Albert charged me for an account that was not fully setup with no user login details
I discovered recurring monthly charges from Albert for a subscription I was unaware was active. When I contacted customer support, I was told that my account had never completed identity verification, meaning it was never fully set up. Despite that, Albert had been charging me a monthly subscription fee.
My concern is not simply the charges—it’s the process. If an account was never fully completed or verified, why was a paid subscription activated and allowed to continue billing? Customer support repeatedly stated that I had authorized the subscription but was unable to explain how recurring billing was appropriate on an account they themselves confirmed was never fully verified.
Instead of addressing this inconsistency, I received scripted responses describing the membership benefits and a refusal to answer the core question. They canceled the subscription but would not provide a clear explanation of their billing practices.
Consumers deserve transparency. Before paying for a premium subscription, an account should be fully established, and the customer should clearly understand what they’re authorizing. My experience left me with more questions than answers.

An account was created and charged me fraudulently. The agent REFUSED to refund the charge ans co tinted ro say that I could enjoy the last 30 days and no other charges would occur. I DIDNT CREATE THE ACCOUNT. It wasnt until I threatened to dispute the charge and file a police report that MAGICALLY they were able to refund my money back.

This app preys on those in financial peril. I was in need of quick cash and used the app and after not needing it anymore after paying the money back I attempted to cancel the subscription. They make you go through bells and hoops to try and cancel the app and still don’t let you cancel it. They give you the run about your balance needing to be $0 before you can cancel, fine. But after you do that you still cannot cancel. Finally canceled it and what do you know, they’ve still been charging me. Even increased the amount without my knowledge. What they are doing to people is completely despicable and unlawful. They depend on people not knowing what is going on with their finances and being in peril like I was myself and they make it completely impossible for you to cancel their app. It’s incredibly frustrating. Had I not used another app to track my subscriptions I would’ve never known. I am taking all the necessary steps to move forward with this headache behind me and taking legal action.

I have been reaching out to support for days now to cancel my subscription and to close the account. They told me i had to wait until the money in the savings was sent back to my bank account, well it has and I still can’t close or cancel the subscription/account. So they charged me for another month yet again. I reached out for a refund hence I have chat history requesting this and nobody can help me nor will they refund the subscription charges. You can’t talk to anyone in person just text/email. I will be disputing with my back and warning every single person I can. This is very predatory.

This site is the definition of a scam and a predatory financial service. I didn’t intentionally sign up for this service. They charge you $19.99 a month and if you have money in savings, you can’t stop the service unless the money is $0. So my $10 in savings has cost me $40.

It’s helped out in a pinch but it’s pricey. The price we pay for being poor.

Thank you for your honest feedback. We're glad to hear that your overall experience with Albert has been helpful. We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review!
Not even a full week to repay your loan is crazy and being forced to save money on a platform that you don’t want to save on just to get the loan you need is nuts I hate I have to use this site sometimes but only because that and the multiple days of verification it takes to restart is the worst I wish this stuff could be fixed all that’s missing is a guy showing up at your job, threatening to break your legs

I was an Albert Genius subscriber for nearly three years. I originally joined because I wanted a financial tool that would help me make better decisions and improve my financial well-being. Unfortunately, despite being a paying customer for years, I personally received very little value from the service.
Over time, the app entered an error state, and because I was no longer actively using it, I eventually forgot about the subscription. I also didn't recognize the recurring transaction description on my bank statement, so I wasn't aware I was continuing to be billed.
The moment I discovered the charge, I immediately attempted to cancel my subscription online but found the process difficult to navigate. I ultimately had to contact customer support by email to complete the cancellation. My husband had a similar experience when trying to cancel his subscription.
Once I contacted customer support, my subscription was canceled promptly. However, despite three separate emails and two requests to escalate my case, Albert declined to offer even a one-time goodwill refund for the most recent charge. I reached out immediately after discovering the charge and hoped my loyalty as a long-term paying customer would be taken into consideration. Instead, each request was denied.
What disappointed me most wasn't the $19.99—it was feeling like a recurring payment instead of a valued customer. Exceptional companies don't build loyalty solely through the products they offer; they build it through the way they treat people. Moments like these are opportunities to demonstrate integrity, empathy, and a genuine commitment to long-term customer relationships.
A one-time gesture of goodwill would have cost very little, yet it would have communicated that Albert values its customers beyond the next monthly payment. Instead, I was left with the impression that policy carried more weight than the customer behind the account.
