What people say

Nothing more than a vanity project

Was part of the Beta program for a new app. Despite voicing my concerns along with a lot of other folk, nothing was ever done and problems were never fixed. Eventually left the beta program as it was unusable and they had not repaired it in over 6 weeks rendering me unable to purchase items. I told them why I was leaving and went back to the stable release. Now we have just had that beta released as stable. Upon logging in I was forced to change my password without any reason as to why. No one is happy about it and it's clear this is nothing more than a vanity project for the owner. Looking at the history of complaints here. This company is never going to change and is never going to listen to the people who use it. I have 2 accounts, one for my business and one for my personal collection. The new format is horrid. If there was a better option, I change to it in a heartbeat.

Once upon a time (8 years & more ago)

Once upon a time (8 years & more ago), Discogs was great - however an absolute frustrating unbearable flawed platform with no customer assistance other than a completely useless user support system (ie; relying on other users to solve problems). AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!

1 star is to much

It don't deserve 1 star it's slow just doesn't respond the old app was better again an app that just doesn't work properly I've closed mine down can't get on with it why dont you leave it alone you just don't get it plenty of other apps to buy music from you have just destroyed yourself

Customer Service is AI

DIscog policy is that once an order is placed and payment is made, the seller is expected to make shipment within 4 business days. This did not happen. When I inquired on shipment date 5 days after order placed, seller responded "thank you". Subsequent inquiry seller said would expedite. DIscog AI/Chatbot inquiries 1058941 and 1060731 resulting in still no action as of 09-27-2025.

**AVOID AT ALL COSTS** THIEVES AND LIARS OPERATING ON THIS SITE! NO BUYER PROTECTION! SUPPORT SYSTEM USELESS!

After placing an order on 28th May, the seller stated he would update the tracking number once the item had been shipped. Having heard nothing by 19th June, I contacted the seller via the messaging system on Discogs for an update, to which he responded by saying he'd sent the item on 28th (No Tracking Number provided) but that due to the volcanic eruption in Flores (which occurred on 17th June) the package had been delayed. He then sent me an email stating he'd been expecting it to be delivered to me that week, that the border was closed and that the post office had returned the package to him! This is three weeks after he supposedly sent it! The post office would not hold on to it for three weeks then return it to him because the border was temporarily closed! His so called proof of shipment was nothing more than a screen shot of the order, likely taken from his phone and NOT proof of shipment! On 24th June I received another email from him stating the border was now open and he would post the package the following day and send me the tracking number. I'd heard nothing again by 10th July so messaged him on Discogs asking for the Tracking Number. He replied on 11th July by giving me the number LX005279066ID. After waiting a few weeks to see if there'd be any progress I again contacted him on 2nd August stating that the number he'd given me was still not recognised by any courier and queried whether the number he'd given me was valid. He replied on 3rd August insisting he'd provided me with the correct tracking number and asked me to wait for an update. On 6th August he stated he'd been in touch with his local post office who informed him the package had made a few stopovers somewhere on the way to my address and that he would have further information from them by 16th August at the latest! By now I'd lost all patience and was completely convinced he was nothing but a THIEF and a LIAR and so contacted support on the Discogs website on 10th August. Their response was to tell me to contact the seller to try and resolve the issue or click on the 'Seller Not Responding' link, which was worse than useless! It wasn't that he wasn't responding, the fact was every time I contacted him he would reply with yet another excuse as to why I had yet to receive my order. ALL LIES! As I'd paid via PayPal, my only option was to open a case with them and so did so the same day. I sent them all the relevant information, stating I'd yet to receive my purchase, BUT BEWARE! They then send it all to the very person you have a dispute with!! I had to escalate the case on 17th August, to which they then gave the seller 10 days to reply. On 27th August the case was closed in my favour as the tracking number given was found to be invalid and I was finally able to receive a refund! It's a disgrace that this individual is still allowed to trade on Discogs, despite proving himself to be a THIEF and a LIAR, so I did a little digging..... After joining Discogs on 22nd November 2016, he applied for an ABN (Australian Business Number) on 02 December 2016 'ABN 15 935 855 862', which was subsequently cancelled on 17th February 2017. No reason is given for the cancellation, but judging by my experience I can only speculate... I must say that the majority of sellers on the Discogs site are honest and I have had many positive transactions, Just BE AWARE that there are some who'll lie through their teeth while taking your money, treat you like a mug and fob you off until you either give up or it's too late to do anything about it. AND the worst thing is discogs support system is useless and not fit for purpose, they have no power and you are effectively left to fend for yourself.....Good luck with that!! At least PayPal have some teeth, but it pays you to keep a record of all correspondence and the dates. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! I initially left a 2 star review due to the fact I've had many positive transactions on Discogs, HOWEVER! To my disgust the very seller who caused me so much aggravation with his LIES and STALLING is still on the site over a month after I won my case against him and 4 months since the original order was placed, being allowed to potentially RIP-OFF some other unsuspecting punter. This to my mind is totally unacceptable and a F**KING DISGRACE!! USELESS!!!!

They withdrew money from my bank…

They withdrew money from my bank account via paypal . I recieved all documents for a successful transaction to the seller, but after a while the seller was claiming that no money has been credited to his bank account. I send him the reciept , i contacted my bank in greece , which also confirmed the transaction, but still neither the seller nor somebody from Discogs or pay pal , replies to my tickets ! They also closed one of my tickets replying something irrelevant to my subject !!!

Terrible first time user experience

I joined Discogs to buy one specific record. While the record archive is incredible, the marketplace itself is terrible compared to other platforms such as ebay. Communication with the seller was via early 1990's email. I couldn't agree a price with the seller but was invoiced anyway and have been given a negative rating. I wonder if I am the only Discogs user to have used it once, bought nothing and got a 100% negative rating.

Various problems

There are a few problems with Discogs. Firstly you have to search hard for a bargain. Most items are overpriced. Secondly they don't do notifications to your inbox so you don’t know if you're required to act on something. Thirdly you can't mark items in a wishlist. Fourthly some of the sellers are pretty nasty, and when you complain the support team does nothing. Not a real good record (excuse the pun).

Common scamming field

Had an account since early 2010s at Discogs. Decided to start sell some of my vast collection of records. After putting it up for sale I almost immediately had a scamming attempt by a very sophisticated phishing site. Had some real hassle to secure things afterwards. The security of the site is not trustworthy and poor response from the moderators, who apparently do not deal with this problem that I learned has been around for long. Avoid!

Always ask for items to be fully checked

Ive used Discogs a number of times as a vinyl buyer. Some experiences are excellent but 2 recent ones are poor. Some of the sellers are over rating their items significantly. One within 2 days I received “NM” (near mint) advertised vinyl that was “fair” at best probably even poor Both sellers agreed to postage paid return but my advice is always double check that the items have been fully inspected before you buy.

Avoid: a scammers paradise.

I decided to sell my old collection of CDs and set myself up as a seller on Discog. As a test I offered my first disc and found myself on the end of a most sophisticated extended scam. The 'buyer' tried to direct me to a phony Discog site where I had to prove my credentials as a seller by entering card details. What is more worrying is that Disogs appear to be not concerned in the slightest. They do not respond to direct mails relying on bots.
