What people say

My first experience with Springleaf was great. This time, not so much...

I'm going to be honest here. The first time my husband and I dealt with Springleaf, I had no issues. They were patient, kind and more than happy to answer any questions I had not to mention their customer service was on point. This second time around, not so much. I had been receiving numerous letters in the mail about renewing my loan and how much I could renew for. I finally decided to look into it, after all a little extra money couldn't hurt. I had such a great experience the first time, I had no doubt I would receive it again. I was wrong. I tried numerous times to get in touch with my branch here in Fort Worth but had no success. I left multiple voice mails asking to return my call. When I finally reached someone (Paula), I was asked if they could "call me right back", that she was with a customer. 3.5 hours went by so I reached out to them again and got no answer. I allowed a few more hours to go by and tried yet again. I managed to reach Albert, who proceeded to tell me that Paula was the one I needed to speak to and that she was currently out to lunch. He told me that he would have her give me a call. I told him, "no disrespect intended but I have been trying to speak to someone about my loan renewal for 2 weeks now and still have yet to get the information I needed, that I did not want a callback, that I was just going to leave work early and come speak to someone in person because I didn't trust their word that I would get a callback." After I leave work early with the intention of speaking to someone face-to-face, THEN I receive a callback from Paula. I explain to her my frustrations about the customer service I was receiving from them and let her know that I was not happy. She apologized and said they were short-handed and down to 2 people. I informed her that if that had been explained to me in the first place, I wouldn't have become so upset because I work in customer service, I get how it can be. She proceeded to gather all my info and told me she would submit it to the underwriters, promising that I would receive a call back no later than yesterday. Upon receiving the call yesterday, I called the office right back. It rang and rang and went to VM. I left a message and repeated the process several times....no callback. I proceeded to call the branch again today and finally got ahold of Paula, who then placed me on hold. She came back on the line and told me that my renewal application had been declined and that they needed me to put my car up for collateral if I wanted to go through with the renewal. I told her "no thank you" and asked her to please remove me from their mailing list and to please stop sending me offers if they couldn't follow through. Such a BIG difference from the first experience I had with Springleaf. I wasted 2 weeks of my time trying to inquire about the renewal process. Terrible customer service and equally terrible communication skills. My husband wanted to look into another debt consolidation loan, for himself, because we had had such a great experience the first time. However, once this loan we have is paid off, I will NOT be continuing my business with Springleaf. Thanks. Wendy Ball (Flippin)

The way to go

I recieve a loan application from springleaf and filled it out late that afternoon, and the next day I got a call from one of their agents. He asked me few questions and within minuets he was able to approve my loan application over the phone. I was surprise that something that important to me and my family was such an easy process. We set a day to meet and I got the loan that we applied for that same day. Springleaf made everything seem so simple, they stick to there word and I will certainly stick to mine. I will encourage anyone and everyone to apply it is just that easy. And it's the way to go.

Approval amounts and interest way off from quotes

The phone reps are nice when talking to hem but very misleading. They tell you that you are approved for the full amount and tell you to fill out paperwork before they go further. Luckily I don't sign things until I know all of the details. Requested 8k for debt consolidation they counter with 3 and a 34% interest rate. That is is a bit ridiculous. My credit isn't the best due to high credit card balances but that is it I have been on time with my payments. Underwriters have the capabilities to bypass certain things and in my case that wasn't even considered. These lending companies are looking to make bank off your interest the best thing you can do Is go to a credit union and get the personal loan they won't gouge you on interest and will take care of you

PREDATORY LENDERS - AVOID THESES PEOPLE AT ALL COSTS

Avoid this company like the plague! I borrowed $5k. The interest rate on the surface is reported as 24.50%. However if I carry the loan out through its 4yr term, I will end up paying back (are you ready for this?)....... $11,265.19!!!!!! Do the math. That is a heck of a lot more than 24.50%. Teresa the Springleaf officer "conveniently" neglected to go over that little detail during the paper signing process. As a result, I am going to go on every review site I can find and warn the world about this unscrupulous company.

Interest rates

I have been with spring leaf now for several years and have never missed a payment. I have taken several loans, but they are still only offering a 35% interest rate. I seriously doubt if I take any more loans with them. My income is well over 100k a year, but I receive no incentive to take anymore loans with them.

Quick and easy loans

My wife and I was very pleased with our experience with Springleaf. It was quick and easy once we got to the office we were in and out in about 10 minutes.I would advise anyone in need of a loan at reasonable rates to use Springleaf.

Fast & Easy!!!

This is my 3rd loan with this company, my approval always comes through within 24-48 hours and my closing always takes less than a hour. Both my loan officers were always professional and courteous! The monthly payments are super affordable. What I like most about this company is that it recognizes the customers who make on time payments with rewards such as products, gift cards etc. A little personal touch is that when you arrive you are offered a cold/hot drink and a snack, which is nice especially if you are coming straight from work.

So far so good

Aside from the hidden fees/plans they slide in & high interest rate... Springleaf is a fairly good company to get a lisn from. With that being said... I LIKE THEM!!! They helped me out of a tight bind.

Never Again!

Very rude and aggressive (especially in NM)! I will never go through this company again for a loan, and a high interest/predatory loan at that! If you must, use them as a LAST resort!

With I can do zero stars !

Company will lie to you about your percentage interest. Switch your co borrower and borrower to rape you in interest. Would never refer any one to this company

Super helpful, answered all questions we had and knew his job.

I would recommend springleaf to anyone that may be interested in getting a loan. They are very knowledgeable and not pushy to sell you everything, just what you want. I appreciate there help and look forward to working with them in the future as well as I have in the past. Keep up the good work!!!

excellant professional service

It is not easy to have to ask for a loan, but with the professional service I received when asking for help, it became much easier. And during the process the agents were exceptionally courteious and comforting. Karen in the South Elgin, Il office went above and beyond to help. Phone calls were always returned in a timely manner. I would recommend Springleaf and that office to friends and family.

always there

I have been using springleaf for loans for years, its a no hassle easy way to borrow some money when you need it. My loan branch in rock hill sc is the absolute best and friendliest...I have dealt with Beverley there for over 8 years....

Very professional and extremely able to handle our situation.

We can't begin to thank all the people that were involved in our loan redo, and the professionalism that was displayed in getting it done in a minimal amount of time. Thank you to Jamie and the entire staff at the Alcoa branch for helping us navigate the hurdles and to be prepared when we came into the office to sign the papers. We appreciate all of you for your great customer service and be assured that we will gladly recommend Springleaf to anyone in need of their professional services!

Easy to work with.

I have dealt with Springleaf in Wheelersburg Ohio for several years now. Chad and Angie are easy to talk to and easy to work with. They will do everything they can to help someone with whatever their needs are. I would recommend this branch to anyone.

Misleading

Applied for a loan told them that I use to be self-employed sent over the requested tax information they requested. Received a call back stating that I didn't make enough money, explained to the rep that i am no longer self-employed that I make about 15k before taxes after taxes 11k, stated i still didn't make enough money. I have no debt was trying to secure the loan to establish credit. I would not use them or recommend them to anyone. It was like they were trying to find reason not to allow me to have the loan. Small lending places were built like this to help the community but this place is not good at all. Thanks for nothing!
