We had a great trip using Great Value Vacations. This was our first time booking through them but will not be the last. All hotels were nice and clean and were something I would have booked for myself. The hotel in Venice and Florence were directly across from either the train or tram so it made getting to the city centers easy. The metro in Rome was .7 of a mile from hotel, that would be my only complaint. We already walked so much through Rome and then adding that hike back and forth was exhausting! Overall though, it was a great experience!

Outstanding (relatively) short vacation on the Emerald Isle! This was a return trip to Ireland, and our first trip to Northern Ireland, for us. The 2 day Dublin City Pass, as well as the full day Giant's Causeway excursion from Belfast, were great; so was the roundtrip train travel. We added other Get Your Guide activities including walking food tours in both Dublin and Belfast, a Belfast black taxi tour and the Titanic museum activity (also in Belfast).

Enjoyable Trip
Iceland was wonderful. The hotels were all good. The car from Hertz was big enough for all four of us and our luggage. Would have given a 5, but we had 2 hotels within 13 miles of each other. We never stayed in Laugarvatn as the itinerary stated, so we missed the Geothermal Bread-Baking Experience. In addition, the information did not state what car company our rental was from, so 6 am in the mad rush of passengers in rental lines, we were trying to get a hold of someone to help us.

Had such a great experience
Had such a great experience, we absolutely loved the itinerary we had through Southern Ireland. We hit some of the best spas and stops along our way. Very relaxed and loved traveling at our own pace with the car!

VERY disappointing! No drawers (we had to live out of our suitcases -- and only one luggage rack; my sister had to live out of her suitcase off the floor). Only ONE HandTowel. NO wash cloths (I had to take a cloth napkin from a specialty restaurant). Some staff were very nice, friendly and accommodating -- and some were the extreme opposite.

Wash cloths are not common in the Dominican Republic and are generally not provided in hotels or resorts. With that aside, we hope the Front Desk was able to accommodate you with more towels when needed.

Flights, hotels and 1 activity per city was reserved for our trip. Communication was clear and timely. This type of trip allowed us flexibility in planning our days and seeing sites on our timeline.

What went wrong:
Our scheduling was way off so we made our own personal changes at our own expense. It was set up so that we arrived in alijo on June 17th around 4pm only to have to check
Out and return with our train voucher the next morning at approx 8am. That sounded awful so we changed last minute and just stayed in Porto at same hotel and paid for that night. Then for Porto we were scheduled to check out at noon from log hotel on June 19 and transfers to the airport Sometime on the 19th . However our flight was at 5am on the 20th.
This was all so confusing and not done well at all. I would expect compensation for the hotel night we paid for . We submitted a request and hope to hear back.
What was right:
Lisbon and Porto were lovely and the hotels were nice . Transport on the train from
Lisbon to Porto was pretty easy. The river tour in Porto was beautiful . The wine tasting was ok and a little ways away but good.

It was great to have everything planned…

I loved that fact that this was a self guided tour of Central Europe, so I was able to book tours on my own to see the sites that I deemed not to be missed. Unfortunately because the trains between countries was always in the early afternoon our travel days were sort of wasted as we couldn't do too much after checking out and we arrived at the next destination around dinner time. I would have preferred to take an earlier train.

The two resorts were great, the day to get there and return were long, why not a direct flight from YYZ to Hawaii? It wasn’t clear that we were responsible for our airport transportation to the resorts and back. That was very expensive. For that price it should be included. Travelers should be made aware of the high cost of groceries and restaurants, especially Kona where you are isolated. Tha salt water lagoons were both cloudy and not good for snorkeling.

Great Value Vacations 12 days, 3 countries in Europe.
Great value vacations planned this trip with great hotels ( except for Rome Villa Gloria it was small and our room was around the corner from reception. Everyone else was upstairs with views). The breakfast buffet at all three hotels was excellent and delicious. The airlines were great except Lufthansa their seats are small and close together so pay for your seats one at window and one at isle. The plane was not full. Transportation was well organized except the driver that picked us up at Rome’s airport, he dropped us off across the street from our hotel and we had to walk up and down the street to find it. Exploring three countries was fabulous but very exhausting and not really enough days!! It takes so long to figure out were everything is located. Especially the hop on hop off bus stops. They are not near hotels. Lots and lots of walking. With this package there’s only three full days in each country you really need 4 or 5.

Rome and Sorrento. The hotel locations were not convenient. They were far from any restaurants, shops, or historical sites. The package "included" a rental car, but it was almost impossible to park a car in these places. Also, there were hidden costs when getting and dropping off the car! There were many driving restrictions as well.

This was first trip through GVV. I spoke with two different agents during booking and a call back to correct their typo in passenger last name. Both were friendly and capable. The package was well-planned, and all elements came out as promised, including room upgrade "on arrival." I would rather have that confirmed in writing before leaving home, but it worked out okay. One thing I would really like to have seen is better information regarding the entry-to-Mexico documentation process. Online, it described a new electronic "tourist card" to complete, but in person at Cancun airport there was nothing but a quick stamp in my passport. That's it. Nothing to download, print or carry with you until return flight. GVV could provide a better explanation of what to expect.
