Most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Customers frequently praise the professional and supportive staff who guide them smoothly through property sales and purchases. Many consumers appreciate the clear communication, helpful attitude, and efficient service provided during otherwise stressful real estate transitions. However, some customers also noted severe communication breakdowns, unresponsive phone lines, and long delays in receiving their funds after completion. A few reviewers experienced difficulties reaching anyone for updates and felt deeply frustrated by poor administrative support throughout the process. Others mentioned unprofessional responses and unexpected complications regarding document handling or financial transactions.

Lucy G and her team handled our sale and purchase, for which we cannot thank them enough, for all their hard work throughout. Communication was excellent, all calls & emails were answered promptly, and we were kept well informed throughout the whole process. I would highly recommended Lucy and her team, they offer an excellent service and are a highly professional team. I would definitely use them again in the future.
I am so grateful to Lucy who has now helped my family 4 times, my 3 kids and myself, from first time purchasing to purchasing rentals. Lucy is very thorough which is fantastic and I would wholeheartedly recommend her and Ross Coates to anyone looking for great service. She even picks up her own phone. Juliana D'Souza
We did not appoint Ross Coates directly — our matter was passed to them by Millennium Legal without choice. From the outset, communication was poor. We were given contact details for nine different people and a generic inbox, with no clear ownership of the file. As overseas clients relying on email, we had to chase repeatedly just to understand basic timelines and next steps. After several follow-ups went unanswered, the only response we received was an automated out-of-office message advising the firm was closed until 2 January. There was no prior courtesy communication about the closure, no status update, and no interim contact — had we not chased, we would not have known nothing would progress. After raising these concerns and leaving an honest review, Ross Coates responded defensively, stated that their standard email response time is 5–7 working days, and then ceased acting for us entirely, returning the matter to Millennium Legal. This resulted in time lost, further delays, and the need to start again with a new firm, through no fault of our own. Rather than addressing the lack of communication or taking accountability, the firm chose to disengage the client. Unfortunately, this experience reflects the issues raised in many other reviews — poor responsiveness, lack of ownership, and a complete absence of client care.
Dear Jit, Thank you for your review. We opened the file on 15th December via the third party referral company that you choose. You should have been advised that you were being passed on to a firm of solicitors. We dealt with your due diligence within 2 days of instruction and your file was passed to the legal team on the 17 December . Our next steps are to review the file before sending out contract papers, however if you are not satisfied with this service then we feel the relationship has broken down and that we shouldn't be acting for you. The level of service so far is not unsatisfactory and we wish you the best in finding a new solicitor . Kind regards, Ross Coates Solicitors.
Despite facing many council obstacles, numerous back-and-forth questions, and ongoing negotiations, we got there exactly as promised. I honestly couldn’t speak highly enough of this firm. The level of service we received was outstanding, and the price was extremely fair for the amount of work involved. Throughout the process, they were professional, patient, and reassuring, even when things became challenging. I would 100% recommend this firm to anyone looking for reliable, high-quality legal support.
I cannot recommend Lucy enough. She is so efficient and cares so much for her clients. My mums house sale was not straight forward and Lucy assisted us in her professional manner to ensure everything could run smoothly for my elderly mother. Thank you Lucy
Our sale was quite drawn out and stressful but this was due to having 1 buyer that had to pull out due to chain collapsing then 2nd buyer making lots of silly delaying queries that had been previously answered. Throughout all of this, Remersh Kaur and the conveyancing team kept us fully up to date with all matters and constantly chased our buyer due to our tight timescales with our new house on new build development.
Carlos was great (supported by his team), and showed great patience and empathy to my case. Through our collective perseverance and process adherence, Carlos was able to get the desired outcome. Got updates when asked for and when comms got. thank you
Ross handled the conveyancing of the sale of our home. We found the whole experience from start to finish exceptional. Ross and his team were very professional and kept us informed every step of the way. We would highly recommend his firm.
Ross and his team went above and beyond to ensure we had a smooth and timely transition into our new home. The team’s communication was incredibly prompt, clear and thorough. All aspects of the process and costs were outlined ahead of time, with every measure taken to keep to those expectations. Including pushing through third party delays on completion day to ensure we made into our new home. I can’t imagine a future move without Ross Coates leading the charge on our behalft.
Very professional company, helped me with a number of property related issues from buying to remortgage. Friendly staff always on hand to answer any questions. Highly recommended.
I have instructed Ross Coates Solicitors on two occasions in the past and wouldn’t hesitate to do so again in the future. On both occasions the service provided was very efficient and I found the level of communication to be fantastic. Throughout the process I was given clear explanations and very useful guidance.
The initial 'welcome' letter from Ross Coats was positive and reassuring once I had decided, after much research into finding a company to sell my mother's home at the beginning of June. However, my experience was far from anything in that letter and until completion upon 26th September I found there to be little regard/respect for me as a client. The emails were not replied to quickly. There so many excuses offered whether it was emails or telephone calls. The telephone was rarely answered and on a few occasions I had to telephone another office for them to put me through although they often couldn't get through either. There was very little updating of progress. Information was requested, supplied and acknowledged but then asked for again simply because no one person seemed to deal with the case. I had more assistance from my excellent estate agent who often had to contact the RC on my behalf. I never felt I had one person handling the sale of my mother's house. The final financial statement was incorrrect. I could go on..... I made a written (email) informal complaint soon after the sale was completed as I was told this would be investigated more quickly than a formal one, but despite reminders from me and empty promises I have yet to have a reply and is the basis of my overall review. If a business wishes to be reviewed and the reviewer is given the choice of 1 to 5 stars then that review has to be accepted.
Very professional in the way they deal with things and special thanks to Remersh Kaur, Krishna Kaur & Michelle Day who handled my purchase and got everything sorted within the deadline we had.
Unable to award no stars which would be more fitting for this firm. Currently going through complaint process so won't bore you with the details but please avoid this company at all costs. They are slow, agreed sale of property in June and to date still have not completed!! No support or understanding given to a client who is Neurodivergent.
Where do I begin. What was meant to be a process that should have taken 10 weeks, took almost 11 months. Despite posting important documents to them by tracked mail, their support staff only managed to provide our purchasers solicitors with incomplete information, only faxing or scanning one side of each document! They kept asking for information which we had provided several times. I really don’t think the right hand knew what the left hand was doing half the time. Apart from lack of updates by them, unless we phoned to ask how our sale was progressing, we received little or no feedback. Progress feedback which we had to ask for. Several times the appropriate team/person was unavailable when phoning them therefore unaccountable. They were lax when it came to returning calls & slow to answer our emails. We thought the whole process would be relatively quick & simple, bearing in mind we were engaged in a short chain. Consisting of my husband & I selling a property to our son. We explained that there was a mortgage settlement to be made which we were relying to be paid out of the sale as a matter of urgency. It was due to be repaid on a certain date & we needed to complete by then. Even when we exchanged contracts & completed on 28.10.25 one week on we had to chase them for news of where our funds were. We had no idea if they had made the settlement to our mortgage provider. Later this afternoon, we learned that they should have dealt with the settlement several days ago, which has now caused our mortgage provider to charge us extra interest on our loan. We were told today that the funds had been dealt with on 29.10.25 we expected Ross Coates Ipswich to have provided our mortgage provider with a settlement at the same time. A member of their accounts team responded to my husbands email of yesterday, only after he rang them. No apology, just to tell us that our funds would be in our bank by the end of the day. It was, however, no sign of what & if they had made payment to our mortgage provider. To say that this company is lax is an understatement. They have no idea of time management. No idea of how to keep their clients happy. No idea how stressful dealing with them is. They lack no sense of continuity, no sense of urgency. Most of the staff are polite & pleasant, but they fail to follow up on their commitments to their clients. In all honesty I cannot find anything positive to say about our experience as it has seen me in tears of sadness & frustration worrying about their lack of due process.
People were constantly unavailable to talk to and uncommunicative. They constantly passed the buck for errors made onto other departments and members. The crescendo came when it was found that the mortgage had not been extinguished, three weeks AFTER the sale had completed! Meaning that legally, it hadn't. One member of staff in particular, was by far the rudest and merely said it wasn't her responsibility but that of the accounts department, and gave my brother-in-law their phone number to 'contact them directly to deal with it'.
I really recommend them it was great service from the start to the end. Lovely staff*
I wish I had never dealt with Ross Coates Solicitors. From start to finish, the experience was chaotic, unprofessional, and deeply frustrating. Communication was poor, deadlines were constantly missed, and I often felt completely ignored. What’s worse is how little transparency there was — I never felt confident that my case was being handled properly or that anyone truly cared about the outcome. The entire process left me feeling misled and taken advantage of. In my opinion, their conduct was completely unacceptable and bordering on unethical. I’ve never encountered a firm that showed such disregard for professionalism or basic client care. I would urge anyone considering Ross Coates Solicitors to think twice before engaging them. There are far better, more competent firms out there that will treat you with honesty and respect.
