Pass Them By

There's an old saying that refers to buying a horse that goes "One white foot, buy him; Two white feet, try him; Three white feet, be on the sly; Four white feet, pass him by." This is a superstition, but it holds here. Give GoSoftwarebuy a miss. At best, they are inept. At worst, they're running a scam. OR they have employees who are less than honest. I suspect that many of their five-star reviews are bots because so many of their negative reviews tell the same story: bought the software, couldn't get it to work, and couldn't get a refund. I purchased Office 2024 from GoSoftwareBuy in March 2026. After removing all artifacts of the previous version of Office, including running the command prompt (not a novice), I attempted to install the new version. After three attempts, the download they provided installed, but it treated it as Office 2021, and the 2024 license wouldn't work. I reached out via email asking for help. A few minutes later, my phone rang, and the caller ID showed EHB Financial. I ignored it. I then received an email telling me they'd called. I called them back and spoke briefly with a young man with a heavy accent. It is not his fault I have trouble hearing, and I struggled to understand him. He was overruled by another CSA, who told him he'd call me back. He said he wanted remote access to my computer and sent me a link that I ignored. Now put yourself in my shoes — a man with a heavy accent from a company that doesn't show up on my caller ID as a match wanted access to my computer? How foolish would I have to be to allow this? I rushed him off the phone. I sent them an email requesting a refund. They replied that they couldn't provide me with one, but could offer 50% back. If they can provide 50% back for inoperable software, they can provide a full refund, I said. They did not reply. I threatened to both report them to Microsoft and go to my bank and get a refund based on inoperable software. After I sent this email, my internet connection began dropping and reconnecting. It did this several times before I disconnected from the internet for several hours. Late that night, they finally emailed me back, stating that they would refund the money in full. Addendum: A month later, after receiving several notifications that someone was trying to log in to my Amazon account, I changed my password. The login attempts continued. My computer had been acting oddly for a few days, but until this, I didn't give it much thought. I mentioned it to my son, who is a computer security specialist. He advised me to check my computer for unknown accounts. I discovered two user accounts that didn't belong to me. I fixed it, beefed up my security with another professional who oversees my backup system. He advised that I put all my personal information under LifeLock, which I did. I do not know whether this was a coincidence, but it is worth noting. None of these headaches was worth discounted software.

This is the most customer service…

This is the most customer service friendly I have ever encountered. I purchased a software from them and was having difficulties with the installation. I texted them with my problem and within less than 24 hrs responded and performed a remote install on my computer. That was very impactful to me and will recommend them to all my friends and families.
