What people say

Good and Bad

Bought a couple of cheap records, never had any issues. My understanding is the way purchases go are based more on how honest the seller is than discogs. They won't step in if any issues arise. I like the library, wantlist and ability to look up separate editions. Couple of complaints though. No way to list items for sale by total order value, which is pretty sad and makes website feel outdated. No point showing a $1 record if shipping is $50. We need a way to order everything by total price. Seems like they don't update the website very often. Would also like to see a dark mode setting for the website, which brings us back to they just don't update the website again. The android app. Oh my god. Just burn it to the ground and start over. Total trash. Don't waste the bandwidth downloading it.

Attention Discogs = mafia

Attention Discogs = mafia. Bizarre. A FUIR!!!!!! Ou alors, si tu aimes le risque... Watch out, Discogs = mafia. Some sellers on the site are fake profiles, like 'valelaz'. You buy from them. They take your money and send you nothing. And when you file a complaint with Discogs, they make promises they never keep. Plus, in my case, my negative review was reused by another user without my knowledge. Weird. TO BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS!!!!!! Or else, if you like living dangerously...

Improvements

Hello Discogs Team, I’d like to suggest an improvement to the messaging system in the app. Currently, in the inbox view, it’s possible to see the seller’s name, which is very helpful. However, when opening the “Send Messages” or conversation view, only my own username is shown, not the seller’s name. It would be much more useful if the seller’s name (or both usernames) were also displayed in the message thread view. This would make it easier to quickly identify older conversations and remember which record or order each chat refers to, especially when managing multiple transactions. This small change would significantly improve usability and save time when searching through past messages. Thank you for considering this improvement. Best regards, Stephan

Discogs circling the drain...sad.

It pains me to write this review, because I have loved discogs for several years, as a buyer, seller, and someone who just enjoys logging my collection. When I started using discogs around 2017/18, it was great for the first couple years. However, they slowly made changes over the years that reduced the quality of user experience. The problems started when they removed their service as a payment processor and pushed everyone to paypal. Inconvenient, but still workable. Then they started having a massive problem with fraudulent listings where thieves would list expensive records for cheap and sell as many as they could before their account would get removed. Another massive problem that has been ongoing for about a year is that sellers will intermittently lose their ability to process refunds. Since the transaction is processed through discogs, sellers cannot issue the refund normally through paypal due to some bug within the discogs system. Sellers simultaneously can't even use the cancellation OR refund feature on discogs order pages. Some orders it works, some it doesnt, no matter how many times you try, and even after trying again days later, it still will not issue the refund to a buyer. This problem is compounded by discogs MISERABLE customer service/ticket response time. It can take over a week to get a response just acknowledging the problem and offering "turn it off and back on" level of solutions. For this specific instance, they told me the only work around was for me to send money to the buyer via Friends & Family, which pulls money from the sellers bank and has 0 protections. They said after sending proof, they would credit my account. This is unsustainable and is unreasonable to expect sellers to do this every time a buyer needs a refund. It's also unreasonable to expect buyers to wait that long for discogs to go through this multi-week process with sellers before they can get their money back. Discogs will bleed buyers and sellers. They have no eta on a fix. They don't even offer an explanation of what is wrong. This site is broken and they are wasting time on useless aesthetic changes of the way albums are viewed (which looks worse anyway.) I hope they turn things around, but honestly this site sucks right now.

Great site

I have been using discogs since 2008. Its a great site to track things down and also educate yourself about music. I have found its best not to buy from sellers who have massive amonts of stock and say everything is visually graded. You find the sellers on there that are good and always check their stock Had one or two bad experiences with grading not being correct or wrong version of track sent out. Found it a good place to keep an eye on prices as they go up and down. In some cases i have bought a record for 50p and a few years later its 60 quid.. Can't comment on being a seller but the site has changed a bit recently causing upset. All in all i love discogs and can browse for hours.. A great way also to mange a large collection.

PRIVACY VIOLATION (still on 2026) DISCOGS ACTED ILLEGALLY AND AVOID TO REPLY!!!

DISOCGS HAS BLOCKED PERMANENTLY MY ACCOUNT, BECAUSE ONE OF ITS MEMBERS SHARED INTERNALLY MY IDENTITY TO A "PRIVILEGED" USER WHO EXPOSED IT PUBLICLY (still until today in a forum conversation). ACCORDING TO PRIVACY VIOLATION LAW THIS IS ILLEGAL & TO MY QUESTION HOW WAS I PROTECTED, DISCOGS AVOIDS TO REPLY SINCE AUGUST 2023, MARKING ALL MY REQUESTS AS 'SOLVED' FORCING ME TO OPEN COUNTLESS TICKETS AND THEN BLAMING ME FOR SENDING TOO MANY REQUESTS AGAIN AND AGAIN WHICH IS CONSIDERED AS SPAMMING, THEN BLOCKED MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO EDIT MY OWN RELEASES & ARTIST PROFILE WHICH HAS BEEN ALTERED BY A NON-EXISTING USER OR EVEN COMMUNICATE IN ANY WAY EVER SINCE!!! DISOCGS FUNCTIONS IN FAVOR OF "PRIVILEGED" USERS WHO ARE IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH ITS STAFF. THOSE USERS DO WHATEVER THEY DECIDE REGARDLESS DISCOGS GUIDELINES AND BASIC PRIVACY INTERNET LAWS, THEY TELL THE STAFF WHAT TO DO OR NOT!! THERE'S IRREFUTABLE EVIDENCE, PROOFS & SCREENSHOTS A DISCOGS STAFF MEMBER SHARED ILLEGALLY PRIVATE INFO & ACTIVITY WITH A 'HIGH RANKED' USER. DESPITE I SENT ALL PROOFS TO THE SUPPORT CENTER, DISCOGS TRIED TO COVER IT UP BY IGNORING THEM, WITHOUT ANY REPLY OR IN THE RARE CASE THEY REPLIED THEY TRIED TO DISORIENT THE SUBJECT WITH UNRELATED/GENERAL ANSWERS. PLEASE SPREAD IT TO AS MANY PEOPLE & LEGAL ADVISORS YOU KNOW!!! ~ YOUR PERSONNAL INFORMATION IS NOT SAFE ON DISCOGS ~ DISCOGS IS A NON OBJECTIVE MUSIC DATABASE WHICH IGNORES BASIC INTERNET LAWS AND IS MANIPULATED BY ITS STAFF & THEIR 'HIGH RANKED USERS' WHO HAVE THE POWER TO VOTE AND DECIDE ABOUT YOUR OWN MUSIC/RELEASES, NO MATTER IF THE MASS SUPPORT A DIFFERENT OPINION. PLEASE SPREAD IT TO AS MANY PEOPLE & LEGAL ADVISORS YOU KNOW!!! THIS THING HAS TO BE STOPPED!

Poor

New to Discogs and put in 2 separate orders. Both quite costly, semi rare reggae 45s. Both times the items didn't arrive after a week. Messages the seller and both times they came back to me once saying the record had been sold already and refunded me which took another week then the other seller messaged to say the Near Mint record I'd bought was actually only a Good grade and would I still buy it!! Waste of time.
