What reviewers say

AI generated

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently struggle with unwanted subscription charges, tricky cancellation processes, and unexpected renewal fees that make managing accounts frustrating. People also share poor customer service experiences, mentioning that representatives are often unhelpful or completely impossible to reach when trying to resolve billing errors and missing book purchases. Though some users experienced great customer support and expressed long-term satisfaction with the audio book platform over many years of membership. These happy customers appreciated quick assistance from polite agents who successfully sorted out their account and payment issues on multiple occasions.

What people say

Audible have no complaints process.

Audible have no complaints process. I've spent days with customer service agents, they sent me to Alexa who sent me back. Asking for a complaints email, they don't have one. The policy is to not take customer complaints. Genuinely shocking how bad a company this is. Even for Amazon this is the most immoral and unethical business

I drive for a living so I do use audio…

I drive for a living so I do use audio books several days a week. I enjoy the books on audible but have not purchased many, many books because the preview is just intro or author blab and has absolutely no insight!! And you cannot let them know that because their “customer service “ is either select one of three options that don’t remotely pertain or talk to someone who doesn’t know or care about why this is the case!

Predatory pricing and subscription

Predatory pricing and subscription. Cant retain more than 6 credits, your new month rolls around and you loose a credit... also known as you loose your monthly sub value because you are at their predatory cap. Used for years and found great but pricing structure got to me in the end.

Highly recommend staying away from this scam company

Last week an agent put my account on hold for 90 days as I have 7 credits... sure enough they just charged me... and they do everything possible so you can't reach customer service... and if you cancel your account you lose the credits which is 100% unfair... highly recommend staying away from this scam company!

Poor Customer Service by SRI

I was trying to account for a credit card charge on our company card and saw in Audible CA website this - Note: If you choose to contact customer care, please have the 9-digit code found on the Audible charge available. E.g.: MB3TM39P0. I did exactly that and talked to "SRI" (she refused to give any employee details), gave her the 9-digit code, she then asked me for Amazon details which I clearly don't have which was why I was investigating this unknown charge, and after putting me on hold, refused to give me any details since I only have the 9-digit code. I questioned the one stated on their website - have the 9-digit code ready. I told her to revise that one, coz even when you provide this, they will not assist you. It was a waste of time calling them. What a joke, very poor customer service.

Very bad customer service

On the 22nd july i contacted to customer services and the service was terrible.he wasnt interested in helping me and kept repeating anthing alse...i had to ask him that i had to make a complaint towards him because i wasn,t willing to help me and he refused me to be able to Talk to anyone or to give me a phone number for complaints or email. I Will be cancelled my membership due the way i wasn treated. Never again audible.

Audible is a complete scam

Audible is a complete scam. It should be illegal that the credits can expire or disappear if you cancel. The customer support is awful. Just buy your audiobooks from kobo. Even if they are a little bit more expensive, they are actually cheaper because you don't have to sign up for a subscription and end up with credits that expire and then all of your money was wasted. Even better- use Libby and just rent the audibooks from your local library. Anything is better than letting audible scam you.

Fraudulently charged my CC for my mother's audible account after she died

I am not even a customer of this company and I still find myself a recipient of their absolutely unbelievable unethical practices. My mother was a customer of audible and she sadly passed away a year ago in July 2025. After she passed I went in to all her accounts to cancel her subscriptions including her audible subscription. My mother and I also shared an amazon account for our kindle so I went into this account and added my credit card, so I could keep up this subscription. For a year since I have been getting charged her audible subscription fees even though I never gave audible my cc number AND I had canceled the account. I finally called them up and spoke to a seemingly very helpful assistant who said that of course they would stop these charges and refund me for the year. I would get an email back from them in 1-3 days requesting my mother's death certificate so they could formally resolve this. I told them I would be happy to provide this. It has been a month and not only have I not received any follow up email but they charged me AGAIN. This is beyond unethical. Canceling her subscriptions was painful enough, it was heartbreaking to do this, and now all this extra stress feels like the ultimate callous disrespect from this company. It is also completely unlawful as I never gave them my cc details and I cancelled the account. I guess the lesson is be careful of any CC details you give to Amazon as they quite happily seem to pass it over to other companies within their family, even if you havent actually authorised any purchases.

I have been an Audible member since 2009

I have been an Audible member since 2009, and until recently my experience was good. As an old account holder, their technology began to not recognize my account. I spent several weeks and literally about 10 hours with their customer service to fix the problem, but their "fixes" made matters worse. The customer service folks are very nice, but really have no idea how to fix problems. They spent most of their time explaining the issues with their systems and how I needed to try to make things work for them. I willingly spent so much time putting up with it because I have almost 300 owned titles on Audible. So it is with great regret that I have given up. I would warn anyone against using Audible that it has gone from being good to frustratingly lousy in my over 15 years as a member.

Horrendous Tech and Customer Service

Is this how Audible treats its founding members? After 13 years of loyal membership, a glitch in the Audible iOS app has completely corrupted my library, causing hundreds of purchased books to vanish. Instead of solving a clear database issue, customer support gaslit the experience and flatly refused to provide an official complaint reference number or log tracking. After multiple broken callback promises and hours of wasted time, I have officially escalated this case directly to Audible's three most senior executives, including CEO Bob Carrigan.A 13-year customer shouldn't have to go to the executive suite just to get a functioning app library. I look forward to a swift resolution plan.#Audible #CustomerSuccess #Leadership #CustomerExperience #BusinessEthics

Absolutely horrendous customer service…

Absolutely horrendous customer service that's not helpful and then will eventually just disconnect you. Also there's not even a feedback survey or anything after you contact which tells me they clearly don't care about their customer experience or improving their service team. I had charges to one of alternate bank accounts for over a year by audible and had trouble cancelling. I don't ever remember signing ups and had no record in my inboxes what email the account was connected to. I provided them with the exact date of charges, the specific charge IDs on my banks statement, address any everything else to verify the payments were getting charged to me but they refused to cancel the subscription because I didn't know the email address. There also wasn't any alternative method to verify the account so they kept letting the charges occur. I had to eventually block the transaction with my bank. It shouldn't be this hard to cancel a subscription and there shouldn't be a sign up process that has no alternative means of verification. People get locked out of their email accounts all the time. Do they expect us to get charged until the end of eternity? Absolutely horrendous. Don't do business with them!

Trying to cancel your subscription is…ridiculously hard to do

Trying to cancel your subscription is so ridiculously hard. I was on the phone with "customer service" for over 30 minutes and was eventually hung up on while being on hold. I finally figured it out on my own but it wasn't an easy process. Horrible. I will never sign up again. Horrible.

I wish I could give them a zero

I wish I could give them a zero. I was holding my phone, accidentally bumped the purchase a book while the app was open and they charged me $17.49. I immediately wrote to them, never even opened the book and they never responded. I disputed the charge on my credit card and Audible provided “proof” that the purchase was made. Meanwhile Audible deleted the book from my library. My credit card refused to reverse the charge so now I’m out $17.49 and I don’t even have their stupid book that I didn’t want in the first place. End of Rant

Audible Exclusives Suck

Audible claims stakes to books they didn't create or produce... I'm seeing more and more books that become "audible exclusives", taking them away from library apps like Hoopla and even paid apps like Spotify Premium. They're creating a monopoly, essentially forcing people to do business with them because they've found a way to have books removed from all other sources. (Even when those books were originally available elsewhere.) I understand exclusive content when it's completely original to the business (like Netflix creating and producing their own shows), but it's frustrating to see this with books that used to be more accessible. It just feels like a low ball move

Nightmare of Dark Patterns – Impossible to Cancel!

I would give this zero stars if I could. On mobile, where I use the app every single day, you cannot cancel your subscription at all. The website is even worse. They intentionally hide the cancellation process in a highly deceptive way. Even on the official "Cancellation" page linked directly by their own FAQ, the cancel button is completely missing! This is a textbook dark pattern designed to trap users. The whole experience is an absolute nightmare. Once I finally manage to get rid of this subscription, I am never using Audible again. Stay away!

Worst Customer Service

I like the content on Audible, but they have the worst customer service I have ever seen. Impossible to contact anyone to resolve issues. Their AI assistant is complete crap. You can’t ever get a person on the phone or even a live person on a chat. My last issue involved something as simple as changing a payment method. Completely impossible to do on their site. I am lost on how to proceed. I think I will just cancel my subscription and restart it at some date in the future. Audible, It is time to get your act together.

Absolutely horrible

Absolutely horrible. Can't get them to stop charging my account. I never used it I tried cancelling it the very next day after setting it up. And I thought I successfully ended my account. But boy was I wrong. It's been over a year and I can't get them to stop charging me. They keep telling me I had an American account. But I don't, I tried signing into the USA version and it says an account doesn't exist. I told them over and over with screen shots what was going on and please just stop charging men I don't even care about a refund just stop charging me. I now have to shut down my bank account just to stop this insanity. They are the worst just don't do it.
