What people say

Customer service not a Priority

First time ordering and due to an error in shipping address I called Fedex and requested the shipment to be canceled however the rep stated Filterbuy must log on and cancel. I requested to speak to a Supervisor and was told Supervisor was not available yet she continuously put me on hold to speak with her/him. Customer service is definitely not a priority. Unfortunately, they failed to realize we would have been a great customer with the number of products we would have purchased!

Filterbuy is Money first, Customer Satisfaction last, Quality next to last

My experience with FILTERBUY is similar to others who have reviewed this site. Their rigid 90-day return policy doesn't take into account that you may have bought in bulk and don't use all of the filters within 90 days. The filters I bought here were the right spec but they didn't fit quite right and an AC repairman confirmed that they were the wrong filter size. I didn't discover this within the first 90 days but Filterbuy won't even EXCHANGE the remaining (unused, unopened) filters for the correct ones. (I guess I wouldn't want 'em back either).

over priced trash

i order what i thought was 4 cases of 14x14x1 and 2 cases of 20x20x1 air filters that are advertised as 6 packs on amazon but when i order them on this web site it was just 4 filters 14x14x1 and 2 20x20x1 for less price an when i tried to send the filters back it is going to cost my $35.00 , this company is a RIPOFF ... not quality filters ..go with amazon basic

Smaller Than Standard 20x20x4 Filter Size

The positive: good price and fast shipping. The negative: Their 20x20x4 Filters are much smaller than 20x20x4 filters made by the name brands. As a result, they don't fit properly in my air handler. Rather than pay to send them back, I am going to glue a cardboard frame to them to make them fit properly. In addition, the manufacturing quality of the filters are suspect. Name brands have spacers that keep the pleats evenly spaced. These Filterbuy filter pleats are not evenly spaced and the pleats are bunched up near the edges. They are also glued into place and cannot be adjusted. Save yourself the hassle and get name brand filters or be sure to verify that the ACTUAL size of the filter will fit your application.

filters much smaller than stated size and comparable brands.

The website claims that their filters are1/8 to 1/4 inch smaller that the advertised outer dimension. Two of the sizes that I ordered were 1/2 to 5/8 inch shorter than the outer dimension. As a result, the filters do not cover the return opening. I have retrofitted them with cardboard shims so that I can use them. Their customer service seemed unfazed by my predicament.

Slowest shipment I ever had - and 2 of them!

I bought standard MERV-13 home HVAC filters. Web site claims "Fast, free shipping". My "fast" shipping took 11 days to travel 263 miles using the absolute slowest shipping mode possible (FedexPost). Arrived damaged because of all the handling and mis-packaging. After days of "haggling" and making me prove damaged and waiting for Fedex to acknowledge damage, they shipped a replacement. Again, 10 days to arrive! I could literally walk there faster AND get a good night sleep every day!

BUYER BEWARE- Fraudulent business that holds onto your credit card information and ships you filters stating you had a subscription

Saw on my bank statement that Filter buy charge me for 6 air filters stating it was for my "annual subscription". I emailed them telling them I never authorized this and would never subscribe to an annual shipment and to send me a return label so that I may ship back and get a refund issued. They said they would "cancel" this subscription but I would have to ship the items back on my dime. This was a very large package. They must be doing awfully bad to charge a credit card an UNAUTHORIZED amount of $87.34. Will be calling the BBB on them as they kept on credit card information for them to use at their discretion with the excuse of a "subscription" that they were readily happy to "cancel". I put in a dispute with my Bank and will have them blocked from ever using my credit card information again. Do not give this company your credit credentials as they are scammers.

Bought 20x20x4 filters. They're not even close to that size.

Bought 20x20x4 filters. These are a standard size available at any hardware store. Typically 19 5/8 x19 5/8. Filterbuys were 19 3/8 x 19 3/8 and weren't same thickness either. (smaller all around) So needless to say, they don't fit. Not sure how they can list it at 20" when it's much closer to 19". Very misleading on their website. Had to pay for return myself.

BUYER BEWARE : Sent damaged filters; would not refund.

Sent damaged filters. No plastic wrap to protect during transit as shown on website (false advertising). Requested refund. Got run around. Filterbuy stated they couldn’t issue a refund until they received refund from their carrier (FedEx). Stuck with damaged filters.

Undersized/possibly mislabeled FilterBuy HVAC filters.

I found that FilterBuy 20 x 25 x 4 filters are actually significantly smaller than advertised and are too small for many HVAC units. So be careful looking for a bargain. When you select 20 x 25 x 4 on their web site you get the smaller filters. In small print on the page, you'll see the actual size. FilterBuy must have rounded up from 19.375 to 20 inches, 24.375 to 25 inches, and 3 5/8 to 4 inches. It's deceptive. Since the filters are too small for many HVAC systems, they let dirt flow around them into the unit and the air in your home. It doesn't matter what the MERV level you buy since the filter allows air to flow around it. FYI, When I contacted the FilterBuy, their rep said I exceeded the 90-day refund window. When I explained that the filter was undersized, they told me it said the right size on the web site (in small print under actual size). Yep even when you click 20x25x4, you are taken to the undersized filter. When I asked to escalate, they said, “No exceptions.” My HVAC guy said the FilterBuy filter does not fit my HVAC unit and may invalidate the warranty. I'd avoid FilterBuy.

I just received my order

I just received my order. Thank you for delivering so fast. However the quality of the filters is poor. I attached a photo of what I received. Pleats are poorly installed the cardboard is bent and misformed. There is no indication for air flow direction. I stopped ordering from you about a year ago because of these issues I thought you would have worked out these problems out by now, I see you have not

A new customer

What's with all the horrible reviews? I ordered oddly sized air filters and that's what I received. Looking at the reviews I figured my filters would never ship but nope. I got mine in 2 days and they fit perfectly. The fast shipping time was great because im dealing with the texas heat right now. Will buy more soon.

Filters aren't standard size - they claim I should've measured better

They have a page claiming they're better than Honeywell. (You'll have to go to the website - I can't link here.) Then they claim that I should've measured better. Can't record their chat. They won't refund money because outside of 90-day return. Their filters aren't even close in measurement to a standard 16x25x4. Chat "cuts out" (I'm pretty sure it's a bot); keep asking "if I'm still there" when I've asked several questions -- it's the chat equivalent of "can't hear you driving into a tunnel." It's a scam. Avoid. We're disputing with our credit card company. Who wants a box of four useless filters?

DO NOT BUY FROM FILTERBUY

DO NOT BUY FROM FILTERBUY! Placed order-was never shipped nor received. Ordered replacement, same thing-never shipped nor received. Called Filterbuy directly and their solution was simply cancelling the replacement order. No attempt to correct the problem or retain me as a customer. I got the impression that they don't care.

Hi Bill, I was able to look up your order info. It seems the first package did have a delivery delay to which we went ahead and did the replacement order for you and cancelled the first one. We do not show any cancelation of the replacement order, but we did refund you the full amount and the package was delivered to you on April 7th. We have a copy of the photo of the package at your front door from Fedex. We hope that you are satisfied with the products and the refund ,

THESE are NOT sized as you hope

I wish I could give them ZERO stars! THESE are NOT sized as you hope. I bought 4 16 x 20 x 4 and they are not that size, but rather smaller! They do not fit my filter space and keep falling down. What good is a MERV 13 lifter if dust can float around it? They would not take them back unless I paid postage- for the size of the box it was prohibitive. NEVER AGAIN and I intend to spread the word!!!

At Filterbuy we absolutely offer a free exchange. Under every product we offer, there is a product description that shares actual size, we also offer an entire section on how to size your filters as well as info on actual size vs nominal. If we send the product, you ordered, we do not offer free returns or refunds, however we do offer an exchange. We can look into the transcripts of your interaction with customer service to make sure this was discussed. If you would like to exchange those we most certainly still can. Please email me at [email protected] In the meantime, here is a blurb from our website that discuss sizing and actual vs. nominal size. What Size Filter Do I Need? When replacing your air filter, most people will find the nominal size or dimensions located on the edge of your current air filter. If you don’t have the previous filter handy, you’ll need to measure your intake vent for the actual size of your air filter. "Nominal" refers to the product sizing chart that fits into your intake vent. "Actual" size refers to the true measurements of your air filter dimensions, which will be slightly smaller than the intake vent dimensions. When searching for a 16x25x1 air filter, for example, you’ll likely see 15.5" x 24.5" x .75" listed. Nearly all AC filters go by the nominal size, which is the actual size rounded up to the nearest inch. Quick Measuring for Replacement Filter Size Using a tape measure, get the length, width, and depth of your filter slot. The length and width dimensions are interchangeable, though conventionally the first number is the smaller of the two. For the depth measurement, standard filters are nominally 1” (actual 0.75”), 2” (actual 1.75”), and 4” (actual 3.75”) deep.

Good experience all around

1 - Ordering and fulfillment - excellent. Product went out same day and was delivered next day (I'm just one state away). 2 - Customer service - excellent. Fedex mis-delivered to some place I still don't know where - nothing recognizable in Fedex's photo. Constance researched while I was on the phone, shipped out again within an hour or two, and replacement shipment arrived next day. (This Fedex driver must have had a GPS.) 3 - Size of product. I read the complaints before I ordered. The complaints don't seem valid. First, the actual size is plainly stated. Second, before I ordered I measured one of the 12x12x1 filters I already had (different brand) and IT TOO was 11.75x11.75x0.75, so this seems to be a standard. Maybe not the universal standard, but filters fit the duct opening just fine.

Thank you for the excellent review ! We are happy to have you in our Filterbuy family!

Buyer Beware!

Do not order from this company! The filters that they send are NOT the correct size. They have these made to sub-size specs so if it says 13" it could be 12, 12.5 14...then you get it, does not fit, YOU pay to return the filters, oh but only if you have not taken the plastic off. Sure they will be glad to exchange but you have to pay first for the filter you should have gotten and you have to pay to return the one that does not fit, that is only if you have not taken the plastic off! TERRIBLE COMPANY!

Say "bye" to Filterbuy.com

Filterbuy.com filters are not true to size. 23 x 20 x 1, is actually 22.5 x 19.5 x 1. The larger size is in LARGE print on website. Smaller size/disclaimer is in small print. They will not replace filters when they don't fit. Been buying for this air handler for 6 years. This is the first company that sent a filter that did not fit and won't make things right. Buy Filtrete instead!

Hi James , I am sorry that your product did not fit. We have many sections on our website that assist people with finding the proper sizing. We do offer a free exchange when the error is on measurement. Did you take advantage of that offer? We do not offer free return labels due to sizing error but absolutely free exchange. If you would like to go ahead and do that I can assist. Please email me at [email protected] . In the meantime, direct from our website is a blurb regarding sizing. I hope this helps for the future!
