Premature rusting on a metal frame of the canopy. Could've fallen off the roof and onto the streets.

We ordered a metal frame, used for the canopy on the terrace. It was around 200€, and it lasted only a few months, due to premature rusting around the bottom holding in upright. There was a very high chance that if a hard wind would've blown, the metal frame wouldn't hold on, and could've flown off the terrace from four floors and onto the streets. Possibly onto a vehicle or even a person. This could've caused serious damage, all because of nonstable metal and rusting in just a few months. A waste of money for such a high price. A replacement is demanded in exchange.

Ikea’s voucher return policy is a farce

Ikea’s voucher return policy is an absolute farce. On the rare occasion you actually get to use a voucher, Ikea splits the discount proportionally across every single item in your basket. The problem? If you return just one item, even if your remaining total still meets the voucher's original spend criteria, Ikea deducts a percentage of that discount from your refund. It is a petty, money-grabbing tactic clearly designed to penalize customers for returning items they don't need. For a massive corporation that rarely issues promotional offers in the first place, clawing back fractions of a £10 discount is incredibly cheap. It leaves a terribly sour taste in my mouth and strongly discourages me from ever shopping with you again.

Never Ever Buy A Kitchen From Ikea –EVER!

We purchased and commissioned a complete kitchen and its installation through IKEA's planning and professional measurement service last year. What followed was a 3-4 month ordeal involving incomplete deliveries, installation failures, warranty issues, and ultimately legal involvement, that we still have to deal with to this day! The professional measurement service determined we needed a lower countertop due to 1960s-era window height. IKEA assured this would work with the table top they showed us. After finalising the order, delivery arrived incomplete—missing items and items we never ordered included. Then it was time for the installation: - The contracted subcontractor stated installation would take 2 days (not the 1 day originally promised) - No mandatory protocol or kitchen drawing was provided to the fitters (required documentation was missing). - The lower countertop IKEA insisted we use was still too high—the window would not open after installation. - Due to IKEA's new policy, they also no longer adjust feet on kitchens during installation, even when space allows and measurements are wrong. We purchased brand-name appliances (not IKEA brand due to bad reviews) and carefully measured them to ensure they fit the kitchen design. Following IKEA's FAQ, we kept them in original packaging, unopened, to present as brand new at installation. We were explicitly assured by IKEA that this was acceptable—as long as appliances were brand new and fit the space, they would be installed. All requirements were met. However, the subcontractor's documentation later stated they "did not install appliances." This contradicted IKEA's explicit pre-installation assurance. As a result, our dishwasher was never properly fixated, causing it to shift and leak water (confirmed by warranty technician). We had followed all of IKEA's requirements only to have IKEA's own subcontractor refuse to honor what IKEA had promised. During a disagreement about the installation quality, the IKEA service representative asked whether I owned or rented the apartment. This question was irrelevant to the kitchen installation issue and appeared designed to diminish my complaint—as if property ownership determined whether my grievance was valid or justified. It suggested that a renter's experience and concerns were less important than an owner's. It was unprofessional and inappropriate. After 3-4 months of escalation involving legal counsel, IKEA finally provided a stone tabletop and fixed the window issue. However, the systemic failures—measurement errors, missing mandatory documentation for fitters, incomplete installation, warranty issues with non-installed appliances—were never adequately addressed. Do not use IKEA's kitchen planning, measurement, or installation services. The service is unreliable, documentation procedures are not followed, and their customer service team may be dismissive of legitimate complaints. If you are doing everything yourself and know what your doing maybe, but even then, don't count on any quality or service! We've now had to hire a new contractor to fix our dishwasher.

Terrible customer service for delivery

I ordered a couch that was supposed to be to be delivered today. Received an email at 7:30 pm they were on their way. No other communication about not coming today. Waited until 8:30 to check online. They didn’t bring it because it was too late. I completely understand something like that happening. However, my delivery should automatically be first for tomorrow. Nope it does not happen that way. I have to wait 2 more days for the delivery. I wasn’t happy but said okay. Then they want me to wait two more days after that to get it assembled! That is crazy. When I called up to ask for help they said everything is done by computer and they can’t change anything. The dates are the dates. I explained I wouldn’t be happy about the delay but I’m having guests and need that couch on Wednesday. Worst customer service ever.

The parcel i received from IKEA was…

The parcel i received from IKEA was packed really well. I can't complain about that. The goods i bought were of good quality except for the broken and smashed ones due to DPD! The parcel looked like it had been thrown around, kicked, parcels thrown on top. No respect for what could be inside and what people may have spent. Ikea uses DPD for deliveries DPD review Useless, late, damaged and delivery guy lied! Firstly, I was given a delivery slot time, my sofa is very close to my door ( the door specified for delivery) that i was sat on waiting for the knock when all of a sudden I received a email stating Andrew had been and unsuccessfully delivered my parcel and would come back the next day. NO ONE TRIED THE FIRST DELIVERY THIS WAS A LIE BY ANDREW. The day after Andrew re delivered the parcel successfully and I questioned him about the day before to which his reply was (as usual) it was a different Andrew, do they not know that the tracking shows a clear picture of his face! Anyway, the parcel was damaged, smashed in on one side, a whole in the the other side with some contents poking through. I'd like to add that on the top of the parcel was a bright red sticker stating GLASS. I had to delicately unwrap the contents because all of the glass was smashed into smithereens! Once unpacked I did see some sparkles on my rug which was glass dust. I had hoover all through 3 times to try and make sure the glass was gone as I have 4 cats and I didn't want them or me getting glass in our feet. However, I did and 4 days later its still in my foot and very painful.

Unacceptable experience so far with IKEA Kitchens

Paid just over 8,400 pounds in full on 12 April 2026 for a full IKEA kitchen order plus installation. Order confirmation stated delivery for 22 May 2026; after 5 chase emails and only 2 vague replies, was told the real date was 15 June 2026 with no explanation for the change. Custom-measured wall panel/upstand (agreed at the pre-installation visit) was missing from the eventual delivery; raised 22 June 2026, still unresolved. New worktop order (No. 1611896407) given an 8am-3pm delivery window on 2 August 2026; waited the full 7 hours with zero proactive contact, only finding out after the window closed - by calling myself - that nothing would arrive at all. Three formal written complaints since May, each time redirected to a Resolutions phone line instead of a written resolution. Nearly 4 months since paying in full, and the kitchen project is still incomplete with no compensation offered. Maybe someone from Ikea will at some point look into my case and write to me with some sort of compensation. This experience with IKEA is completely unacceptable.

Wierd tracking device sound from their product package

I usually like their products: practical and good pricing. But two days ago I went to IKEA on Folkungagatan 50, Cederströmsgatan 2, Malmö, SE 177 35, and bought a shoe shelf (VASSKÄR, 806.246.45). It was a very good price—only 150 SEK—but one side of the package had come loose, and you can almost see inside. The strange thing is that I’ve heard there are weird clicking sounds from it—sounds that strongly resemble a tracking device—several times. This is so strange! Luckily, I kept the receipt, so I can return it. … …

Ikea

Ikea, Budapest, Hungary. It seems that the service quality of ikea is getting worse and worse. We had a completely new kitchen in our new apartment. On the first try it turned out that the dishwasher does not work. We reported it to ikea, who, after several phonecalls and weeks, sent out a mechanic just to tell us that the dishwasher needs to be repaired. After 2 weeks of no feedback at all they informed us that here will be no parts exchange rather they will install a comletely different dishwasher as this one is not recommended to anyone. After several weeks of calling the customer service to check what is the update, they tell us that they will need THREE DAYS to do the work. As the delivery of the new machine, the installation and the pick up of the old one will be all on different days. And they could not even specify the hours. I am sorry but this approach is completely unacceptable.

To big, no service, minimum everyhting

Hi, I have been going to IKEA for most of my adult life. I’m 68 and when I was younger IKEA wasn’t such a big corporation. I liked it a lot, but as it got bigger, the money got bigger and their service got worse. Yeah the stores are too big, and there’s only one way to go, through the whole store even if you know what you want, you still have to see all their crap to get to it. And there is no good map with any details of what is where. And if you find someone who works there, they are not very helpful, busy with all the other work you give them to squeeze every penny out of their time. Hey IKEA, we don’t want to spend hours at your store. You think that IKEA is the greatest thing on earth but for us, there are so many shops and the Internet to buy things. Maybe you can make it a better shopping experience and I’d come there more often. I also read a lot of reviews about how rude your workers are, especially to minorities. You put minimum training into your employees and pay them as little as possible, so you get the least qualified people. I’m sure you think that just a warm body is good enough but these employees have to deal with your customers, and who knows how many customers didn’t come back because of an unhelpful employee. YOU NEVER SEE THE CUSTOMERS THAT DONT COME BACK, YOU NEVER SEE THE MONEY YOU COULD HAVE MADE. Ok I get it, you’re making tons of money so you don’t really care about our remarks and complaints. Even big corporations go out of business.

Take a ticket? No, remember the nr

Ok this takes the cake. Returning a item? Take a ticket. But you don't get a ticket. Remember the nr. Or download the app. My phone ain't a gem item you can use to cut your own costs IKEA! You could have had ppl add a name so they could see it on the screen. But no. You force the app. Which very few ppl use, but it does not stop you from forcing it. Now we have ppl forget their new after a 1h wait, and 2 ppl going up to the counter at a time with no proof because no one has a ticket. You money hungry a holes. If there was no law on it, this is the kind of company that would make employee work bare foot. Because it's green and good for your health. When in reality it is pure for their own profits. All pure fake we are green bs. The only reason they are still in business. Is because, despite their quality of products going down like a waterfall over the years. That they are still the cheapest furniture company. The min some one makes a other with better quality and same prices. They would be done for. No one believes there "we don't for the planet" lias anymore. It's all profit. They are just as evil as Apple.

IKEA 0% Financing is a LIE!

Like other users have stated in their reviews for IKEA's Ikano Bank, the advertised 0% financing is not actually available to everyone who holds this IKEA card. This is exactly how they trick you into either paying in full or accumulating interest rates of over 14%. According to the official IKEA and Ikano websites, whenever you make a purchase at an IKEA store using this card, you are supposed to have up to 30 days to select whether you want to pay for that purchase in interest-free installments. This information is publicly confirmed by IKEA, Ikano, their websites, and their promotional materials. As a result, you confidently buy the furniture first, commit to the payment at the checkout counter, and expect to select your payment plan right after. However, after doing so and formally informing Ikano Bank through their official channels that you want to split the transaction into a 0% interest installment plan, you are suddenly informed that this option only applies to "newer customers." This highly restrictive limitation is purely internal and cannot be found anywhere in their public advertisements. To make matters worse, they simply ignore emails, and their phone customer service is completely incoherent. Their answers range from falsely confirming that your financing plan is all set up, to saying no 0% financing is possible, to stating that you can only finance the purchase if you accept a +14% interest rate. No matter what happens, just as other users have reported below, you are ultimately charged the total balance in full on your next card statement. The end result? If you leave an IKEA store expecting to pay a manageable 100 EUR a month, you will suddenly find yourself forced to pay 1,000 EUR all at once, leading to a massive financial headache. Trying to complain about it is a nightmare due to their terrible, confusing customer service and deceiving business practices. In summary: STAY AWAY FROM IKEA AND IKANO BANK FINANCING! The advertisements by IKEA and Ikano Bank are deeply deceiving, and the support teams of both companies are completely unable to provide a solution. If you still decide to use their services, be fully prepared to pay for your purchases in full at once or be ready to engage in legal actions.

Extraordinarily excellent home page

Extraordinarily excellent home page, ikea dot com: Wow. I am surprised that IKEA's score is 1.4 in general. My little experience is that I have been going to their home page to shop. I have throughout my 44 years as an adult bought maybe 50% or more of my home furniture with IKEA, by going there and buying and driving home with the products, assembling them and that's it. Today I am trying the online shopping, and it leaves me in awe. It is the most awesome online shopping experience I have had for the most recent 10 years. And I have shopped online with corporations who knows how to put up their shop. This experience today was a blowing, whistling, heart warming experience of a company (IKEA) who have thought about every little thing a shopper would like to know about a product before buying it. I wish I had a chance to illustrate here - but - while I want to shop online - our family have also planned to go for a "go-see" where we could see the product, and try it, before clicking "Buy". So - what did they do? They have made it possible, to click and see in which warehouses the product is available! This is awesome, because we can now check our shopping basket if we can actually go to Odense or Tåstrup and see all the things we want to buy, beforehand. I have not seen this before. Furthermore - they have 3D imagery of the products, they have fabric details, inner construction details, usage images, setting images, context images. I was left jaw-dropped today. I have read a few of the other complaints - about non-delivery and delivery of faulty stuff - surely - that must have been terrible for the customer - however - it does not reduce or diminish my experience from today, which is outstanding, considerate and leaving us as a family with a possibility of checking the quality of the products by visiting their warehouse, before clicking on buy for delivery. Thanks, Ikea. Thanks by the way too - I do not share the experience of others. I have a shelf which is 40 years old or so (IVAR), where the wood has aged, and darkened - it has patina now - but the shelf stands as it was put - it is solid, strong, looks like it did when bought - though stained of age - but - 40 year usability of a product in today's days? Thanks...
