What people say

Please Avoid This Shady Platform

Here is a lovely list to explain what I experienced on Discogs: 1. Cloudflare is a privacy nightmare that prevents me from accessing my Discogs account through an endless captcha loop of hell. 2. Decent support service doesn't exist here. Instead, Discogs lets buyers' money get stolen rather than immediately refunded when they don't get responses from sellers. 3. Scammy sellers get away scot-free when people who report them get punished on Discogs. 4. Forums are run by trigger happy moderators. Discogs runs like a black market with no proper accountability considering people are being treated poorly.

Definitely not as good as it used to…

Definitely not as good as it used to be. Carrying out inventory tidying is now quite laborious + you always need to clear your cache before attempting it. Changes then often have to be applied twice. Discovering too that items previously in inventory have at some point (no doubt when some supposed change for the better was applied) disappeared. Also what's the taking a percentage of your postal costs about? Packaging needs to be paid for & postage goes up most years (and sometimes twice in a year, at least in the UK) yet you then have to overcharge to not have the item price make up the loss. Looking forward to the day I sell off the last of my collection and can leave the site.

I'd give them -10 if I could

I'd give them -10 if I could. They have nothing but abusive and incompetent people working there, and it's a black box, where they make it impossible to reach anyone, stall and lie, never fix anything. If they weren't a kind of monopoly, they'd never stay in business. There's seriously something wrong with the people you deal with here.

No Protectio For Buyers of Vinyl With Constant False Claims Of NM-!

Avoid this shambles for buying any music, especially used vinyl, as it is a faceless organisation, 'trying' to be an Ebay, without a clue and without any help for innocent buyers! I used to buy all my used vinyl from Ebay, and recently needed three LPs, and found Ebay too much, with far too many people overcharging. Two of the records I bought from Discogs were classed as NM- and both from differemt sellers, but both liars! the records were scratched! I managed to get Pay Pal to refund, but one buyer was was abusive, and when I found out he had a history of over grading, and I left negative feedback for him, he retaliated. No properly, just in retaliation, then gloated that I had only 50% feedback score. Clearly, after two purchases only, with his poison, I would! Discogs have done nothing. He still sells his fake records, and he still abuses people who leave feedback he doesn't like. Then another fake seller, selling VG and claiming NM-. Once again: no reply. No help. Nothing. This lot should stick purely to information, and not get involved in a market place, as hey don't know what they are doing! And, all out there thinking of buying, don't! There isn't any of the great Ebay protection for buyers. If you buy from Discgogs, YOU have to pay postage back, and they won't get involved! Thus, you lose postage both ways, and there isn't any guarantee that the fraudulent seller will refund anyway! Unless you use Pay Pal, and they will step in. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

i am very happy it exists!

i have used discogs for more than a decade to buy and keep track of my collection (i have no experience as discogs seller, i do sell a little bit on ebay and vinted). i really don't understand why discogs' rating here is so low, i had overwhelmingly positive experiences. there are always things that could be improved, like postage costs and VAT transparency, but overall it is a decent and legit platform with overwhelmingly decent and legit sellers. you can occasionally get better deals on ebay, but you have more choice and are more likely to find rare releases on discogs. i am very happy it exists!

Terrible customer service and out of…

Terrible customer service and out of date website! I had one bad buyer who said he was going to buy some records and asked for a discount on one which i agreed - Then he went and cancelled the other records! I obviously cancelled his order but forgot to refund him. Discogs suspended my account and has not got back tme in over two weeks!

Ponderous Logon Procedure, Overblown "Security"

The few times I've had to weather the ponderous, glitchy logon process to make a purchase here, I find myself asking "why"? Because there's something on Discogs that eBay doesn't have-- THAT's why. The ONLY reason to put up with this awful interface. Never remembers a saved login. Always takes password changes, multiple attempts and going-in-circles verifcations to get in. Gonzo over-security as though they've got the nuclear launch codes back there. I mean how un-trustworthy could a vintage record shopper be? My credit card is going to go through-- or it isn't. Problem solved, no?

Terrible customer support

Been selling on discogs since 2006. Their customer support is a disgrace. Everytime after submitting a request / ticket their reply takes weeks or they don’t reply at all. Need to fill in some DAC7 requirements bit keep getting the same error. Absolutely no reaction whatsoever. Customer support is terrible while the fees are outrageous. 9% fees on shipping costs on which you don’t make money. So on the 9% fee per sold item you also pay 9% fee on the shipping costs which can add up of you sell overseas. Hire some people who can help your customers from the collected fees!!

Ordered an album from a seller in…

Ordered an album from a seller in France. Advertisement stated the condition as VG+ for the album and VG for the jacket cover. The jacket would have been good at the best and the album had a warp. Through being upset, an exchange of messages where sent by both and I ended up getting suspended. Nothing happened to the seller nor, was I even offered a refund for the fraudulent sale. If you escalate to Discog's support team, the advice you get is, to contact the seller being that they have nothing to do with the condition, advertising or even sellers sending an item out. They basically a host hub and endorse fraudulent activity.

Avoid selling on Discogs like the plague

I tried setting up a seller account to sell some vintage vinyl I had acquired. I'm selling items on 3 other well known sales platforms but Discogs has been the worst exeperience I've had in over 20 years. They are inconsistent with their requirements, their communication is confusing and are totally lacking in software support.

Nice to track and buy. Do NOT use to sell

As a buyer it's a very nice app, never had an issue. It's amazing to track your collection and wishlist too. But as a seller..... The worst thing I've ever seen. Most buyers do not care about your terms and that ends up giving you trouble, I've also found that they have no care for you, they treat you like if you were a machine and blame you for any inconvenience that can happen, even when it's not your fault, there's no respect for sellers. But the biggest mistreatment comes from Discogs themselves, the fees are OUTRAGEOUS and there's no way you're gonna make a profit from the items you're selling. Plus, the fees you pay don't seem to go to the improvement of the site AT ALL, the inventory tracking became useless and painful to use and when you need help there's just none. I opened a ticket a week ago for an urgent purchase, not a single answer. If you're planning on sell, avoid it like the plague. I wished someone came up with a better website, vinted style but music focus and worldwide.

Unfair site absolute nonsense

My partner downloaded the app he looked at a few records and I assume he either put em in a basket or liked them until he decided, well they banned him . I myself tried to make my self a member and I was refused because of my partner...what a disgraceful way to run a buy and sell business I hope they go under . I hadn't even been given a chance I assume some keyboard warrior with know self esteem knows how to be a human . I'm more than happy to spend my money from a trust worthy site who dont judge or repremand you for something that makes no absolute sense what so ever .

SPENDING MONEY HERE IS A MASSIVE RISK

Oh God, you're taking a big big risk if you buy from sellers on this platform. NO ESTIMATED DELIVERY TIME for one, and you have NO support from Discogs when their sellers screw you over. You throw your money into the pockets of these amateur sellers and you literally have to hope for the best. When the item you've paid for is not packaged and sent to you, and you get no response from the thief who has taken your money, you'll find out that there is ZERO support from Discogs. Yes, they claim that they have a support team and support process, but this is a LIE. They do NOTHING to support you. Nothing. There is NO WAY to properly contact them. You are kept at more than arm's length from them because they know that they have no intention of stepping in to save your money and get it back to you from the thieving seller you paid. AVOID. There are many more and safer sellers of records than this horror-show, including Ebay. AVOID!

As a long time seller on Discogs I can…

As a long time seller on Discogs I can say this with plenty of direct experience. Discogs admin are the most obtuse and unhelpful I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. The support for sellers is non existent and almost daily there is some glitch which makes using the site difficult. They continue to take our money while not helping at all with issues caused by them. The preferred trick is to just lie blatantly that there isn't a problem regardless of how much proof you show to prove there is. While the ceo counts his money, the site burns.
