I have been a loyal Rocket customer. This was a new construction project. The team led by Moe was incredible. We had some issues in the end from the builder and delayed closing. The team did an outstanding job putting me as the customer first and worked hard to get the loan closed so I could move into my new home. Can’t say enough about the great process and high level of commitment to customer satisfaction!

Denied VA loan

I was told that I qualified for a VA loan, but Rocket Mortgage stated that I had to finance the property as an investment property and not as a residential property. The new home is zoned for commercial/residential properties. I’m a baby boomer looking to downsize. The overwriter said I was denied because, “Why would someone move from a nice, large home like youres into this home”. I was shocked when they told me this! My wife and I are going from a household of seven (four children and my mother) to just two. Denying me a VA loan means I am going from $0 down to a down payment of $90,000! Rocket should be ashamed!!

The best part about my experience the last 3 years was my original banker. There's no customer service. They will call and text to the point of harassment, but then if you have a concern, there's no on there to speak to. Currently shopping around for a different lender because most of the people I've spoken to don't treat people like people and the passive aggressive communication is truly unprofessional.

The whole process was seamless from start to finish. Steve especially was wonderful and I feel he genuinely had my best interests at heart. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and professional. Being to upload documents and see progress in real time with my online account made everything easy. We closed on time.

Don't Call Rocket Mortgage

If I was you I wouldn't use Rocket Mortgage, There was probably a time when Rocket Mortgage looked out for people in need, but now that they have become a major corporate company, the little people who need help are now treated as such ! It's all about how they can make money and not so much to assist the people who need help to try to do better or even get the assistance your looking for. I tried to access the equity in my home to assist with home improvement and payoff bills. R.M. got all of my information, and proposed possibilities with great outcomes verbally. I signed papers with different incentives. Put up monies that I actually didn't have to give up, because my back was already against the wall with bills. Which was the reason for contacting R.M. in the first place ! Then the deal goes south, and no pay out to help my situation and out of the monies that was giving in "Good Faith" digging myself deeper in the whole I was in before I contacted R.M. And no more contact from the agent who verbally told me all the good things that they can do for me! Transfered from department to department all with the same Sad "We Win, You Lose !" Undertones! If I was you I would search for a smaller Mortgage company in your area, where you talk to someone on a more personal level and not just a case number. A company that will actually try to help you and not just try to help themselves to please the Corporate Executives or get their Bonuses. Trust me I understand Agents are in it to get paid and do the job but at least when you use a smaller company I think there is maybe a little more compassion for the person who they understand is struggling and needs the help! It's kinda like how a college athlete plays hard for the love of the sport and try to get to the big leagues as opposed to an "OVER PAID" pro who plays only for the money and treats their loyal fans like sh!t !! Trust me there are many other options than Rocket Mortgage!!! OG.
