Do not sell with The RealReal

I was contacted by a representative of The RealReal after reaching about selling some items and he was walking me through the process of sending my items and selling them. I'd never sold any of my handbags before and I was nervous, but optimistic. I asked the representative during one of our conversations if I would be notified when the items are listed and if I would be advised what the offer price would be before my items are sold; in case I did not agree with the offer. He told me I would be notified and that I would know ahead of time the offer to give me a chance to accept it, so I was fine with The RealReal listing the items for me. I felt confident in The RealReal to sell a Louis Vuitton Speedy 40 ( it came with the original dust bag, original box, lock, keys and receipt. Also attempted to sell a Gucci Pouch with all original dust bag and original box and packaging. Both had only been used maybe less than 5 times each if that. I kept them stored in the dust bag each one came with and in its individual boxes, I gently used them when I did carry them. I only attempted selling them because I rarely used them and thought for the right price. I'd sell them. Both items were sent in confidence to The RealReal. So once I sent them. I would check the site diligently to see when or if they had posted and if I got an offer. And finally it showed both items posted, but there was an issue with the size of the LV, it was listed as a Speedy 35, however it was a Speedy 40. I quickly reached back out to get this fixed and before they fixed the issue of the size being wrong. The bag showed that it was Sold within the same day it posted and the price they sold it for was not something I would have never agreed to. I quickly contacted the person that I had communicated with and he offered no help, said the item had sold so I couldn't do anything. I was told I had to call customer service. I called them with hopes that maybe if they correct the size I'd be comfortable selling because the price I would think would increase and if not get my bag sent back to me. However since the bag was sold there was nothing that could be done I was told. They would not change the price and said I could not get my bag back. The sad part is that I trusted them; and that was my mistake and I was told that id have a chance to agree to the purchase price and I didn't. They had it in their possession and knew there was nothing I could do, and they mishandled the opportunity to provide great service to a client. If I had not been thousands of miles away and able to get to that company. I would have went in person to get my bag. I lost complete trust in this company and would NEVER recommend The RealReal. I requested by Gucci pouch be sent back to me. I received it back. It clearly had been stuffed with something or something had been done to it, to make the pouch open up more because when I sent it. It was like new; very stiff and barely opened up and when I got it back. It was softer and the sides were bulging outward. I had to place something heavy on each side of the pouch for extended periods of times to make them lay flat again. However it would still bulge out after a while on one side. Because of this company I will never sell through a 3rd party Ever again. Clearly the person who took my bag scouts out the better selections that come in for themselves or someone else and who nows they could do this same thing to other people. It's sad because I had no choice.. and I wanted to sell my bag but..only for the right cost. I made that very clear to the guy who was helping me with this mistake. This company is a rip off and they have not even reached out to try fixing how they ripped me off. I wish it was a great experience but unfortunately this is a true story of mine.

Shipping was a little slow

Shipping was a little slow, and I had to return an item that had defects that were NOT noted. I don’t feel that I should’ve had to pay the return shipping on this item since it was misrepresented. All other items received were good.

I cannot recommend it more to shop at TheRealReal. The prices are extremely fair, everything arrives as described and it is packaged neatly where they also include dust bags. Extremely professional, I love this website!

Need better disclosure or description of imperfections

I like the value offered and have ordered on multiple occasions. I don't like the poor quality images especially for areas with imperfections and damages. I don't like that the description doesn't disclose where the damaged areas are. Would make the purchase feel good, even with damages/imperfections if that was disclosed better.

I love that I got a vintage bag at a…

I love that I got a vintage bag at a decent price. Though, I wish some of the pictures were more clear for fine detail scratches or scuffs that aren't always visible or clear if it's a "camera glare" versus a "white mark" for example - especially on black patent leather, which is what my bag was. Otherwise, I love that the bag came clean and in the great condition described and with a dustbag from the Real Real, including a card inside. I thought that was a nice touch!
