I called about a move from Georgia to Alabama and spoke with a rep from their company. He asked me all of the general information as in how many boxes we would be moving, furniture etc. He then proceeded to give me a rundown about how someone just cancelled and they would be able to give me a great deal because my mother is a senior. He quoted me at around $3,500.00 for a 2.5 hour move. I explained that this was far too much being as though I had just moved from Arizona to Georgia for $3,000.00 so his figure made 0 sense. He then proceeded to call me stupid and said I was the dumbest person he had ever spoken to if I thought I was going to get a move for that price. Don't EVER in life use this company!!! They are obviously trying to scam people.
Totally unethical and using classic bait and switch scam tactics to artificially provide a low initial quote (the bait), only to purposely get you past the 3 day cancellation period. They will then call you a few day before the move to do another over the phone "inventory" (its just for show) to then double or more the cost of your move (the switch). If you do your research there are tons of reviews online that back this up. There is a whole facebook group of people scammed by them. They are also under federal investigation for fraud and unethical business practices by a 3 letter federal agency you have all heard of. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE US THIS MOVING BROKER!
A below average moving experience, packed all my item with low quality box, didn't felt like they care about items. Only positive side was they delivered my item quickly.
Though the moving experience is real good, but their after sell support seems real bad. Almost no response at all.
I got the name of this company from Consumer Reports—and I can’t say why they are listed as a top choice. I was just wanting a quote for a move and they won’t provide one until you speak to a representative. I called and the man I spoke to is one of the rudest customer service agents I have ever dealt with. When I asked how long the “deal” would be good for he started lecturing me about how people reserve movers months in advance and that I was only giving 2 weeks notice (actually almost a month) and that I needed to book now. I finally said to not have anyone from the company contact me and hung up as he was laughing at me for trying to get quotes on a fast move. Wow! Now that I have read reviews I am so glad he was rude so we don’t get scammed.
Where do I even start? The agent strong-armed me into booking “right now” with a bullshit 7–10-day delivery promise. I never agreed to any fine print about a “10–14 day” window starting from some phantom “first available date.” Spoiler: that’s not from pickup—it’s from some random date they choose. Once they’ve got your stuff, they vanish. Claim they’re “just brokers” and the carrier can take up to 30 business days (that’s literally two months—excluding weekends and holidays!) to show up. Tracking? Don’t make me laugh. You’re flying blind. Three weeks in, I finally get a call: “Oh, you’ll have your boxes in 2–3 days.” Great news, right? On day three, I ring back—customer “care” snarls that I need to wait another 4–7 days, “it’s still in transit.” No apology, no explanation, just shifting timelines and zero accountability. If you enjoy being lied to, ignored, and living without your belongings for 60+ days, by all means book Amerisafe. If you’d rather actually have your things when you move, run—don’t walk—from this circus.
This establishment is a scam. The original quote over $2,000 less than what we needed up paying. It ended up being over $7,000. They wait until the day you move to inform you of these price changes so you are pigeonholed into using them. It’s so last minute that you have no time to get another moving company. The “manager” Mike Scott may be the rudest person I’ve ever encountered. He also is a bully and uses scare tactics to make the sale. On top of all of this, the movers didn’t even get all of our belongings! We had to rent a U-Haul trailer and pack our vehicles to the max just to move the rest of our stuff. The movers left in such a hurry after drop off and wouldn’t allow us to look inside the back of the truck. Of course, now we have realized we are missing items. Avoid this company at all costs!
I thought the moving company is efficient and reliable, but I was slightly wrong. Though the workers were humble and professional, but the company has management issue, the upper chair holders are failed to managed the crew.
Amerisafe is NOT a company to use. When my house went under contract on 2/17/2025 I thought I would be moving from Colorado to North Carolina; my realtor explained that "time was of the essence" and recommended Amerisafe because she said they were the "cheapest." I called Amerisafe and the salesperson, Justin Alvarez, said they could give me a quote over the phone based on the photos of my home on the home sale web site. They said this was how they determined moving costs. The quote they provided seemed reasonable and I said I would call back once the home inspection was done and the sale completely finalized. The sales person said I could not "lock in" the quoted "discounted" priced unless I placed a deposit that day. He told me I would have 78 hours (3.5 days) before my move out date of March 24th to cancel the contract. I put a deposit of $3,453.85 on my Costco CitiBank Card and was assured that my deposit would be refunded if the move did not occur. The home purchase contract fell through on February 22, 2025 and I immediately called Justin to inform him and to request the refund on my deposit of $3,453.85. Justin was not in and I spoke to his "associate" who said he was Justin's room-mate, and would have Justin call me back. Over a 48 hour period I called several times to leave a message with no response. I called Amerisafe again and was referred to a "supervisor" named Kris Bane. He told me that I would NOT be refunded my deposit as I did not call within 72 hours of the contract date of February 20th. I reiterated what Justin had told me, reminded him that I had called immediately after the contract fell through and also that I DID NOT YET RECEIVE A PURCHASE AGREEMENT and that I HAD NOT SIGNED ANY PURCHASE AGREEMENT! Also, since Amerisafe had a recording that said all "conversations are recorded for quality control" he could check my conversation with Justin Alvarez to document the transaction. He yelled and said "WE JUST SAY THAT - WE DON'T RECORD CONVERSATIONS." Then he threatened me, saying that he'd be willing to refund $750.00 of the $3,453.85 as long as I didn't file a complaint with CitiBank, but if I did dispute the charge he would personally make sure that I did not get a refund and then said "We always win." I filed a dispute with CitiBank immediately. On April 14th CitiBank said that since I had moved I had to pay. HOWEVER I DID NOT MOVE!! I took my house off the market and am still at the same address. So I filed another dispute with CitiBank. This time I was told to write a another letter with documentation and send it Certified to the CitiBank Dispute Department. I did and yesterday, June 25, 2025 I received a letter from CitiBank saying that Amerisafe will NOT honor the request from CitiBank for a credit and cannot receive compensation from the merchant, therefore I must pay FOR SERVICES NEVER RECEIVED and those fees will include interest. I have filed a Fraud report and am continuing with the Billing Disputes Department at CitiBank.
Literally I recommended my friends to go with them for their relocating process, but I tried to contract them so that my friend can start that process, but I mailed them twice and called them many times but no response at all.
We contacted Amerisafe for a one bedroom move. All items for move were given to sales person with deminsions. Quote was given but when the movers came they quoted a price twice as much. Amerisafe was contacted to discuss this to no avail. They just keep adding on charged! The items did arrive within two days of selected delivery date but yet again another fee wanted to be charged. Amerisafe did say they would credit us 100.00 for a fee they had charged but they didn’t even do that. DONT USE! Bate and switch tatctics were used to get sale. How sad that people do business like this!
The service felt hurried and disorganised, although they aren't really unpleasant. It was an unpleasant experience due to lack of professionalism and inadequate time management.
The company brought a really small truck to collect my item so they needed to come back the next day to pick up the remained items.
The moving process turned into a mess...I felt really disappointed. Everything they did wasn't clean and complete. The mover were polite though but their manage got a problem for sure!
The moving process went kind of disgusting, the workers arrived late, broke few items. The unloading process was felt like a hassle.
I am disappointed at them, it took about 1 months to ship all the items at my place. I was told, it can take about 15-20 days maximum. But, one month is too much time.
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Amerisafe Moving Services. While the movers themselves were nice and courteous, the overall service was disorganized and frustrating. The crew arrived late to bring my household items, and the car transportation came a day early leaving me having to rent a car a day early (more money I should have not had to pay) Most upsetting of all — I lost over $1,000 worth of furniture because my inventory was not properly updated by the company. While the movers were at my house, I even called Amerisafe Moving Services directly to try to resolve the issue regarding the amount of space left on the truck, just so I could keep my furniture. The representative admitted they had failed to update my inventory list, and as a result, the truck didn’t have enough space to load everything. In addition to the lost items, both my vehicles and some of my belongings were damaged during the move. Despite multiple attempts to contact customer service, no one at the company wants to take accountability for the lost furniture or the damage. I’ve had to spend a large amount of money trying to replace what they failed to bring — money I never should’ve had to spend. This experience was beyond frustrating. I chose this company expecting professionalism and care, and instead I was met with negligence and a complete lack of responsibility. I would absolutely not recommend Amerisafe Moving Services. If you value your property, your time, and your peace of mind — look elsewhere.
TL;DR get labor-only movers and a U-haul if you see this in time. After calling around to a few different moving companies and getting outrageously expensive (to me, at least) quotes, I found Amerisafe. I spoke to one of their salesmen who was professional and helpful. What stuck with me was how he said, "I'm sure you want this to be the last call you have to make, so I'll see how close we can get to the price you're looking for." I told him my budget, and he worked with me until we came to a number that sounded reasonable--i.e., giving a discount for having my own TV box and mattress bag, and another discount for being flexible on the exact date, etc. It seemed like a very thorough, informative call. I looked over the quote sheet, which reflected the number he told me. And then I made a mistake: I paid a 33% deposit before looking up the reviews online, something I make a point to never do. I'm not sure what it was about this time--this sales guy was good, that's all I can say. He told me as long as there wasn't a grand piano or something like that I hadn't mentioned, everything would go smoothly. I got off the call feeling like a weight had been lifted off. Fast forward to yesterday, 2 days before the move. I got a call from "Quality Assurance" and was asked to go over my items again. I quickly realized the original sales guy had not included an exhaustive list of my things in my quote, and by the end of that call the price had nearly doubled. For reference, we added my bed frame, a couple of living room chairs, and a cat tree. Boom, price doubled. I told the guy the new price completely changed things for me, and that honestly I felt like I'd been scammed, since the deposit was also non-refundable. He said he understood and he would talk to his managers. I did see they had taken a little bit off of the updated quote as a "manager's discount," but my trust in the company was gone. What was stopping them from just adding another $1000 if none of these quotes were binding? That was when I started looking around online and realized Amerisafe is famous for holding people's things hostage, jacking prices way up at the last second (when it's "too late" to hire other movers), and adding on surprise fees. My favorite is the Facebook group specifically for people who have been scammed by this company. So I had to choose: walk away and lose my 33% deposit, or stick with them, pay WAY more, and hope they don't continue to add on crazy amounts of money. The latter felt too risky to me, so I went with the former. They did agree to refund me a small portion of my deposit...in exchange for agreeing in writing not to sue. That's a good sign, right?
The terms and condition wasn't perfectly clear, so I mailed them to get more details. I got the reply of my mail in 3 days. Then the come on the contracted day and packed everything and loaded the. It took about a week to arrived. It was not long distance. But seven working days for that nearly distance a huge time.
