Terrible First Purchase Experience
Terrible first purchase experience. I purchased a specific collectible from Pristine Auction and received a completely different item. I contacted them immediately, only to find out that the item I actually purchased is no longer available to be sent to me. What is most disappointing is how they have handled their mistake. The solutions offered either require me to keep an item I never purchased for a small credit, or return the incorrect item for a refund while still leaving me out of pocket for the customs/duties I paid. This was not buyer's remorse, a shipping delay, or a disagreement over condition. Pristine Auction sent me the wrong item and cannot provide the item I purchased. I simply asked to be made financially whole for their error, and they have been unwilling to do that. This was my first purchase with Pristine Auction, and based on how they handled a straightforward fulfillment mistake, I would not purchase from them again. Update: Thank you for responding. However, this leaves out the reason I declined the two options offered. I purchased a specific collectible shown in your auction listing. Pristine Auction sent me a different collectible, and you have confirmed that the item I actually purchased is no longer available. The two resolutions offered do not make me financially whole: If I return the incorrect item, I receive the invoice amount back but remain out approximately C$20 in customs/duties that I paid solely because Pristine Auction shipped me the wrong item. If I keep the incorrect item, I receive only a small credit toward an item I did not purchase. I understand that Pristine Auction did not collect the customs/duties. That is not the issue. I paid those costs as a direct result of an acknowledged fulfillment error by Pristine Auction. I also disagree with characterizing the item as essentially the same because it has the same signer but a different payee. This is a unique historical collectible. I purchased the specific Maurice Richard cheque pictured and described in the auction, not simply any cheque signed by Maurice Richard. I am not asking for anything beyond being put back in the financial position I was in before this error occurred. I do not believe a customer should lose money because a seller shipped the wrong unique collectible and can no longer provide the item that was purchased. I would still be happy to resolve this if Pristine Auction provides a prepaid return label, refunds my purchase in full, and reimburses the approximately C$20 in customs/duties I incurred as a result of the incorrect shipment.

In our previous communications, we offered two distinct resolutions to resolve this error: Full Refund upon Return: You may return the incorrect item for a full refund of the invoice amount. Keep the Item with Store Credit: Since the item received features the same signor and item as your original order, with a different payee, you may keep the item, and we will issue a credit to your account. We understand you have declined both options. While we recognize your disappointment regarding the customs and duties fees paid on international delivery, our policy covers the full invoice amount only for returns. We will not refund monies that are not collect/paid to us. We remain committed to resolving this for you. Should you decide to accept either the full invoice refund upon returning the item or the partial credit to keep it, please let us know so we can immediately process your request and provide a prepaid return label if needed.
