Chose Apollo for its data coverage and API, but what I actually got was a masterclass in corporate greed and customer abuse.
I had roughly 1,360 API credits left — credits I had already paid for — when Apollo’s system suddenly started throwing billing errors that completely blocked me from using them before the billing cycle ended.
Instead of fixing the issue like a legitimate company would, their support team basically told me: “Pay us again or lose your credits.” No restoration, no extension, no actual support — just a sleazy paywall on credits I had already purchased.
This isn’t poor billing. This is a deliberate trap designed to squeeze more money out of customers who were responsible enough to not burn through their credits early. Apollo happily took my money upfront, then engineered a situation where those credits became worthless unless I paid them even more. It’s predatory and deeply disrespectful to paying customers.
If you’re considering Apollo, do yourself a favor and assume their monthly credits are a scam waiting to happen. Verify their shady renewal and access policies in detail before you rely on them for anything time-sensitive. This experience proved their “credits” are more like a rental with an early eviction clause than something you actually own after paying.
Apollo needs to fix their billing practices and stop treating customers like ATMs. Until then, steer clear. This level of nickel-and-diming and support stonewalling is unacceptable.
I will not be renewing and will be taking this further.
Signing up for Apollo was the worst software experience I have ever had after a decade of running a marketing company.
First off, we were forced onto the "Enterprise" plan as a small business with a small team. We were told we needed to be on it. That was false, the account manager clearly didn't understand that you can have unlimited mailboxes on a Pro plan.
We were forced into signing a contract. Once in that contract, there is no escape. Any upgrades made during the contract term you have to keep. No where in the contract does it say you have to do that.
After multiple scam experiences with their customer support, I had to file a dispute with my bank.
I wasted thousands of dollars and 6+ months on a software that seems great on the surface, but beneath it is just shady, scammy sales tactics to take your money and a big F U if you try to bring it up to them.
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ENTERPRISE. I hope this saves someone from getting burned like we did.
Sent many emails only to get back this department are not accepting email many emails sent to ApolloAl with same results
NOW they have blocked my acess to the web sigt
Your help would be greatly appreciated i
No support, truly awful AI runs everything. Nightmare.
Their entire interface is run by the worst AI I've ever seen which just stops answering after a couple of questions. It is truly dreadful. And since there is no support phone number and the same AI also answers support emails, it is simply impossible to get anything done. Cancelling my subscription and advise anyone else to steer well clear
A problem with billing was handled courteously. I had tried to cancel, but it did not manifest properly, so the subscription renewed automatically.
Definitely will be back next time we do outreach like this.
I will never recommend Apollo io to anyone, very disappointed in their lack of professionalism, promising lies … for solutions to a billion computational math problem.
I'm sorry to give you this low rating. The interface is excellent, the AI agent is efficient, the sales team is pleasant, and the data enrichment process is good; the data quality isn't any better elsewhere.
But for the same price, Lemlist performs the action on LinkedIn and/or creates the action to be performed in my HubSpot.
Either I'm targeting a CRM team, in which case it's just data enrichment, or I'm using a GoToMarket strategy, which is great. Simply use Excel.
In any case, it's not well-rated, nor is it well-explained from a sales perspective, and that bothers me.
ManySuggestion: Allow Active Sequences to Complete After Membership Ends of our sequences are designed to…
Many of our sequences are designed to run through a complete workflow, but they often cannot finish sending before the subscription period ends. Once the membership expires, the sequences stop and can no longer continue, which feels unreasonable.
I understand the need to limit non-member privileges, and using a credit-based system would be a fair way to do that. However, workflows and sequences that were created and activated during an active subscription should be allowed to continue running until they are completed.
I hope you will consider improving this aspect of the platform, as it would provide a much better user experience and ensure that ongoing campaigns are not interrupted unexpectedly.
