR day and will do things to prevent anything from going wrong, and making it right when it does.Amy is knowledgeable and is definitely the go to person! Thanks Amy

Andrea Coots was absolutely amazing in helping my husband and I plan our destination wedding! We truly could not have done it with out her. We had in total 51 guests come and she helped organize all of their travel, including finding the beautiful resort in the first place. We had the most perfect trip and wedding thanks in large part to her effort! All of our guests had such a great experience too and said she was such a huge help with their travels as well! I would absolutely recommend her to anyone planning a destination wedding of course or even just planning a trip in general!

In a word, our trip was: magical! El Mangroove was everything we wanted but didn’t know existed… until Sue Allen of Destination Wedddings found it for us! After years of stumbling thru vacation “planning” on the usual DIY sites (kayak etc)… we now see what an amazing difference working with a true travel professional can make!
