Most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Customers frequently mention that submitting claims is completely straightforward, and reimbursement payments usually arrive quickly without causing any unnecessary stress. Many consumers appreciate the comprehensive coverage provided for various pet medical conditions, noting that the online platform makes managing policy details very simple and efficient.
Some reviewers were not happy with significant price increases, observing that monthly insurance premiums tend to rise substantially as pets age. A few other people also felt that claim processing could occasionally become frustratingly slow or subject to unexpected coverage denials or communication difficulties.

User friendly web-site to register for Pet Insurance. For over 10 years, ASPCA has been very affordable for my pups! When my 5 year old Doberman was diagnosed with Cancer, ASPCA was AMAZING with helping cover his Chemotherapy.

DO NOT TRUST- very slow at responding and refuse to pay
DO NOT TRUST! They will find million excuses not to pay and blame pre-existing conditions even without actual proof.
Extremely disappointing and frustrating experience. My claim was denied based on broad, generalized statements rather than a clear explanation supported by the actual veterinary records. I repeatedly asked the company to identify the evidence supporting its denial of each procedure, but those questions were never answered.
Consumers deserve claim decisions that are transparent, evidence-based, and fully explained. I did not receive that. Also EXTREMELY long time to receive a response (months) but mostly there is ZERO response at all until you email/call multiple times. As for their ASPCA support: tiny, just for shows. This is an insurance company, not a "let's help animals" company.

False advertising
False advertising. You look for past visits to vets to deny current problems with animals. You should not take payment until you are ready to cover the animal. I would never recommend your product to any other pet owner. In fact, if there is a way to complain to the oversite agency of your product I will make a complaint to them.

I can’t say enough good things about ASPCA Pet Health Insurance. While you always hope you’ll never have to use pet insurance, having it has given me incredible peace of mind.
The reimbursement process has been straightforward and reliable, and what really impressed me is that they covered my dog’s hydrotherapy as part of recovery. Knowing that I can focus on my pet’s health instead of worrying about unexpected veterinary bills has been invaluable.

Hi, Kim! We appreciate the kind words - give your pup some extra treats from us!
ASPCA BEST PET INURANCE. They are very fair with claims, have excellent customer service, a fantastic over the phone high priority/emergency assistance for pet issues, and the claim process is rather simple. They greatly ease the stressful times when a pet has gotten ill or hurt.

I have never had any issues getting claims reviewed and paid in a timely manner. The coverage is very comprehensive and they honor the terms and provisions of the policy. Cost is a bit steep but I have a older cat, relatively healthy, but who needs more than average vet visits. I would like to see a discount for longevity and loyalty. Overall, very satisfied with ASPCA.

Purchased ASPCA Pet Health Insurance (underwritten by Independence American Insurance Company, administered by PTZ Insurance Agency) for my adopted Boxer puppy in March 2026. Annual premium: $1,366. I spent an additional $2173 in care. Total reimbursed in four months: $350.
A heart murmur was noted at her first wellness visit, 8 days into the policy's 14-day waiting period. The resulting echocardiogram ($620) was denied under a waiting period exclusion. Her veterinarian submitted a letter stating the murmur is clinically consistent with a congenital condition. Formal appeal denied.
The policy language explicitly includes congenital conditions in its definitions of covered conditions, but the claim structure makes it functionally impossible for any congenital condition to ever be paid: it will either fall inside the waiting period or predate the policy. I filed a complaint with the Massachusetts Division of Insurance.
Boxers are a breed with well-documented cardiac and other hereditary health risks. A policy that includes congenital conditions in its language but excludes them in practice is not appropriate coverage for this breed. I would not recommend this policy for any breed with known hereditary health concerns. And given the amount they actually reimbursed relative to what I paid for the premium and for the puppy's vet care, I don't recommend this pet insurance to anyone.
It was quick, they made my cat comfortable and informed me of the process/cost
Only complaint is the parking lot is small, and difficult to get around with a carrier

Thank you so much for your kind review, Dawn! We're thrilled to hear that you and your pet are happy with our pet insurance services. Your satisfaction means the world to us!
However, we think you may have us confused with our strategic partner, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA®). As a partner, the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance program is administered by PTZ Insurance Agency, Ltd.
We're proud to collaborate with such a reputable organization dedicated to animal welfare. This partnership allows us to provide comprehensive coverage and support for your furry friends. Thank you again!
Trying to find out why when I submit two claims one after the other, you process one and queue one and the second one takes too long to find out if you’re going to pay it

Hi Patricia, thanks for reaching out. We work hard to reimburse you as quickly as possible. We generally complete claims in 30 days or less. You'll receive email notifications as your claim is being processed, but you can also track it along the way in the Member Center. If you would like to discuss the claim process time frame in more detail, please give our customer service team a call at 1-866-204-6764.
Bunch of scumbags, raised my rate after 8 years over 70% at renewal.

Extremely helpful and stress-relieving!
We have had ASPCA's pet insurance for years, and it's been great knowing that any unexpected health problems and regular preventative care screenings are covered.
When our newest kitten developed FIP at 9 months old, we got him the best care we could, knowing we had insurance to help us offset the expensive treatments. Our kitten is now a 2 year old cat and he's been given a clean bill of health.
We wouldn't have been able to afford his treatment without our ASPCA insurance.

Hi, Sara! We appreciate the kind words - give your cat some extra treats from us!
I recently submitted a dental claim for my cat. My vet had inadvertently put the wrong date on a record in my cat's file.( I took my cat to the vet on January 2, right after the turn of the year, the vet posted the wrong year)
It was at that visit that the vet said her bad breath could indicate a dental problem. I made an appointment for the dental work, which was a few months out. The vet suggested waiting until dental health month because they gave a discount for the service then. My cat ended up having two teeth removed at that visit. I submitted the claim expecting to have some coverage on the nearly $1000.00 claim.
My claim was denied because they called it a pre-existing condition because of the misdated file from the vet. I tried to explain to ASPCA, that if they reviewed the information I submitted when I signed up, I had not even gotten my cat until after the date on that record. In addition, I did not start seeing that vet with my cat until 9 months after the date on that record. I called the vet and they acknowledged the mistake, corrected the mistake and resubmitted the document to ASPCA insurance. They would not reevaluate my claim. I tried to submit a new claim since they said the original was closed, they said that incident was denied and would not consider the update from the vet. I have now cancelled my pet insurance (for all three cats I adopted from a rescue at the same time) with ASPCA, and frankly am disheartened by the experience. I don't think I will buy pet insurance again.
