A Painful and Abrupt End to Therapy
I sought therapy because I had been struggling for a long time with feelings of rejection, abandonment and believing there was something wrong with me. I was looking for a safe place to work through those experiences and begin to heal.
Unfortunately, my experience left me feeling hurt, confused, and abandoned.
After discussing that I was coming off medication under the care of my psychiatrist, my therapy was ended very abruptly. My final session was cut short, and I don't believe I should have been charged for a session that ended so unexpectedly. I left feeling like I had spent a significant amount of money on therapy only for it to end without the care and closure I expected.
What made this even more confusing was that, only a few weeks earlier, I had been told, "Let's take things slow." The week before my final session, I had also been given homework. Completing that homework was a big step for me, but it was never discussed because the therapy ended so suddenly.
The way my therapy ended reopened the very wounds I had come to therapy to address. Since then, I have experienced increased feelings of rejection, nightmares, and insomnia. I appreciate that every client's experience is different, but this has been mine.
I understand that therapists may decide a therapeutic relationship should end or that another approach is more appropriate. However, I expected clear communication, compassion, and a planned ending that allowed me to process what was happening. Instead, I left feeling rejected, confused, and without any meaningful closure.
This review reflects my personal experience, and I hope the practice considers how profoundly the ending of therapy can affect clients who are already vulnerable.

My first experience with BetterHELP was…
My first experience with BetterHELP was terrible.
My therapist was late to session OK that happens but after we started she acutally talkedto her son once we were in live session. Clearly a HIPPA violation. Her internet connection was so bad she turned it off. In the middle of our session it again sounded like she was talking to someone else. I called her out of it and asked if I had her full attention,
Very bad experience I asked Better Help to fire her due to HIPPA violation.
DO NOT use DT in Spooner WI as your therapist if they do not fire her.
Will give it one more try.
no wonder folks quit therapy.

Get the help you deserve
Using BetterHelp to better myself was the greatest decision I could make. It’s like gifting yourself a infinite birthday or Christmas present being able to get things off your chest things that way your shoulders down and to talk about it with someone in a judge free zone really makes you feel better and you can open up more about yourself and find out who you really are find out more about yourself during your therapy sessions. I’m forever grateful for taking the time to get the help that I needed and I’m grateful that better help was my first option and I highly recommend recommended to everyone and anyone who needs help.
I liked how you were given the option to change therapist if one doesn’t work well with you or you don’t feel connected.
I also like that it’s international, however, there are some places that they need to include, which is why I docked one star. I had to cancel my membership due to them not able to send a verification code to my phone number because my country is not in their system yet.
But other than that, it was a great service and a good bang for your buck.

Worst experience
I would give BetterHelp a 0, if I could. Worst experience I’ve ever had with a therapist and I’ve had some bad ones. I was matched with a very close minded, judgmental and overall miserable old lady. She had very strong opinions about my past/current choices and made sure to let me know, even though I never asked. She was very disrespectful, rude and assumed she knew everything about me after talking for a few minutes. She looked nothing like her picture either. I don’t know where they find these people but she should NOT be a therapist. I was so upset I cried after the session. A huge waste of my time and money. I will never recommend this app but I will make sure to let anyone know to not use their services.

They make it very simple and easy. Your in control of the therapy you feel comfortable with. Its not intimidating at all.
This is the third time that my husband, my son, and I have met with our therapist over a video call. She is noticably very attentive, and with many questions she has helped us work through our areas of concern. My only regret is that we did not start sooner!

Would highly recommend BetterHelp
I love the flexibility that BetterHelp has to offer. When I first started using their service I had a therapist that I really liked but she left the business for personal reasons so I had to find another one. The first replacement I had I didn’t really feel like I connected with them and just didn’t feel that comfortable with them. Getting a different one was super easy and the one I have now I’ve had for a couple of years and I LOVE her! There are two things I really like about BetterHelp are 1) The flexibility of being able to work around my schedule to get appointments that fit my crazy busy life and 2) The ease in which I could try different therapists until I found one that I connected with. It has made the world of difference in my mental health.

I went through a detailed and personal initial process, including a fairly extensive written description of highly personal information only to find that their “insurance accepted” is a misnomer— the list is quite limited. I clicked on “show me my discount” to pay out of pocket, but their system canceled me out anyway. They just made a highly uncomfortable process worse.
